    My opinion Godzilla VS Kong
    Positives:
-Jia and Hayes are the best characters
    -CGI is amazing
-Music is good, very similar to the DC soundtracks
-Fights stand out different from most kaiju movies making them fun to watch
-Very good emotion with Jia and Kong
    Negatives:
-Movie is a little to short, needs to be longer maybe 2 hours
-Hollow earth feels empty, needs dragons or dinosaur creatures in it
-Some characters are more bland than ever
-Godzilla's theme is a stepdown from the last movie.
-Not that much of the plot is explained or explained in a way that makes no sense
-Mechagodzilla feels like a cheap way for Godzilla and Kong to team up
-In the Hbo max version you can't hear stuff at 40-50% volume
-Needs to give Godzilla and Kong a better reason to fight so it feels like a real rivalry
    - Mechagodzilla’s design looks like a mess, the concept art was better and should have been used instead of what we got.
Overall pretty soild movie for a kaiju one 6/10

32:57 about this... Godzilla did show to be angered by humanity in Godzilla dominion when they killed multiple sea life and tried catching a titan in a net, after he saved the titan he went up to the surface and destroyed the human base and it even stated that Godzilla’s noticing the similarities in behavior between humanity and ghidorah

Yeah, I was a bit heated when they just had a throwaway line saying that Skull Island was basically destroyed and all the Iwi were dead. My partner had to calm me down in the theater. 😅 I was really hoping that wasn't the case for Skull Island's current condition but hey, it was fun while it lasted I guess and it does have some of King Kong's mythology of having Skull Island be destroyed in some capacity.
    Still love the movie though.

There isn't much more the MonsterVerse could use Skull Island for. It's just an island. If it looked more like the Hollow Earth, it could maybe get another movie about it, but it didn't.

I agree with most of these points, and while KOTM was not a great film, it had the best soundtrack in the entire MonsterVerse by fucking far. Hell, the “Goodbye Old Friend” piece is literally a poem of an ancient language of the story of Godzilla and Serizawa. GvK had some kickass music, but not nearly as good.

For me as a Kong fan I absolutely enjoyed Godzilla vs. Kong, a lot of the people who watched this seem to become plagued by the misconception that EVERY SINGLE Kong fan got upset at the outcome of the fight. I'd say I was somewhat satisfied, it builds Kong's character up more if he loses, and he never really wanted to become "king of the monsters". I think both monsters got a win, Godzilla kept his title whilst Kong became king of the Hollow Earth.
However I do agree with some fans on a few things, first of all is the fight against Warbat. I think that Kong gets help from humans a bit too much here. I would have removed the whole "saving Kong from Warbat" section, I'm sure Kong could have at least shredded through the wing with his teeth when it covered his face. I wasn't really crazy on the whole "Kong is dying" thing either, do we really need to see that trope done again with Kong? I know he didn't actually die, but it's significantly close.
I've also noticed some people calling Kong's win over Mechagodzilla a "pity win", I don't agree with that. Kong is the protagonist of the movie, Mechagodzilla is the antagonsit. Protagonist kills antagonist, that's how it works so no, I don't think it was a pity win at all. Plus I don't care what anyone says, Godzilla AND Kong needed each other during the final battle or else they BOTH would have met very nasty ends.

    Great review, my friend!
Overall, I really enjoyed it. The story was reminiscent of 'King Kong Escapes, as you've mentioned, and since I aodre that film, I thought it was nice that GvK was practically a spiritual remake. The visual effects were amazing, and I did like most of the characters, especially Jia. Though, I hate to say it, but the 'Team Godzilla' subplot really grinded the pace to a halt for me. I just couldn't get into these characters.
While I'm a big Godzilla fan, I'm a massive King Kong fan. He's my favourite fictional character and my childhood hero, so I was really interested in seeing his side of the movie. I was pleased that the story revolved around him and his journey to find a new home (although I do have one gripe regarding that). It was really cool to see him in unfamiliar and alien enviroments. And his friendship with Jia was really endearing. They're both such charismatic characters, and it was a treat seeing them interact.
I did have a couple issues with the movie.
One, I agree, it felt like they made Kong too weak. I knew going in that Godzilla was going to win, cause Toho would lose their mind if he lost, and you don't anger the parents of the franchise you're babysitting, but the fact that Kong needed help so often was bothersome. I understand him needing help in the battle at sea, cause that's Godzilla's turf and of course he would dominate there, but Kong needing assistance to break his chains? C'mon. In every single Kong film, he succesfully breaks free on his own, so he should've been able to do the same here. And as for his battle with the Warbats in the Hollow Earth, these are the kind of creatures Kong fights and kills regularly in his past films, TV shows, comics etc. without the help of anyone else. When he was being suffocated by the Warbat's wing, I was expecting Kong to use those big-ass canine teeth and tear into those wings, but nope. He needed help again. And Godzilla practically killing him? Jeez. Him losing is fine, but almost dying is bit much. And yet again, he needed help from the humans to get revived, and a few moments later with Mechagodzilla, the same thing.
Another aspect I didn't like was that we barely got to see Skull Island. Every time there's a direct sequel to a Kong film, Skull Island gets a disservice. In Son Of Kong, it sinks, and in King Kong Lives, we don't even see it. I know that Kingdom Kong is going to explain how the island got uninhabitable, and I'm looking forward to reading that, but it still sucks that we didn't get to see any of that beautiful island that K:SI set up so well.
And lastly, Godzilla came across as a huge asshole in this movie. He really needed to calm down. Haha
But despite my issues, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. I'd give it an 8/10.
Sorry for writing a book. I'm just passionate about King Kong. Lol

Godzilla vs Kong Does Batman V Superman's Team-Up Properly
Godzilla vs. Kong has a similar team-up ending to Batman v Superman, but the MonsterVerse film's climax works a lot better. Here's why. Godzilla vs. Kong ends with a team-up between the two lead titans, but their alliance works much better than the one at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Both films share the "versus" conceit, and both promised epic duels between two of pop culture’s biggest icons. Where Godzilla vs. Kong has been hailed as a sweeping success, however, Batman v Superman was less popular. The concept of “vs” movies isn’t new. Classic (though critically panned) examples like Alien vs. Predator and Freddy vs. Jason have become nearly as ingrained in pop culture as the independent franchises that spawned them. Some of those movies ended with clear winners and losers, while others ended more ambiguously. Regardless of the films’ respective climaxes or overall quality, the idea of pitting two cinematic titans against one another has always been inherently intriguing. Though Batman and Superman both belong to the same universe under DC Comics, their cinematic showdown in 2016 was nonetheless highly anticipated. Man of Steel had kicked off the DCEU with generally positive reviews, and Ben Affleck’s Batman was following one of the most popular superhero film series ever in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Unfortunately, the movie’s promise was undercut by some questionable writing choices, particularly during the final act when the characters team up against Doomsday. Godzilla vs. Kong ends in a similar way, but it pulls the alliance off in a much more satisfying finale. After spending most of Batman v Superman developing grudges and researching battle strategies against one another, the two eponymous heroes meet in a climax that unfortunately fell flat for many moviegoers. For starters, Superman only confronts Batman in the end because Lex Luthor - who manipulates them against each other - threatens to kill Martha Kent unless Superman kills Batman. The movie builds up plenty of reasons for the two to fight of their own volition, but because of Luthor’s reveal, the emotional weight of the battle is somewhat undercut. Then of course, after an extensive duel, there’s the infamous Batman v Superman Martha moment. Having managed to beat Superman into submission with Kryptonite, Batman is about to land the killing blow when Superman begs him to “save Martha” - the name both their mothers share, causing Batman to suddenly, unbelievably see Superman as a human being with a shared bond. The name drop completely defuses the otherwise fatal battle, causing Batman to abandon his entire plan to kill Superman after a bit more explanation from Lois Lane. And then, after all that, Lex Luthor conjures Doomsday from general Zod’s Kryptonian ship - a twist many have criticized for having very little to do with the rest of the movie. Clark and Bruce barely get to make amends before flying into battle with Wonder Woman, turning the movie from a “vs” film into a mini Justice League adventure in the final few minutes. Superman then dies in a noble sacrifice, and credits roll shortly after. The team-up between Batman and Superman has been heavily critiqued for multiple reasons. It feels incredibly rushed given how driven Batman was to defeat Superman. It undoes the promise of the title by making the characters not just temporary allies, but permanent friends. And the whole alliance hinges on a villain who has nothing to do with the actual rivalry between the two heroes. The result is a final act that feels like it came out of an entirely different movie, and which left many in the audience disappointed. How Godzilla Vs Kong's Team-Up Is Different? As in Batman v Superman, Godzilla and Kong team up against a common enemy at the end of Godzilla vs. Kong. However, the MonsterVerse does things a bit differently. For starters, Godzilla and Kong actually finish their battle completely before Mechagodzilla shows up. Godzilla wins, clearly and definitively, and leaves Kong to die from his wounds. Their rivalry culminates in a fight that is both complete and well built-up over not just the course of that movie, but multiple movies, and the result is an exciting and captivating kaiju showdown. In essence, Godzilla vs. Kong follows through on its title. The team-up itself is also quite different in Godzilla vs. Kong. While they end up joining forces to defeat Mechagodzilla, they each do so for their own reasons. Godzilla comes to Hong Kong specifically to battle Mechagodzilla because he wants to stop the resurrection of King Ghidorah. Kong joins the fight not because of Godzilla, but because Jia urges him to help protect her and the rest of humanity by stopping Mechagodzilla. After the robot is defeated, Godzilla and Kong go their separate ways as neither enemies nor friends, but combatants who have a grudging respect for one another. Why Godzilla Vs Kong's Team-Up Is Better? Godzilla vs. Kong’s team-up works better than Batman v Superman’s for several reasons. As mentioned previously, Godzilla and Kong properly finish their fight before Mechagodzilla enters the fray. Godzilla clearly wins in the end, and no element of the battle or the reasons for it feel contrived. The titans are two characters with a legitimate rivalry, which is satisfyingly resolved. On top of that, that legitimate rivalry felt truly earned with the narrative groundwork for it being laid over the course of a few movies. By contrast, Batman and Superman’s fight feels more like an unearned gimmick, and the way it ends doesn’t offer a real resolution. Secondly, Godzilla and Kong’s alliance is strictly temporary. Godzilla allows Kong to live after the battle with Mechagodzilla - both as a show of respect for his help, and because Kong admits to Godzilla’s superior strength - but the tension between them isn’t fully resolved. They enter the film as rivals, and they leave the film as rivals. In Batman v Superman, the speed and intensity with which the two heroes become full allies undermines any sense of real conflict between them, which makes most of the buildup to their fight feel empty. That’s not to say that Batman v Superman doesn’t do some things right. There’s a large group of fans who hold the film in high regard, and the dynamic between Superman and Batman is inherently different than that between Godzilla and Kong. Still, it’s unfortunate that DC fans didn’t get a more satisfying showdown. Fortunately for fans of the MonsterVerse, Godzilla vs. Kong delivered both an exciting battle, and a great team-up afterward.

Think of it this way- his whole life he was on skull island fight specific specimens of Titans and he had no parents/Kong members to teach him how to fight other Titans. In this scene he was just merely not experienced enough, but still as strong and tough as we remember. Now with him ruling hollow earth he can expand his fight knowledge

Hey man, I agree with completely with what you said with GvK bringing in billions of dollars at the box office. Because the amount of salt the “journos” were complaining about online proved that not only is everyone sick of what both the media has been putting into movies recently but also shows that it’s time for action packed, lovable character development, popcorn flick stories and of course kaiju destroying cities in giant movies to bring in a hundred trillion dollars at the box office.
Fingers crossed that the monsterverse continues and that they do slow down and take the time well craft each film, like what you said in one of your older videos where they need to slow down and yes, even if they had marvel’s budget they should take the time to polish everything and improve what previously came out.
As for how I would rate the movie: I’d give it a 8/10.

The best human character is Jia, while the rest only exist to deliver exposition and move us from scene to scene. I hated how mechagodzilla was rushed into this film and almost felt obligated to appear in the film instead of feeling like a genuine inclusion to the MV, he was just a glorified cameo. I like this interpretation of mechagodzilla, especially the design, the new abilities and just how much he felt like the character, but at the same time you could’ve done so much more with him. I’m also extremely disappointed that Ren Serizawa was wasted in the film, no backstory, no motivation or reason why he’s hell bent on destroying Godzilla or what happened between him and his father or why he was never mentioned in the other films. I feel like they cut out his scenes and the other scenes to make the film move faster and appeal to the people who don’t care about the people and only care about the monster stuff. Speaking of which, Godzilla and Kong were done justice in this film, and are given lots of screen time and personality, especially with King Kong! I’m not surprised that Godzilla won in the battle but I was expecting a underdog situation happen where kong defeats Godzilla but no he actually is weaker and less durable than Godzilla, considering he’s fought bigger and stronger titans than him! The fights were so good, no cutaways or dark weather effects and the cgi was mostly good. I hate how the monsters move way too fast for my own liking, I miss the more grounded and realistic approach in Godzilla 2014, where the monsters actually felt massive in size. The futuristic high tech vibe in this film, while I like it for what it is, it doesn’t match up with the grounded tone of G14 or skull island, and it’s so baffling that these films are set in the same universe when they have very different tones and styles. I wish the monsterverse had a more consistent tone and vision from a single director to give the universe consistency in its rules, logic and livability. Overall, I’m glad I saw Godzilla vs Kong and glad to see the MV culminate into this film and what could be the last MV movie, but I still get that sense of disappointment, since the film could’ve been so much better! It’s a great Kaiju spectacle but a mediocre mess of a film. I did like it more than kotm though

I have waited over 40 years for a GvK reemake o rematch. I have debated GvK with my twin bro during this whole time. I'm so grateful for Legendary. They truly did both Kings the right way.
In GvK we learned the radiation from the Earth's core is the most powerful source in this whole monsterverse. ONLY ONE TITAN has this built inside him. Godzilla. This makes him the most powerful force of nature on the planet. There is ONLY ONE other Titan with access to this power and it's King Kong's Royal Ax. Kong with the ax makes him the other most powerful force of nature on the planet.
Kong is very capable of beating Godzilla. He received on the job training with the ax. He learned that it blocked Godzilla's atomic ray. Kong wasn't aware that Godzilla could recharge the ax. This could have changed the outcome of the HK battle.
Godzilla won an incredible back and forth battle. The fight was incredible.

    • @KingKong19100
      @KingKong19100  3 роки тому

I think the axe was overcharged when Godzilla fired at it, and that's why it detonated before it even made contact with Godzilla. It charged past it's limits and blew up like a mini atomic bomb.
I feel like Kong's physical attributes should have put him against Godzilla as another one of the most powerful forces of nature. That's why I feel like he was done alright, but not greatly. Because he depended on the axe severely. He only won round 2 because of it. He got saved by the humans too often. Once he got in close he basically was screwed. Other Kong's were insanely strong, could break their chains, could do things like hurl other monsters no problem, but this Kong seems like he can't...

Did Kong do very well up close after he charged Godzilla in HK??? I thought he was fine till Godzilla got on fours and dislocated his shoulder. I was surprised an inside fight was how Godzilla would win. The director had to choose something.
This was the most powerful version of both Godzilla and King Kong. Saved by human to much??? I feel your looking to hard for an excuse. The dropkick was a boss move by Kong. That was power. Both kings were great in this film.

'Godzilla vs Kong breaks the repetitive pattern set in previous films'
    Kong:
    1. Gets whipped in the first fight, whether he was weakend or not is irrelevent, Godzilla still had the homefield advantage which was a pretty big factor. Even if Komg were at full strength imo, he still would have lost WITH human intervention in Round 1.
    2. Proceeds to 'power up' with a weapon perfectly designed to counter Godzilla, which in the end did little more than stun Godzilla and tear a gash into his thigh. Proceeds to retreat to maintain some level of advantage, not like it helped in the long run.
    3. Gets whalloped once he loses his power and Godzilla resorts to pure hand to hand, resulting in yet another win for Godzilla.
My point is, there was no pattern that was broken with this movie, other than I suppose Godzilla teaming ip with an adversary to fight the adversary he originally sought after.
(Edit) I'd love to continue this discussion, because you have some interesting views that I wanna know more about, and seeing as I'm only 40-45% throught your entiee review, I haven't gotten your entire argument just yet.

@@KingKong19100 To set my position straight, I'm saying that, that very pattern of Godzilla winning the initial fight, Kong and his team strategically retreating, them returning for a second battle where Godzilla's opponent comes out on top, either through, power ups, like Kong's axe and the Jinshin Mushi's and Ghidorah's power amps(in Ghidorah's case he came out on top twice, his biological advantage against the oxygen destroyer and his electrical amp in Boston)and then the third confrontation resulting in Godzilla's victory, that specific pattern is what I'm talking about, how they handle the titan action. Now, I may be missing your point, so if I am, let me know.

Your views on the battle results in KotM are the complete opposite of mine. Monsterverse Godzilla finally gets his solo WIN without interference on his behalf. I do not count arena exits as wins when before the exit the battle was one sided on the winners behalf. Ghidorah was kicking Godzilla's ass until the military arrived and started distracting him like a swarm of bees. Godzilla does not have plot armor when it comes to his fights. It's usually the opposite, the plot interferes with his ability to win since monsters either get a free pass or team up whereas solo they were useless. Kong was being toyed with and was Godzilla's mercy twice. I applaud him for trying but I would definitely say his plot armor was WAYYYYYY stronger. He was saved by the humans at the Tasman Sea, saved by them when he was being choked out by Warbat, got an axe made of Godzilla to fight Godzilla, was saved by humans again where he almost died, and then saved twice by Godzilla and once more by humans when they fought Mechagodzilla. In its entirety, Kong received more help in this one movie than Godzilla has in the entirety of the MV and I was a little off-put by that for someone who's supposed to be an Alpha titan that Godzilla sees as a possible threat to his crown.

Kong was only toyed and overpowered during the last 20 secs of the entire fight. Throughout the rest of the Hong Kong fight, he was dominant against Godzilla. He whooped him in hand to hand combat with greater arm strength and faster combat speed. Then he dodged all of Godzilla's atomic breath shots except for one such he tanked. Then hit Godzilla with the axe so hard he fell down toppling over two buildings. Kong was just as skilled as Godzilla which is why he put up a much better hand to hand brawl and got more physical hits in than Ghidorah ever did lol 😂. All Ghidorah ever did was spam his gravity beams and get smothered in hand to hand to combat against the much more skilled Godzilla. And Kong did more physical body damage to Godzilla than Ghidorah did. So in a way, Kong put up a better fight than Ghidorah did. But you probably won't agree with this.

If you don't count retreats (the act of forfeiting a battle) as a loss, even though the novels outright confirm Ghidorah retreated, then this argument isn't gonna go anywhere right off the bat. Ghidorah got decimated in H2H, I've even broken the fights down and shown that. He resorted to gravity beams, Godzilla closes the distance, Ghidorah retreats. That isn't a win. At all. Ghidorah loses Mexico and still loses Boston even after he finally stands a chance with his power-up (actually that's the ONLY reason he stood a chance. But hey that's the same case with most these kaiju).
That brings me to my next point. Yeah, Godzilla has plot armor. Godzilla has been written to always defeat each monster one on one first encounter. It gets to the point where I have to wonder if it's a damn contractual obligation Toho created for fear of their monster being perceived as weak. Godzilla being able to decimate any opponent just because is kinda plot armor in and of itself.
But yeah dude I completely agree with you on Kong. He's a complete pushover. The thing with him is that he'll do things like drop mean blows in the fight with Godzilla, or take that axe-blast which knocked Godzilla out but he can get right back up from despite having more momentum and basically being closer to the blast, or him causing a crater casually in Kingdom Kong. He'll have some really good feats but I think Godzilla is just much, MUCH more powerful. Because that's how the MV kaiju are structured. In base forms, first is MG, second is Godzilla, third is Kong, and other monsters reign beneath. Kong was in his base form in HK. He had the axe, but he was never powered up as I explain. His punches rock a 164k ton Godzilla, so it'd probably be much more devastating to lighter smaller opponents like Ghidorah (weight-wise) and Muto Prime. But he was still a pushover in this film, I agree.

@@aadritmedhi5741 I think the reason Kong whooped him was because Godzilla really wasn’t trying, he was just trying to bulldoze Kong with the Atomic breath and thats it. After he got fed up with Kong’s antics because you know he has better things to do, he decided to bulldoze Kong in hand to hand combat through his sheer rage. So to put it lightly, Godzilla was trying to look for MechaGodzilla, he sensed Kong under the hallow Eath, he beams it so he can prevent Kong from getting in the way and to tell him to stop causing a ruckus, Kong comes up and wants to fight, Godzilla pretty much says that Kong should back off, Kong, as stubborn as a mule, charges forward and their fight starts, Godzilla not caring at all for Kong just wants to bulldoze him so he can get to his objective which is to destroy MG, but Kong keeps on countering and dodging, Kong used an axe made from a Godzilla dorsal plate, he knocks down Godzilla, he doesn’t knock him out as the Novelization pretty much confirms Godzilla was still conscious and he got up immediately after, then Godzilla goes full on rage mode because Kong pretty much used a Godzilla family member to hurt Godzilla, then Godzilla completely destroys Kong because he wants him to back down and submit. Of course that backfires and Godzilla respects Kong, but he still leaves him to die because he really doesn’t care.
Also Godzilla is confirmed to be the stronger Monster of the 2, sure Kong is strong but Godzilla was confirmed by the director to be the much more stronger monster. He didn’t say more powerful, he just meant Godzilla has greater strength than Kong. Kong makes it up with his speed and intelligence.

This is the best movie in the monsterverse next to Kong skull island and king of the monsters at 3rd place and I love that movie flaws and all. If legendary wants to make more movies after the skull island animated series on Netflix that's amazing. Then we have 2 Godzilla franchises going on at the same time. Also give singular point a chance I've just seen 3 episodes and wow it's very interesting.12:20 what's wrong with that. Their like a day old. They don't have he fighting experience like muto prime who killed multiple Godzilla's. It makes sense for them to double team Godzilla. Heck I'm sure even mature mutos needed to double or triple team their enemies to win a fight. 12:26 yeah because she's not at full power. She was asleep for a long time and she needs a recharge. That makes sense. Heck it also makes sense for all Titans. They been asleep for million of years and are not at full strength. 16:26 that's the point Kong is not as durable as Godzilla or ghidorah etc. He's flesh and blood he can be killed easily that's the point. So him being saved most of the time is a good thing. Beside he still put up a great fight against Godzilla and Mechagodzilla and I love it. Yes he lost 2 rounds with Godzilla but that shows that he is still not as experience with titans. 22:05 actually it's confirmed that the military upgraded their missiles to hurt titans especially Godzilla. 25:23 Rodan is basically a living volcano he destroy the environment but can also heal it. Ghidorah is a invasive species and doesn't belong on earth that's the point. It's not hard to understand. 32:59 Godzilla only attack those that are a threat apex creating Mechagodzilla is a threat not humanity as a whole. Why Godzilla vs Kong's Winner Was The Right Choice
Godzilla vs. Kong kept the MonsterVerse's biggest promise by having one Titan defeat the other. Here's why [SPOILER] deserved the victory. The MonsterVerse made the right choice in having Godzilla win during the final battle in Godzilla vs. Kong. In taking down Kong, Godzilla was able to retain his King of the Monsters title, which he gained in the previous MonsterVerse entry when he killed Ghidorah.
For decades, fans have debated which giant monster would win in a fight. The 1962 crossover, King Kong vs. Godzilla, ended in a manner that favored the giant ape. Both monsters fell into the ocean, and only Kong emerged in the aftermath. This gave the impression that Kong won the fight, but that didn’t settle any arguments. Many have maintained over the years that Godzilla should have defeated King Kong in the first fight. It wasn’t until the launch of the MonsterVerse and the official confirmation that Godzilla vs. Kong was on its way that it became apparent the Japanese pop culture icon would finally get a chance to avenge his 1962 loss. Naturally, there was a concern that in an effort to satisfy both fanbases, the movie would end their fight with a draw. However, Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard said back in 2017 that there would indeed be a definitive winner when the two Titans came to blows. Now that the movie has been released, it’s been confirmed that the MonsterVerse kept its biggest promise. To the delight of many and to the disappointment of others, Godzilla defeated Kong, thus further legitimatizing his status as the Alpha Titan. How Godzilla Defeats Kong? Godzilla had the upper hand from the very beginning of their MonsterVerse fight. Godzilla’s sheer physical might proved to be quite the challenge for Kong, which was on display during their brief standoff on the battleship. Kong was able to make Godzilla stumble, whereas one good hit from Godzilla was capable of knocking him on his back. Even at this early stage in the movie, it was clear that Godzilla was stronger. Thanks in large part to Godzilla being at home in the water, he nearly drowned Kong and was the obvious winner of the first round. The second fight was a bit different, as the King of the Monsters had a great deal of difficulty dealing with Kong’s new weapon. Not only was it a good defense for Godzilla’s atomic breath, but it could also pierce the Titan’s thick hide. The axe certainly helped to even the odds, but it didn’t take away all of Kong’s problems. Godzilla’s atomic breath and brute strength continued to be his best weapons against Kong. Because of the axe’s ability to catch Godzilla’s energy attacks, Kong was able to come out ahead in a collision between the two. Following Godzilla’s recovery, the fight raged on, but Kong was without the axe for the remainder of the battle. A powerful throw from Godzilla dislocated Kong’s shoulder, and as a result, his defeat became imminent. After repeatedly clawing his weakened opponent, Godzilla placed his foot on Kong’s chest in a showing of superiority. Kong struggled at first, but eventually relented, having realized that the fight was over. Why Godzilla Winning Was Best? Godzilla beating Kong was the best possible conclusion the MonsterVerse could have delivered. It’s, of course, easy to root for an underdog like Kong, especially since he’s a relatable and sympathetic figure, but this is one situation where the predictable outcome was the best outcome. Based on the history of both creatures and who they are in the MonsterVerse, Godzilla winning was the resolution that made the most sense. As Wingard has said in the past, the idea behind this movie was to feature a showdown between the “definitive” versions of Godzilla and Kong, which meant that it was of great importance that the MonsterVerse be true to who they were as characters. The MonsterVerse’s Godzilla shares a few differences to Toho’s, but for the most part he’s regarded by fans as an accurate portrayal of the King of the Monsters. He has a long-held reputation as a supremely powerful force of nature who has defended human civilization from global threats. Kong, on the other hand, is known as a humongous ape who lives on an island populated by other strange and rather large creatures. Most of his opponents are dinosaurs and other creatures that threaten the people of the island. As the King of Skull Island, Kong lords over one small corner of the planet, while Godzilla - the King of the Monsters - is regarded as the alpha predator of the entire world. All of this is why there’s a feeling to be had that Godzilla is on a different level to Kong. This notion is reinforced by the fact that in both crossover movies, significant improvements had to be made to Kong just to make a fight possible. In King Kong vs. Godzilla, Kong had to get a massive size boost and new electrical powers to win. The growth spurt was necessary for the MonsterVerse version as well, but that alone wasn’t enough this time either. Kong had to be equipped with an axe made from Godzilla’s spikes to be a sufficient match for him. It’s for these reasons that Kong overcoming Godzilla is an ending that wouldn’t have felt earned. It’s Good Godzilla Chose Not To Kill Kong. Unlike superheroes, monsters aren’t usually driven or hindered by morality, so there was a worry among fans that the loser of Godzilla vs. Kong may not walk away from their final encounter in one piece. Fortunately, the movie didn’t end with one Titan killing the other (even though that easily could have happened). Since it ended in this way, both Titans can have a future in the MonsterVerse.
It’s worth noting that there’s special meaning to be found in Godzilla passing on an opportunity to kill Kong. Godzilla sparing Kong demonstrated that he was never the villain he was accused of being in the marketing, and it allowed him to hold on to the heroic image that he created for himself in his first two MonsterVerse appearances. Also, his decision didn’t feel out-of-character in any sense. Instead, it spoke to his very nature as the alpha of the Titans and made him a deeper character. Their ancient rivalry may have had a lot to do with why he sought out Kong, but Godzilla wasn’t just a monster mindlessly hunting down an enemy because of a hatred he inherited from his ancestors. What Godzilla really wanted was to assert his dominance over a rival alpha and make Kong understand that he was the true King of the Monsters. By defeating Kong, he was able to achieve his own goal and lay to rest a debate that’s persisted for over half a century.

@@thorodinson6625 Godzilla And Kong May Fight Again In Future MonsterVerse Crossover Movie:
In the buildup to Godzilla vs. Kong, director Adam Wingard promised that there would be a definitive winner, but that was a little bit of a white lie. Both Titans were still standing tall by the time the credits rolled, with the filmmaker backtracking and leaning on the old ‘Godzilla won the fight but Kong won the movie’ excuse.
Of course, it wasn’t as if Legendary and Warner Bros. were going to kill off one of the franchise’s two biggest selling points, especially looking at the box office total, which has Godzilla vs. Kong surging past $415 million globally as of this weekend. Sure enough, a new chapter in the MonsterVerse is in the works with Wingard in talks to return, but that’s all we know so far, even if Son of Kong has reportedly been floated internally as a potential title. However, we’ve heard from our sources this week - the same ones who told us Ben Affleck would be returning as Batman in The Flash long before it was confirmed - that the two titular monsters from the recent smash hit creature feature will end up facing off again somewhere down the line, although further details remain sketchy for the time being.
Godzilla vs. Kong 2 wouldn’t really land the same way after we’ve already seen the concept brought to life, but throw some other Titans into the mix for a royal rumble and audiences would be sure to show up in their droves. Alternatively, we could see a lengthy flashback to their first battle thousands of years ago when they were the two top dogs on the planet, but in any case, one thing you can guarantee is that they won’t be heading off to the kaiju retirement home for a long time yet.

He also didn't like Kong because there can't be 2 alpha titans but at the end, he's ok with kong ruling the hollow earth. I'd like to add about the fact why Godzilla didn't punish humanity for trying to kill him. Because the atomic bombs don't even hurt him..heck it feeds him. What about the oxygen destroyer ? Well he was probably mad, but he saw Serizawa's sacrifice to feed him with a nuclear bomb, it explains why he was staring at the submarine after being fully recharged, he was mad at humans but let it passed.

@@titanuskolasaurus2050 he was almost as fast as kong in round 3 which made me so confused because thats like kongs second biggest attribute his speed and they made it even?, when godzilla is supposed to be relatively slow?, that caught me off guard but the movie is still badass

@@rag9740 Well I think they were trying to go more Showa era. Godzilla is surprisingly fast in his past films and comics. Mostly the Showa era. Instead of giving him fast movement speed. They should have gave Godzilla one of his best things in combat and that is his reflexes and reaction speed. Godzilla has always been able to keep up with Kaiju even if he was relatively slow compared to them, he can catch fighter jets, react to lasers, dodge them, fight monsters that actually moved at lightspeeds and what not. I don’t mind Godzilla being agile, in fact this is a pretty good agile Godzilla, but if he was this agile, they should have made Kong more agile than him.
Basically movement speed would be Kong and reaction speed would be Godzilla

I'm honestly curious to know why you think the soundtrack in GvK is better then Kotm. I respect your opinion but I disagree and I'm just curious to know why you think the soundtrack is better.

Not sure. I like the much more epic feeling of the 2021 soundtrack as opposed to 2019. Don't get me wrong, there's a couple good tracks in both films (I love the main Godzilla theme, and Emma's Redemption one), but there was so much chanting in the 2019 one it came off as obnoxious after 70 minutes in.

@@KingKong19100 I understand where your coming from. But personally I thought the soundtrack in GvK was somewhat generic. It definitely has some good pieces like when Kong finds his axe in his ancestors throne room, or the track that plays when Godzilla says bye to Kong and the theme that plays during the opening credits but as a whole, the soundtrack imo was a bit generic and forgettable. Whereas the soundtrack in Kotm felt epic and it made alot of scenes better. My favorite tracks are Godzilla's theme, Mothra's theme, Redemption, Goodbye Old Friend and Battle In Boston. And honestly the chanting didn't really bother me though I do agree it was used a little too often.

I loved the movie a lot! It was amazing! Only two things I would change is Godzilla's strength and take it down a notch. Then just make his atomic breath like the kotm version or 2014 version

  • @lightninggodzillaandchompt4014

If I fixed Godzilla vs Kong then I’ll make Godzilla defeat Kong in round 3 different and after fighting mechagodzilla and Godzilla becomes oh Adam west Batman titan and keep the humans safe and Kong protect the hollow earth

32:44 except Godzilla is not that stupid since he knows that not every human thinks the same thing, so if a threat is caused by humans, he'll go after the group of people who did it.

Not true. Wingard didn't say that. He said godzilla exhausted his nuclear breath after going three rounds with Kong. Kong drew him to 50%.
