    _Wasshoi wasshoi!_
    Welcome back to BabyMetal's journey.
We got another banger for Japanese festival or any festival around, they performed this at the recent World Tour 2023 and getting the crowd going bonkers with this.
The live debut was at Apocrypha - Another One exclusive show prior to the track release, it was fun and totally unexpected, everyone was having a blast and even started with a Kami Band solo after a while without it.
There's a live proshot version at Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka released in the official summer sonic. You'll notice some slight difference between the live and the studio album.
The song title is Metali!! (metal + matsuri, which is a Japanese festival) and you can hear it in the spoken section when MomoMetal is doing the Kabuki moves style.
Just so you know "wasshoi" is another shout used in Japanese festivals when men are carrying the shrine, similar to sore and soya in Megitsune and Karate. The traditional Japanese instrument you can hear in the beginning is a shamizen, also used in Megitsune.
I can totally see why they pick Tom Morello on this, the groove, the catchiness, the super energetic jump and those typical 90's vibes at funk or alternative metal live concerts.
    Next suggestion:
    - MAYA live at PIA Arena MM official MV.
Thanks for sharing this and see you next time.🦊🤘🎸

    Great reaction, thanks!
Yes, "Metali!" is a "matsuri" (festival) influenced song and it's all about hyping the crowd and inviting them to dance and sing along. It has several connections to "Megitsune" both in the lyrics (chants, etc.) and the music video itself. Like when they clear the tatami by kicking aside the tea sets. In "Megitsune" they get rid of the kimonos by pulling the "obi" (kimono sash). They are apparently telling us that they put aside the more restrictive and elitist traditions in favor of the more popular and inclusive ones.
Musically, it's very groovy and funky. I love Su's clean yet aggressive vocals here. Really cool collaboration with Tom Morello who commented this: "I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I've been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of 'Metali!!' I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!".
And very happy for Momoko on her first song and music video as an official member and also for her feature on that kabuki (traditional Japanese theater) style interlude

    Great reaction!
Song title, is a word mash of Metal + Matsuri (Festival) = Metali (Metal Fesitval).
The translation was so janky, looks like the creator ran the lyrics through google translate lol. At least you got the core of the meaning.
Wasshoi: In Japanese festival traditions, a team of people will yell “Wasshoi!”repeatedly as they lift parade floats. Kinda line “Uumph!”
Nekki and Nekka: Slang for “boys and girls”
    Dokkshoi: similar usage to “Wasshoi”
On the song: Babymetal kicks away restrictive “high-brow” traditions (tea set & male only kabuki theater) and calls on all the common folk boys and girls to to get together, make a circle, and dance and sing like fools at a metal festival while giant Tom Morello turns his guitar into a turntable, lol!🤣🔥
Look forward to more Babymetal! (and don’t make us wait so long) 😉🤘🦊

"Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi!“ The live performances of this were all completely wild and the crowd went nuts! 🤘🤪🤘Sadly Tom Morello did not make an appearance in any of the US tour dates (and they played 29 or 30 of them).
This is what Tom Morello had to say about this collaboration:
"I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I've been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of 'Metali!!' I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!"

Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。The title is a synthesized word from two words : "Metal" and "Matsuri 祭 (festival)" → Metali.
And if you want to know the deep meaning of the lyrics please check Professor Hartley's channel (Andrew Hartley).
I am sure you would prefer live rendition to this MV because this song followed after a cool instrumental intros by Western (American) Kami Band at the venue. This song was one in the setlist performed all of the shows in the North American tour (29 gigs) with Dethklok and EU/UK tour (20 gigs). I appreciate the devoted support by Chris, CJ, Anthony and Clint (and Ryan in NA tour).
Momometal's extravagant elocution and moves in Kabuki style (and her growl in live show) gave an amazing accent in the exciting repetitiveness. The repetitive わっしょい "Wasshoi" is a call or yell used in Japanese Matsuri (festival) to intensify people's excitement and especially to encourage the power of guys who are carrying a heavy Mikoshi (神輿) on their shoulder that is a kind of a float in Western style festivals.

BABYMETAL HAS GOT THEIR KAWAII BACK!!! (And I sincerely hope that they don't misplace it again!)
(This music video would have been so much better had they not had Vin Diesel in the background wearing a panama hat and pretending to play guitar. 😁 )

@@ALovelyPenguin LOL!!! And that's the legend BABYMETAL who could have done this song easily without "the legend Tom Morello". 😁
Undoubtedly, Mr. Morello is a fine guitarist but it seems to me he didn't do anything that the kids in the Kami Band couldn't have done. IMO, I think this collab was done with the same intention as the collab with Lil Uzi - to introduce BABYMETAL to a larger fan base. 🤘🦊🤘

For new songs, I recommend live performances of Monochrome, Divine Attack, MAYA, Mirror Mirror and Believing, all of them at their recent BABYMETAL Begins 2023 concerts, Black and Clear Nights. Though I also recommend any song from them, even older ones such as Road of Resistance, iine! and Megitsune.

The lyrics are no correct most of the time. Momometal says:
~ you’re a fool if you dance, and a fool if you just look on, so let’s dance
If you don't dance now, when will you do it?
    Metari, metari.

"Wasshoi" is what you would yell in a group event, like "Heave!" in a tug of war or pushing a car out of a ditch. They use it in their festivals as they move large objects or pull sleds.... I think... :)

Wasshoi! ' 'Wasshoi' is a chant typically used by a group of people to synchronize their movements, to encourage each other, and-most importantly, like in the situation described above-to gather strength to carry a heavy load. Usually two halfs of a team shout, 'wasshoi, wasshoi!
