🥰 I learned this technique from The Peppermint Cactus! Now she is using a wood graining tool for added detail on top of this finished look. Amazing!! Nice job..love 5his technique!❤
Thank you for such a detailed and well-explained tutorial! It was really helpful to me and I’m now subscribed and following your channel! Oh and I absolutely enjoyed your dog’s squeaking toy sounds in the background lol! Have a great day 😊
I only buy the clear wax, and the antique wax, I probably wouldn't even have to buy the antique wax, because you can tint the clear, any color you want. I just found your channel. New sub. 😊
@@GilbertMarketplace Have you ever tried other grain effects? I got a book on painting techniques and one of the advanced methods shows how to do Mahogany burl. A prized, exotic and expensive wood grain pattern. Made from those big bulges on trees, i think Maple is prized for these tumor like growths also.
I made faux shutters and hung boxwood wreaths off of them, I have also made one to use as a backdrop for my photos I have seen some people do a whole accent wall as well. If you join my DIY Facebook page I should have some photos on there facebook.com/groups/924624524707852
Waverly Clear Wax Waverly Antique Wax Waverly Ink Chalk Paint Readi-board (Foam Board) 1 Bath sponge cut in half from Dollar Tree 1 Makeup Sponge from Dollar Tree 1 sharp razor blade (to cut the board, I suggest only a razor no handle or anything so it doesn't snag along the board) and to mix the paints I used a metal Stove burner cover from the Dollar Tree
I am going to work on a way to add subtitles but I believe if you click the little cc button on the bottom right hand corner UA-cam adds the closed caption (subtitles) hopefully that helps! I just know sometimes the UA-cam subtitles switch up some words
@@theresacarter1685 Thank you I am working on getting a microphone so it hopefully helps on future videos :) I also uploaded a step by step today with clips of videos so hopefully that helps also!
This is amazing!!!!! Funny side note the whole time you was using the sponge on the foam board I was cringing hahaha 😂 kinda like nails on a chalkboard but the funny part is, is that even though the sound wigged me out I kept right on watching 😂
Thank you for this tutorial, I have wanted to do some faux wood and this looks like the best way so far. I found you through the dollar tree cricut craft group, and I'm so glad I did! My question is: What can you use to seal these planks of faux wood? I am looking at using them as a background for a framed saying, and also stand alone. I live in Florida, the weather can damage items quickly if not sealed. Also, little fingers can tend to touch and/or pick at open stand alone items. Currently I have Crystalac, Polycrylic, Mod Podge Spray Sealant, and Mod Podge brush on sealers to choose from. Will any of these work or do I need a different product?
Any alternatives to the antique wax? I’m in Canada and our Walmart only carries Faulk Art chalk paint in white, black & light grey... I really want to find a substitute for the Waverly Chalk paint antique wax.
I haven't personally used another wax for this technique but I have used Annie Salon wax many of times before and it is basically the same concept so I think if you used any form of a wax it should work the same for you:) The wax is super important though since that is what prevents the boards from absorbing to much and curling
If you watch the video I uploaded yesterday (you inspired me to try another brand lol) for the grey faux wood I used Annie Salon's wax in black and it worked great! Its a perfect alternative and after using this I am more then sure any brand of wax will work :) Happy Crafting!
I found these in the craft section at Walmart where they have all the paints its Waverly so it usually has its own shelf and is usually one of the first few... They have white, antique, and clear
Great tutorial! It would be helpful if you spoke a little louder, I was really straining to hear you. Love the end product! I’ll be returning the chalk paint that I thought would look good for creating faux wood and buying craft waxes 😊. Thank you for this tutorial!
Yes any wax brand works I have also used Annie salon in replace of the waverly. Waverly was hit hard with Covid so the plant was shut down which is why it has been so hard to find but I believe they are up and running and should be restocking soon
Unfortunately I have had some people say this was a problem while others say it was to loud However, On the bottom right hand corner there is a little cc button this will enable closed captions I just received my microphone so hopefully it will help for future videos
Im sorry, I have been having some sound issues it sounds like from a couple different people I am going to work on this so hopefully soon it will be easier for everyone... In the meantime I know UA-cam has the option for closed caption on the bottom left hand side where it has a cc that may be helpful

These look awesome! Would this technique work on pink foam boards like you use for Halloween boarded up windows or would the pink show through?
I think pink would show unless you painted solid before you did the other colors
Thanks for sharing. You do an amazing job. I subscribe to your channel today.

well because its a wax that should be fine as a sealer. you cold also use a matte spray but lightly mist
Love it
Thank you
Very nice! What do you use to stick it to the wall?
you can use command strips
Looks great. What did you use that for?
I have done a couple different ones these ones I used as a back for a boxwood wreath that i hung

Gilbert Marketplace yes, I saw it after. Thank you. :)
can you use acrylic paint instead of chalk paint, along with wavery wax? thanks
I think most works fine
I just want to ask if the wax dries or cures on the boards or can it rub off on anything that touches the boards?
no it dries its not a real waxy wax if that makes sense
This is awesome!! What section in the store do you find the waxes?
I found these in the craft section at Walmart where they have all the paints its Waverly so it usually has its own shelf and is usually one of the first few... They have white, antique, and clear

Thank you I’ll try to speak loader I think it’s the distance of the phone. The wax is easy for sure
I could barely hear you. But the demonstration was on point.
thanks i'm sorry working on this issue
Are you able to put any type of sealant over it once you’re done?
was you don't need to
Do you need to seal it? I want to use on a ceiling in my husband’s small work shop.
no but you sure could
All of my Walmart's are out of Waverly, can you use just Black chalk paint, clear wax, and a brown wax?
Yes any wax brand works I have also used Annie salon in replace of the waverly. Waverly was hit hard with Covid so the plant was shut down which is why it has been so hard to find but I believe they are up and running and should be restocking soon
I missed what kind of paint, acrylic or oil? Thanks
acrylic oil to messy
Woooooow
Thanks
