A new milestone is Lonnie being able to sit there with his Mom answering questions!!! Well done Stephanie and Lonnie! You’ve made so many wonderful steps in the direction of healing and happiness ❤
I absolutely believe Stephanie when she says that he gives consent for the sharing of information, but it is awesome to finally hear from him himself ❤️
I’m a GPA and kidney transplant patient. The first two years post-transplant can be tough. The best advice I can give is to know the symptoms of sepsis and cytomegalovirus. Best wishes! 💕
Thanks Lonnie for sitting down and taking time to give us some insight into what this whole journey is like from your perspective. ❤ It’s a testament to how much of a warrior you are. 💪
Lonnie, you are a incredible person! What a service you are doing to educate others that may be going thru the same thing or understanding about organ donation! I hope only the best for your future!
OMG. Im watching a medical MIRACLE!!!!!! I cant believe the absolute 180 turn around is A-MAZING!!! Lonnie Jr is proof that prayers, positive thinking DOES WORK!!! ❤️
You and your family are an incredible inspiration. My 19 year old is severely autistic and the violent meltdowns have only recently stopped, somewhat. I don’t comment much but just seeing all that y’all have been through and still are able to put those beautiful smiles on brings so much joy and encouragement. Keep it up y’all! - Dr. Blues 😎✌️
So happy for you Lonnie! You look great, it’s awesome to see you without oxygen. You seem like a very mature, insightful young man. Thank you for the Q&A, that was very interesting to hear from a patient perspective after the fact. (I’m a respiratory therapist)
I am always so taken aback by Lonnie’s humble nature and maturity for someone his age. Your families resilience is beautiful. I’m so happy to see Lonnie recovering :)
What a cool kiddo/young adult. I also have a 21 y/o son (perhaps Lonnie is now 22) who is in college and is also really well spoken! I love seeing moms and their adult sons with good relationships. ❤
It's amazing to hear him talk! I remember back when he was pretty sick and could only talk in like a whisper. I know his voice has changed a bit but he sounds great now! Hoping he continues to feel better and better💙
i just got diagnosed with gpa and vasculitis. i’m 23 so hearing about this from another young person makes me feel better. mine so far has not been nearly as life threatening as his. my lungs are good i was just having the typical sinus issues and a skin rash. it did start off with acute pancreatitis with necrosis but that wasn’t too much to deal with. i have my next 3 rituxan infusion scheduled and i’m hoping for the best! it’s a very scary situation knowing what can happen throughout this disease
How wonderful to hear from Lonnie Jr.!! He is so smart and beyond his years and I’m so happy for you all, and I continue to pray for his progression and recovery!❤🙏🏼
I’m literally bawling my eyes out watching him breathe peacefully and talking to us. My teenager’s best friend was hit by a car this past Mother’s Day and didn’t survive. They pulled his life support two days later, and donated his organs. Then you had posted the next day that Lonnie was getting offers and it was just so bitter sweet to watch God’s work in real time. I’m so excited for Lonnie to grow old and enjoy his life journey, and will continue to pray for your family!
Thank you for bringing up the voice change with autoimmune disease and that causing lung disease. My voice is a whisper to very raspy. I have a rare autoimmune disease which caused severe lung disease. I am on oxygen so my voice is very bad.
Omg he looks like he’s doing amazing, he’s so incredibly strong to get through this, he’s so inspirational and you are the best mama ever, I really really hope the worst has passed 🙏🏼❤
You are the strongest mom with the strongest kids. You must be so proud. I think we’re close to the same age, but I look up to you as a mother. So happy for Lonnie jr and your family ❤
It is so wild seeing him sitting there doing so well when things looked so scary. I just love that things worked out and it had to do with amazing medical staff, your amazing parenting and his TOUGH spirit. Also, this young man is so smart and well spoken
Stephanie I love how you always ask Lonnie Jr. if you can share certain things with the viewers. Specially the ones that wait for something negative to talk about. Lonnie Jr. looks great
You are looking wonderful Lonnie! So happy you're on the other side of this. God bless the donor and their family. My granddaughter is 9 years in with her new kidney she received from a living donor 5 years after developing 2 different rare kidney diseases and losing both her kidneys. She will be 18 on July 12th. She has been struggling emotionally and therefore physically the past few years. It is taking a toll. Sending love from Wilsonville Oregon
It was so nice to see Lonnie Jr. in the video! Listening to him talk, he seems so wise beyond his years. I hope and pray that he continues to see nothing but improvement!
I almost lost my son to a staff infection just last week. What started out as a cyst that needed removing, landed my son in the hospital very ill and it was so scary. He had two surgeries for drainage of the infection and stopped breathing right after the first one. A three days before that his grandfather and Uncle was attacked by Africanized Killer Bees. Still, I cannot imagine what you guys have been through, but Lonnie Jr. Looks great and it is nice to see him up and about.
He has has probably grown soo much in the past few months. He seems soo mature! Still keeping him and your family in our prayers❤ my oldest has autism and my little 2 year old just recently was in the hospital for pneumonia so I was with him for only 2 days and it was hard to juggle it all and we only have 4 kids. I can't imagine how you and your fam did it for months. Kuddos!!! ❤
When my son was 16 he was involved in a car theft incident and while trying to fight the guy off he got hung up and was drug down the road for about a mile. He was life flighted and stayed in ICU on life support for a week. I won’t go into all his injuries but it was a very close call to us loosing him. As a parent it was hands down the most difficult chapter of my life. He choose therapy to help him after the accident and to this day he said for his mental help is was necessary. He’s 29 now, married, and has 3 beautiful children. It definitely makes you appreciate the small things in life. Seeing Lonnie Jr now is nothing short of a miracle and Organ Donation is truly a gift. Can’t wait to continue to follow his story because he’s going places for sure. And btw, he’s a carbon copy of you minus the red hair and fair skin. He’s a very handsome young man, and a strong one too!
Lonnie, thank you for taking the time to answer some questions. You are so brave and we are so very thankful for how God has brought you through this life-changing time. We continue to pray for you, for complete healing and the ability to achieve your life goals.
Praying for you kid. I am so sorry. I am praying this is behind you and you can be happy!! You deserve to be happy! Praying so hard that you be happy for the rest of your life. You are so brave. God bless your parents and your family! Your mom puts on a brave face, God bless her. Lonnie sounds so mature. He sounds like a doctor. Dear God, please give Lonnie a happy life. Amen.
Lonnie Jr. I am just so happy to see you smiling once again. If you graduate later because of this life is long enough people take their time or change major's and nobody thinks about later in life. If you decide on college your story looks good on an application. From the stories about your relationship with your siblings it looks good too.
What a great video. Glad you are doing well Lonnie Jr. Thanks Stephanie and Lonnie Jr. for doing this video. I have organ donation on the back of my state idea. My corneas are in terrible condition and can't be donated, but my other organs should be fine. P.S. I'm not eligible for a cornea transplant in either eye. Take care and continue to heal from your surgery.
Lonnie! You look and sound amazing! I’ve cried so many happy tears since your surgery and recovery. You’re amazing, strong, kind, soft spoken and just all around a wonderful person. Thinking of you guys and sending positive thoughts. 💕
Hello dear Lonnie & Momma, thank you so much for sharing a part of your private lives. I am learning so much about the after effects of your journey. Lonnie you are very intelligent. You made me laugh, when you said, I don't have much choice!!! No kidding Sherlock!! Lonnie I have watched the first day you were sick. My heart wished that I could do something for you & your family. I have to admit, it was very hard for me to watch. I did say prayers for you & everyone! I understand what it feels like to lose very close family members! Lonnie you have been so gracious, throughout this journey. But I must say your Momma was a warrior( so were you Lonnie) I have strong love for you momma! Your household became so much stronger, I feel that truly in my heart! I have nothing but LOVE for you & whole family. I pray everyday Lonnie that you get stronger with vitality, & that you achieve whatever your heart desires! Again, thank you Momma, for just being you! 💞💙💞
I’ve always had breathing issues that require nebulizers/inhalers/medicine so I know how difficult it can be sometimes to even just sit up and talk, couldn’t imagine how you’re feeling. But Lonnie you look and are so strong!! I’d never be able to tell you just went through such a crazy experience, you look great!
Thank you guys for making this video. The last thing I saw was a short that Lonnie was donated lungs & was going into surgery. I didn’t know if he made it through (you probably posted something I missed). Just pay attention to Lonnie’s mental health because I’ve been dealing with chronic pain, botched surgery etc. I only made it through because my mother was watching me like a Hawk. She was able to talk me out of giving up before any attempts were made
He is looking good. I hope & pray he continues to recovers in his owns body’s time. You are a great mom to all your kids! I’m keeping u & Lonnie Jr in my daily prayers! 😊🙏🏻🎵🫶🏼 You guys did a great job of explaining everything to ur viewers.
I had to wonder why Lonnie doesn't appear more bc he is a very obviously clever, wise beyond his years young man, he reminds me in his looks of his Dad. I think its also obvious the great parenting and relationship between Mom and Son!! Well done both of you!!!
A new milestone is Lonnie being able to sit there with his Mom answering questions!!! Well done Stephanie and Lonnie! You’ve made so many wonderful steps in the direction of healing and happiness ❤
You must be so proud of him. Mature, well spoken and looking forward! ❤❤❤❤
So proud 🥹
So nice to hear from Lonnie himself!🎉🤍💜
I absolutely believe Stephanie when she says that he gives consent for the sharing of information, but it is awesome to finally hear from him himself ❤️
Lonnie is a true inspiration extremely mature for his age. You truly have a story to tell . Keep fighting Lonnie !
The world definitely needs more grounded and thoughtful people like Lonnie.
You have plenty of time Lonnie Jr. Take your time to find what you want to do for your career. Do what really makes you happy.
I’m a GPA and kidney transplant patient. The first two years post-transplant can be tough. The best advice I can give is to know the symptoms of sepsis and cytomegalovirus.
