I've seen a few reviews talk about how it's disappointing that there's no EyeSight Tech with the MT and... honestly, I say good riddance. I have a '17 OB Limited 3.6R, and the EyeSight Tech is a pain in the ass. It slams on brakes at weird times (like when someone is turning in front of me and it thinks I'm getting too close, but a small steering adjustment to the left would easily avoid any potential collision), it picks up on tall grasses when I go camping and slams on brakes when I'm trying to back up, the cruise won't work if you're on dark roads and the EyeSight can't pick up on the lines... I get that Subaru is trying to think for you and make the car avoid any potential collision that might ever come your way so they can continue to say they're the safest car in the universe, but as someone who's leaning hard towards a '23 WRX as my next daily, I can't wait to not have EyeSight.
If you use cheaper gas than recommended, you will lose performance and possibly damage your engine. With turbo vehicles, it's always a good idea to buy the best quality fuel available
Awesome review! Just got my 2022 WRX Premium and I LOVE IT!!! I do notice from 1 to 2 gear is a bit jerky even when I let off the clutch super slowly. I usually shift between 2500-3000 RPM. Any suggestions for a smoother transition??
From my experience with the 2019, it becomes smoother the more you drive it. It could be a mixture of getting used to where you need to shift and mentally and adjusting to predicting revs (the 2019 had rev hang between 1st and 2nd that took some getting used to). Also, it could be a bit of just breaking it in. I'm at 80k miles now and I can be smooth between all gears. I haven't been able to test out a 2022 yet for comparison but am hoping to get my chance soon. I am looking at a 2022 limited manual that just came into my local dealership.
Had a 2020 sti, this hands down is much better and is actually faster than the sti. Also faster than an sti on a technical track. There are already videos out of the 2022 wrx dusting the sti on the track. Also videos out of the 2022 wrx widely gapping the VA.
@Ian Holmquist I wish. But that isn't the case. Although on paper the sti makes more power the wrx VB is as fast or faster than the STI. Lots of videos out there proving this.

Bro wtf is that shifting? Never seen anyone jack up a transfer case so quickly. Spend an afternoon in a parking lot to learn the feel of a clutch before shifting. That’s soooo rough
I like them and always wanted one. Contemplating on trading in my Ford Flex ecoboost (365hp/375lb, 5k lbs though). I know they are completely different drives but would I be disappointed in power/torque?
nah cause it's lighter. Test drive it
@Justin the wrx has a quicker 0-60 and quarter mile time than your ford. So I doubt power will disappoint.
When I heard "please remember to put premium gas in it." I mentally checked out. Gas is more expensive than this car.
The 2022 wrx no longer requires premium and takes 87 all day long
I dig the cladding!
Hyundai Elantra has 5 more horsepower than the WRX? Which Elantra is that?
Not sure if I should keep my 22 civic or should I trade for this Wrx 🤔
trade
The computer screen is really low res! I wish they hadn’t cheaped out on it! They should wrap the horn with micro material like Mclaren does on their cars which would give it a more upscale feel….Brembos, Recaros and short throw shifter would be nice!
I have a 2023 wrx manual transmission. My max boost says 14.3 psi?
Anyone know if the seats are high maintenance? Not familiar with the ultra suade and if it handles stains.
Watching your hair thinning. Try finasteride. People say male/female pattern baldness cannot be treated. This is incorrect. Treat MPB/FPB early and all hair grows back. This is for you son.
Finasteride also causes impotence. I don't even want to take that chance.
@@GodSonBlessed I dig impotence
@@doniciovelasquez9904 and you're a joke baldy.
Is it premium gas only?
Hey Sofyan, Great job as always on your reviews. What is really missing are real world roll on numbers. Fairly confident that no car enthusiast would ever do 4500K launches on their personal vehicle. Maybe you could be the guy who gives us real numbers at say a 5/10 mph roll on to 60/100. I think we all understand why the factory guys want everyone to post the lowest 0 to 60 numbers. Not real world driving. Just saying.
Really good point
Lol wtf do you buy your car for? You must be broke if you're too scared to drive your car how it was meant to be driven. I'm sure the next buyer appreciates you babying your tools lmao.
Is life boring for a guy like you?
They had seven years and they couldn't build a car that is discernably better than the last version.
Just got one an hour ago...the screen is dim as Hell, lol. Got it on a blazing, 92° day and its hard to see it at times even with the brightness maxxed.
I think I just heard the transmission and differentials shatter
seriously, he's so bad at driving manual
The gray and orange look very good. I hate the iPad inspired dashboard and no light interior color.
Dude, the WRX logo on the passenger headrest is crooked. I can't stop looking at it now.
Same
What soyfan doesn't mention is that this trim level has headlights that turn with the wheel :/
Why didn't they just redesign the hatchback that's what most people want ☹☹☹
Great review. Definitely looks better in the darker color.
that texture on the plastic isn’t for the aerodynamics lol, it’s so they can manufacture it without it looking like cheap shit that it is.
who asked for this cladding???
I hate the cladding and fake vents. Guessing the next gen will go all Civic and smooth it out. What was Subaru thinking with that trip reset button? Right up there with the Toyota cruise control location.
Vents are not fake and actually work.
@@illyack5593
@Illy Ack
The rear vents are fake, according to Sofyan, that is what I meant. 05:30
Do you have any plans on reviewing a WRX GT?
It has already been done but this engine can handle a 35% increase in power easily. It has already been pushed past 400hp successfully
Too soon to tell if it can last at that power level though
the Recaros are Alcantara not suede
Do you recommend filling up with regular gas or premium gas ?
Manuel states to use premium unless it is not available
Wait until 3500-4000 rpm to shift and let clutch out a bit slower.
Practice. The same way everyone elese learns to drive manual
Have to slip it too launch it right. Clutch dump is not the way..
All that "aerodynamic" cladding and it gets worse mpg and a 3hp bump. Noo thanks
Excellent reveiw 🐇
I'm not mad at all the cladding. It's going to keep paint chips from dirt roads down.
Just wait a few years when the sun fades all that plastic cladding. It’s going to look more cheap and awful than it already does now. 😂
This car looks more like a Honda Civic then a Honda Civic does
It be interesting if Subaru add this engine and manual to the BRZ sports car
The transmission is already the same. Subaru doesn't have the money for 2 different manual transmissions any more (RIP Sti)
I get mine next month can wait
I cannot live with the bubbly icon on the infotainment. this is so iphone 3G/samsung S3 era
I own it and it’s better than the last gen, you’ll get used to the cladding once you look at it more, mine is in World Rally Blue
Had a 2020 sti, this hands down is much better and is actually faster than the sti. Also faster than an sti on a technical track. There are already videos out of the 2022 wrx dusting the sti on the track. Also videos out of the 2022 wrx widely gapping the VA.
@@illyack5593 the sti weighs the same and makes more power and torque. Sti is still faster.
@Ian Holmquist I wish. But that isn't the case. Although on paper the sti makes more power the wrx VB is as fast or faster than the STI. Lots of videos out there proving this.
@Illy Ack i wouldn't trust a yt video to prove anything. Sti is faster the end.
@@ianholmquist8492 I love seeing their Evo X looking bumpers on my rear view mirror
I don't like the cladding in the rear.
Wow, that rear is not good.
Subaru maker the best cvt, they have too much time with it. They're not going to change it
