The show put the spinoffs in chronological order but didn't care about viewer expectations : those spinoffs literally didn't exist in the OG story so there couldn't be any continuity. That's why Yui's arc end with an ominous view of floor 74 : the reader know it picks up the original story, but in the show the viewer SHOULDN'T already know that's the boss revealing Kirito's unique skill and unlocking the last floor any player will ever unlock. Out-of-context, show's 74 feels like a VERY weird specific point to skip to... That's kinda like Narnia where the author said it can totally be reading in chronological order, yet the narrator in the first published book outright say the reader can't know Aslan yet so presentations are required. I understand the good sides of showing arcs in chronological order, but then some bit of thinking was required to make sure the transition flowed fine, and they somehow didn't notice the issue... ALO is an even biggest offender, as the admin summons Excalibur the most powerful sword... but the part where Kirito-Suguha previously notice it in a dungeon (for Caliber) wasn't mentionned and is only shown during the second season.

But shop owners and such, when killed, are replaced by a completely unfamiliar face. I could be wrong. I haven’t read the progressive arc. But that’s the case in the video games, and their story is written by the same author of the books, Kawahara Reki.

To be fair, even with the tutorial NPC kidnapped by someone, the players could still learn a little by reading the manual written by the Beta Testers. So Kayaba was still right, most of them died from stupidity.
Has anyone realized that the story teller's whiskey jar was full at the beginning of the episode, but was almost empty by the end of the video, that is an amazing detail.

My favorite thing about SAOA is the fact that Sachi was never forgotten. Whereas in the original, the minute Asuna was introduced: Kirito basically forgot all about her. I mean, she’s even mourned in season II of this!

I just realised something heartbreaking. In the first episode Klein says hes starting a guild with his friends. But we never hear about them again and in this episode his guild mates ask “who’s Klein?” (Implying they don’t know his real name like his friends would) Plus he’s looking for an Item to resurrect players. What if all Kleins friends died too and he gave up the possibility of bringing them back for kirito ? Im gonna to go cry now.
Given Klein's reaction that's kinda implausible, and besides, why would you not want your circle of friends to live once more? (Even if ingame items really can't, because you can't stop their heads from exploding irl -- thanks Kayaba --)

The number of times I've died because Dogmeat breathed on a mine and Danse's thickass metal can wanted to have a heartfelt conversation is too numerous. They aren't allowed to be in the same vicinity anymore. Not really as problematic for Companions in the 360 games, but NPCs as a whole still cause trouble.
4:25 Kayaba included an npc that tells you to log off after playing too long, indicating in EPISODE 3 that the whole trapped in the game thing was completely accidental. I learn something new on every rewatch

4:24 It's just occurred to me that the NPC giving him a "You should take a break" wasn't just Kaiaba being a dick, that message is in there because he wasn't expecting people to get trapped in the game when he made it.
Everyone was moved to a hospital within the first few weeks, and I imagine that as a precaution against lag the government would've made sure said hospitals had an extra fast and extra stable connection. And since the game was only released in Japan, there wouldn't have been ping issues stemming from being on another continent from the server. While I agree it could have been an interesting plot point(though there are a lot of things that could've been interesting plot points that weren't), it's something that in the set up lore wouldn't have really been an issue, at least not after the first few months.

Gary was obviously a psychotic player pretending to be an NPC. Judging from Keita's audio message he was the one who blocked the door so Keita couldn't look for Sachi. Gary was banking on Kirito being forced to look for her, so they would develop a bond and make it more painful for Kirito when Sachi would die. He also planned that, obviously. Think about it. Why would Keita's item duplicating trick be patched at such an unlucky time? Because Gary told Kayaba about it. I bet Gary was also the one who anonymously purchased Keita's item, because he knew the dungeon where they would find that item. And look, Gary was also the one who opened the chest and triggered the trap. It's also pretty weird for an NPC to use a crystal so fast. And why did he have them in the first place? I think by now it's obvious. And then there's his appearance in episode 5. It was way too convenient to be a coincidence. Gary wanted to hurt Kirito and remind him of Sachi's death. Pity he underestimated Kirito's grudge. A psychotic player killer like Gary just didn't think Kirito would hate an NPC so much. Logically it doesn't make sense. It was Gary's fatal flaw, you could say. RIP Gary, you psychotic bastard
It's funny that they turned the guild members into NPCs, but if you think about it, there's no way that gamers who survived this far into the death game would see a single chest in an empty room and JUST OPEN IT
Going back a good decade, I have not so fond memories of getting trapped on the top of floor of a Keep, because the NPC's clogged the narrow staircase. This was in Wars and Warriors: Joan of Arc.

To be fair, even with the tutorial NPC kidnapped by someone, the players could still learn a little by reading the manual written by the Beta Testers. So Kayaba was still right, most of them died from stupidity.

My favorite thing about SAOA is the fact that Sachi was never forgotten. Whereas in the original, the minute Asuna was introduced: Kirito basically forgot all about her. I mean, she’s even mourned in season II of this!

In the first episode Klein says hes starting a guild with his friends. But we never hear about them again and in this episode his guild mates ask “who’s Klein?” (Implying they don’t know his real name like his friends would) Plus he’s looking for an Item to resurrect players. What if all Kleins friends died too and he gave up the possibility of bringing them back for kirito ? Im gonna to go cry now.

The number of times I've died because Dogmeat breathed on a mine and Danse's thickass metal can wanted to have a heartfelt conversation is too numerous. They aren't allowed to be in the same vicinity anymore. Not really as problematic for Companions in the 360 games, but NPCs as a whole still cause trouble.
4:25 Kayaba included an npc that tells you to log off after playing too long, indicating in EPISODE 3 that the whole trapped in the game thing was completely accidental. I learn something new on every rewatch

Everyone was moved to a hospital within the first few weeks, and I imagine that as a precaution against lag the government would've made sure said hospitals had an extra fast and extra stable connection. And since the game was only released in Japan, there wouldn't have been ping issues stemming from being on another continent from the server. While I agree it could have been an interesting plot point(though there are a lot of things that could've been interesting plot points that weren't), it's something that in the set up lore wouldn't have really been an issue, at least not after the first few months.

Gary was obviously a psychotic player pretending to be an NPC. Judging from Keita's audio message he was the one who blocked the door so Keita couldn't look for Sachi. Gary was banking on Kirito being forced to look for her, so they would develop a bond and make it more painful for Kirito when Sachi would die. He also planned that, obviously. Think about it. Why would Keita's item duplicating trick be patched at such an unlucky time? Because Gary told Kayaba about it. I bet Gary was also the one who anonymously purchased Keita's item, because he knew the dungeon where they would find that item. And look, Gary was also the one who opened the chest and triggered the trap. It's also pretty weird for an NPC to use a crystal so fast. And why did he have them in the first place? I think by now it's obvious.
And then there's his appearance in episode 5. It was way too convenient to be a coincidence. Gary wanted to hurt Kirito and remind him of Sachi's death. Pity he underestimated Kirito's grudge. A psychotic player killer like Gary just didn't think Kirito would hate an NPC so much. Logically it doesn't make sense. It was Gary's fatal flaw, you could say.
