- George here demonstrates the much heralded drum intros Bonham played on two of the three MSG July 1973 HEARTBREAKER drum intros.
I love watching you guys geek out...I am right there with you two.
This is one I’ll never get tired of watching it’s just to awesome.
I love the sound when hit the snare and tom-tom at the same time. So Bonzo sounding!
Everyone else should just throw in the towel and y.t. should give you two exclusive jurisdiction over all things Bonham. And to flair up and pizaz the channel will take money. So, Page, Plant and Jones should do another Album and tour featuring George on Drums.
Bob Claypool agreed
Agree x2. Great idea.
This is the best idea since ever!!!
I concur!
I just can’t stop watching this vid, I’ve watched it everyday since posted.
DannngggThe kit,the talent
Unreal George. Just unfriggin real! The snare sounds like buttah! The whole kit sounds yummy.
I was blown away when I 1st heard this intro. In the true art of creativity you guys keep Bonzo's spirit alive. I'm hooked
Okay... micro nerding about John Bonham live intros & drums being well played with a savory Bonham sauce on top of it - I just found my kind of channel ! ! !
You guy's are having way too much fun....... Thank you.
That snare sounds amazing. Drummer ain't too shabby either. Thanks for the videos!
Terry says " thanks Mr. Acavano" from the movie "Wise Guys". Lesser known and under appreciated movie starring Devito and Piscopo. Captain Lou Albano plays Mr. Acavano, best part of the movie, in my opinion.
1:57 to 2:22 is pure musical drum heroin. It's simply orgasmic. John Henry Bonhmam, 130lbs of glory. JHB!
YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!
George F’n fludas is frigging great! Thanks for developing this channel with him Terry!
Dude my dad played Page in a couple Zeppelin tribute bands in the 90s I love nerding out to some Zeppelin dude apparently the gene is hereditary or whatever the term is where I am also obsessed with Zeppelin
Iv been wondering about that intro for over forty years, problem solved. Thx guys.
You guys are awesome. Please keep doing more of this stuff!!!!
You got wrists, Sir. Page always said it was in the wrists 👊💀🍻🚬
Well, well... Bonhamology and Bonzoleum together
You guys are awesome..👍
🥃
Bad ass! I love it!
Fantastic video
Sickest drum intros !
Thanks guys!! You two are an awesome team!!
I'm lovin it!!
Great technique and smooth timing!
John Bonham........you've gotta look at this wherever u are
Great stuff!
Wish I could come and play the guitar along with you guys for these Led Zep tunes, especiallyfrom specific live recordings and bootlegs. Amazing stuff.
"That's so delicious"...🤣👍
Love seeing you hitting harder and with a little more attack than usual George - absolutely nailed it. Must be the in the influence of that Terry bloke...:-)
Absolutely love the enthusiasm from Terry, it's so awesome! George, your playing is phenomenal. I'm wondering if you've heard the Providence show just prior to the New York run in '73? It's outstanding, maybe the best show of the tour and the Heartbreaker from that show has almost the same intro. Keep it up guys!
Robert Winship Yes, Providence is one of the best of the tour. Great playing all around, I wish they had filmed that show!
I wanna get this bass drum and marry it .
Stathis Iraklis Mavromatis Haha, it'll be a Greek wedding!
Good thing I am already used to them
he plays the riff accents on drums, thats why he was a genius
Try the intro into the Heartbreaker second solo 1973, the tympani work sounds like an orchestra, amazing!!
Can I come over one day and hang with you guys? Awesome.
Here is the intro Darryl requested , from 7/28/73. ua-cam.com/video/XZhGxZ6soOM/v-deo.html
he (bonzo) is actually drumming the riff if u listen very carefully i.e. he hits the snare the same way page hits the notes.............MAGICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😂so delicious 🏁👍
Damn!
So much attention to detail. Blew me away when he played the faint hi hat close right after 4:24
it’s because George is the real deal. He’s the closest we will ever get to a Bonham reincarnation.
Hey guys, love the videos! I’ve been looking for that video of you guys tuning with the Tune Bot a while back, but can’t seem to find it for the life of me. Is it still up somewhere?
Geez, I can hear that going sounding like a big plate reverb!
😊😎❤️🥁❤️
Hey guys how about playing Darlene, great drums on that song!Keep up the good work.
Glad I'm not the only one that loves that song!
I really would like to cover that one, as I think his drumming is just incredible on that track.
This Rockanrrolenn n nice
I'm the 'another guy,' George. Thanks.
DAGDRUM5 Darryl! Sorry about that! Thanks man, that's such a great opening to the song. There may be another one I've heard on a bootleg similar to 7/28/73
G, you're dead on it about Night Flight which Bonzo recorded after the '73 tour (early 1974). I did not correlate that
with the intro to Night Flight. Terry, you're right about "130 pounds of glory." Bonzo was trying to lose weight on
that tour and Percy used to announce what he weighed that day each show after Moby Dick. Then there was the
night where he said, "John Bonham, full of shit and speed. I've known him since I was a kid. And he's been a right
bastard the whole time."
I think Plant says that on San Diego 73!
Thanks! What's the last crash cymbal on the far right of screen?
It sounds like an 18" 2002 Medium or Crash
Hey George or Terry I’ve always wanted to know exactly what’s going on right after the guitar solo when JHB and JPJ come in, kind of hard to hear what’s going on for the first 10 15 seconds.
Accuracy is 100%
I don't think I've seen this yet- Will there be a breakdown of Moby Dick from the 1970 RAH show? PBPBPBPBPBPBPBPBPBPPBPBPBPBEEEEEAAASSSE?????
Roger Rabbit?
That is an epic undertaking, but one I would like to approach at some point . Maybe sometime in the coming couple months.
I second that!!!!!
tambourini, but of course. :)
George, on the studio version of The Ocean at the end of the first verse right after
Percy sings "for the hell high hellas ball" Bonzo plays a fill leading back into the
head arrangement. Sometimes when I listen it sounds like six notes, other times
more than that (depending on how many Bonzo Fun Pops I've drunk). Hook up
an older bloke a bit hard of hearing would you please, sir. I started to request
you also demonstrate the HTWWW version with Bonzo playing the bell of the ride
cymbal during the guitar solo however it's sloppy, like the band is still refining the
tune before recording it. Sometime in the future would you or Terry play the album
cut with all its nuances. I watched Terry's version from six years ago but he didn't
discuss that particular fill or I'd be over on bonzoleum pestering him. If either you
or Terry would tell me how many notes it is sooner than 'sometime in the future'
though I'd appreciate it---I'm dyin' to have it confirmed by experts.
Darryl what is the time code on that fill?
Thanks for the quick reply, G. 0:48 to 0:50 approximately.
ua-cam.com/video/H8bVaTW6UCU/v-deo.html
Darryl, it's 6 notes but the first is a rimshot second is almost a ghost note, much softer , 3rd is louder (rimshot) 4th softer though not as soft as the second, 5th and 6th are louder, also rimshots. So it's typical Bonham phrasing, with nuance. It's not just 6 monodynamic 16th notes. So, in the first four notes the right hand notes are played louder than the left hand , then the last two are about the same volume before the cymbal crash on 1.
Thanks for the quick and detailed answer, George. I've played The Ocean with
bands since 1978 but that fill always flummoxed me. Yours & Terry's precise
drumming has me reexamining my own. ultimateclassicrock.com/jimmy-page-new-album-2018/
hey George, i am trying to find your video where you and Terry discuss the jazz waltz. You describe it like what Bonzo does on the snare at the RAH moby dick . Is that video still up. Thanks again O
is it medium paiste crashes?
These are vintage Giant Beats
What size hats are this?
15's
BONZOLOGY with Terry & George thanks man, I study Bonham too and it’s great to see you play
What kind of man drinks water out of a Starbucks sippy cup lol great job mate
For the How many more times part, he actually plays the floor Tom first, not the rack Tom.
Derek Lepiesza Correct, I had it flipped. 🙄
Came here by accident, MSG = monosodium glutamate
Hahaha
Terry gets water from Starbucks 😳😳😳
Vistalite homogenation
Can you do something from Ian paice from deep purple live in Japan album? I know this channel is dedication to led zep. How about someone else. Thanks
that end of Moby Dick is a "rip off" of a Buddy Rich solo except Buddy did it with triplets between the snare and toms
Less yakin more drumming 👍🏻🥁
Finally, someone who understands how to nail the Bonham groove, but you need to hit them harder to really feel it. Maybe you have to keep the neighbours sweet!
Bonzo nerds...what can't they tell you about John? Nothing.
What about your poor ears?
