  • Take a look inside Air Traffic Control at the world's busiest airport for one week each July: Oshkosh in Wisconsin, during the EAA AirVenture fly-in. We'll tour the tower and speak to one of the controllers.
    This video also shows some of the other exhibits the FAA had at AirVenture 2019, talking about accident prevention through data analysis, ADS-B, runway safety, and the aviation medical process.
    Enjoy the view from the air traffic control tower at Oshkosh's Wittman Regional Airport.

    I've always wondered what it was like up there. I'm in awe of the skill and organisation the ATC has at OSH,.

    Very nicely done, glad you were allowed a camera in the tower, some who receive a tour in a tower are told no photos, no videos. Between this and the Chicago Tracon video, outstanding work.

      I still have one more I'm working on, a tour of the tower in DuPage, IL. I hope to get that one out before Christmas.

    You have to visit the FAA controllers in Fisk, when I visited they worked out of a minivan and a table with a tent.

      I thought about that but simply ran out of time. Maybe I can do that at AirVenture 2020.

      Each year, controllers are able to apply to work the event. Selections are made based on Airventure experience level and seniority, with priority given to controllers in the region. It’s a very sought after assignment with some controllers waiting their whole careers to be selected.

      Pink shirts for the high visibility. Some controllers are positioned right out next to the runway controlling departures.

    • @erict5234
      @erict5234 3 роки тому +3

      The FAA went with pink due to high visibility, ground marshallers (volunteers) orginally wore orange... now they can wear orange or green, EAA Photo wears green... pink was a good choice for easy identification of FAA personnel.

      What am I missing? About half the video is a controller talking about her job in Oshkosh. The other half is other FAA exhibits at AirVenture. I think the title summarizes this well, no?
      I, too, would have loved to spend much more time in the tower cab and record the controllers doing their job there, but I was only allowed a few minutes.
