- After 7 months of tears and fear, 26 days post op of a double lung transplant surgery my 17 year old got to come home to start his second chance at life. Lonnie Jr still has a long road ahead of him but it's the most amazing thing to see him slowly morphing into his old self every single day. Organ donation does save lives and we are thankful our son's was one of them.

My teenage son had a dental surgery in October 2022 triggering a rare autoimmune disease we didn't know he had (ANCA+ Vasculitis). This caused bleeding in his lungs which ultimately impacted many organs but has damaged his lungs to an irreparable point. He now needs a double lung transplant. He has given me permission to share his story ❤️

I am so happy you and Lonnie Sr can lay aside your differences and come together for Lonnie Jr and the others. also do you. But you know what to allow and not allow. Verbal abuse is just as bad as physical abuse. One thing I hate is seeing parents argue in front of the kids. Talking about anxiety!!!! I went thru it as a child and as adult

Congratulations! Life after transplant is truly amazing. The 1st year is a rollercoaster but things start to settle down after that. My daughter had a liver transplant when she was just 4 months old. My amazing sister donated. Best wishes and here's to a healthy, and happy future..

It's so understandable how much stress you had on your plate at the start of the transplant journey. Now your sparkle ✨️ is coming back in your eyes. I’ve been in a funk lately and have been mad about small things that are going on in my life. I feel guilty because it’s nothing compared to what you’ve been going through. You’ve been so strong through all of this and I’m so glad you’re all on the other side of this journey.

Hi, it was great to see the kids and so happy Lonnie is home. I had a heart transplant in 2014. Going on 10 years. I did get diabetes after transplant, think that's normal, but didn't last long. He'll be on anti-rejection meds for life. My heart gets biopsied every other year to ck for rejection. None so far. Guessing they do same for lungs, but in beginning way more often. They take a little snippet of tissue out and send off to lab. He will get stronger over time and he'll be back to himself in no time. Everyone should become a donor. I eventually written and spoke to my donors mother, so in time if donors family want to reach out it's possible for Lonnie to meet family if he chooses to do so. ❤

Having a fiance in kidney failure has made your journey with Lonnie Jr feel so much more personal to me. I am so happy and grateful that your family has gotten a second chance at life with Lonnie Jr. I can't imagine the constant worry and fear you (as parents) have been living with for these past long months. It's a beautiful thing when someone who's passed on can bring life to others. When I die, I want 100% of whatever they can take of me, to go to people who can be blessed with my leftovers ❤😂 thank God for life and science and for organ donation!!!!

Nelly is so good at communicating clearly with or without her talking board. Obviously she’s not on the track of a “typical” child but I’m wildly impressed by her improvements. Liam also seems more aware of his environment. He seems to recognise the various questions he was asked. Lex is doing great recognising that he needs to be gentler with his younger siblings & Noah seems so independent now. I know the focus is on Lonnie jr (for good reason) but I wanted to take a moment to appreciate the growth that the other kids have had

When I, an old lady, had chest surgery 3 yrs. ago, I was very anemic and had a low grade infection
I also had a pulse rate much faster than usual, about 100 i stead of 70s.
Hang in there.

I was born in Donetsk City and were adopted from an orphanage in Kramatorsk, about a 2 hour drive north of Donetsk City. Both towns are in the Donetsk region in the Eastern part of Ukraine and Russian speaking region.
Kyev is the capital. We all stayed there in an apartment when papers were processed before leavi g for Poland to finish the adoption proceeding.
u couldn't talk at all or sit or stand
u were in really bad shape..we just decided to save u even though it was a very risky adoption
