A prized, exotic and expensive wood grain pattern. Made from those big bulges on trees, i think Maple is prized for these tumor like growths also.

      Waverly Clear Wax
      Waverly Antique Wax

      Readi-board (Foam Board)
      1 Bath sponge cut in half from Dollar Tree
      1 Makeup Sponge from Dollar Tree
      1 sharp razor blade (to cut the board, I suggest only a razor no handle or anything so it doesn't snag along the board)

    Thank you for this tutorial, I have wanted to do some faux wood and this looks like the best way so far. I found you through the dollar tree cricut craft group,and I'm so glad I did! My question is: What can you use to seal these planks of faux wood? I am looking at using them as a background for a framed saying, and also stand alone. I live in Florida, the weather can damage items quickly if not sealed. Also, little fingers can tend to touch and/or pick at open stand alone items. Currently I have Crystalac, Polycrylic, Mod Podge Spray Sealant, and Mod Podge brush on sealers to choose from. Will any of these work or do I need a different product?

    • @GilbertMarketplace
      @GilbertMarketplace  2 роки тому +1

      well because its a wax that should be fine as a sealer. you cold also use a matte spray but lightly mist

    Any alternatives to the antique wax? I’m in Canada and our Walmart only carries Faulk Art chalk paint in white, black & light grey... I really want to find a substitute for the Waverly Chalk paint antique wax.

    • @GilbertMarketplace
      @GilbertMarketplace  4 роки тому

      I haven't personally used another wax for this technique but I have used Annie Salon wax many of times before and it is basically the same concept so I think if you used any form of a wax it should work the same for you:) The wax is super important though since that is what prevents the boards from absorbing to much and curling

    • @GilbertMarketplace
      @GilbertMarketplace  4 роки тому +1

      If you watch the video I uploaded yesterday (you inspired me to try another brand lol) for the grey faux wood I used Annie Salon's wax in black and it worked great! Its a perfect alternative and after using this I am more then sure any brand of wax will work :) Happy Crafting!
