@@dhh488 Hi! I’m soon going to get an Alpine iLX-W650 head unit as during Covid you couldn’t find any head units worth a good fart. That sound proofing is the key tho. Let me know what you come up with! @@BigRoss246 Hey Big Ross, thanks for the response. I see the head unit you're looking at is $400, so not too bad. I'll have to give this more thought, but thanks again.
It is such a nice 4runner, but goodness gracious, 20k is unreal !!! My 4runner only has about $2500 in upgrades. Level kit and wheel/tires. As for the body, I actually did my own viper cut mod which came out good. The next thing I want to do is put a metal rear bumper and that's about it for now. That will get me closer to 3k in mods... Lol I don't know how you got to 20k but still, your build is awesome 👏🏽
Great video and well edited. I like your first discussion on having a dog and how it impacted your exploration adventures. I too want a camping buddy (dog) but not sure I want to give up that flexibility to go anywhere at anytime. Thanks!
I reheated mine to 4.88’s and it’s perfect, drives like stock or maybe even a little better and I can do 90 all day long uphill if needed. You’ll love the upgrade
Nice! I’ve got the 4Runner addiction bad. What a wonderful life it would be traveling and camping! We off grid camp a lot but my entire set up is in a large Alice pack. You have a great companion! Enjoy!
My most expensive mod for my 2019 4Runner TRD Off Road is the Magnuson supercharger. That was $7k and I got a lot more out of my build, spending close to as much, including the ss. $20k in mods, just on the things she mentioned is just money not well spent. You don't need those expensive Fox Shocks, not for overlanding. I have a Magnuson Supercharger (my favorite mod), King Shocks, Victory 4x4 Blitz slim front Winch Bumper and Warn winch, 35" KM3s given to me by my brother's shop (I swap based on needs), No RTT so have my entire roof back as storage. Lots of storage!😁 I did a rear seat delete in 2021, so have tons of interior space. To sleep, I use an Australian double sized swag tent on a cot that elevates it off the ground. I also purchased DeepSleep's 4Runner solo self inflating air mattress with memory foam, that perfectly contours the side of the back of my 4Runner, leaving tons of space, with seats folded down, but i did a rear seat delete, so have tons more space. It is a great emergency option for when weather is bad, or Grizzlies are poking around. When not in use and deflated, it goes in an easy to store bag. I have an effective dual battery, inverter setup, plus I bought a lithium ion battery generator (a good one), that can be charged while I drive, or via solar panels that came with it. It improved my night time/meal time experience 150%! It runs everything I use at night, all night (laptop, fans, charging phone, USB lights, heated blanket etc etc),. Freeing my main power up, so I never have to do the wake up power level check, anymore. I love it! Oh and I have an auxiliary long range fuel tank too, doubling my range. If I didn't have the ss, I still have a far more superior build, for less.. With double your fuel range, lots of storage now, having my roof back as storage, so my build can sustain me for A LOT longer, and I have all the power i need etc. I know this post was long, but I just wanted to point out to potential overlanding newcomers that her build is a huge waste of $20k. Also, you can find excellent condition gear second hand, including offroad bumpers, or anything else you need. There is soo much of it that great deals come easy!
If you are going to go all in with lots of mods and add ons a 4Runner then Magnuson Supercharger is a must. Or else you a very heavy lifted slug that can barely get out of its own way.
I stopped at window and dog….🎉. I did the same thing with my first gen, (I’ve owned 4). My current pup hasn’t really warmed up to the idea, but my original golden loved it…plus the side window. 🐕👍🤪🇨🇦 Any vid with…”and my dog”.
Is the horizontal bar across the front grill that says TOYOTA stock? I think I've seen it on some brand new models, I love that. Or is that an upgrade?
On my F150 it was kind of a cancer slowly growing. Started out with a level and bigger tires on factory wheels to 2 years and $10k later tires wheels kings bumpers interior upgrades chase rack and spare carrier KC lights……. The key is pay cash and don’t add up what you’ve spent. Lol
great entertainment video, I have a 03 v8 4runner completely stock now with 29K miles on it and about 8K miles off road. My tires are the original Dunlop Grandtrack. still on. Newer got stuck or in trouble off road Good sells women hats to you. To people that wAtch you they need nothing you advertise ability and experience is all, rest is money wasted.
@@Impulset0 if it's not better than SR5 it won't be Trd pro and the price will remain the same. However it's not. Why jeepers go for Rubicon? It's got better off road features. I mean if you can't afford that's your problem, but if you can why not go for a better trim. The standard 360° cam, rear locker, better suspension, better creature comfort, good trd 17 inch wheels. Building up a Trd pro will definitely better than building up an SR5.
@@laloolhouvum1634 then why do you see all these builds based off the sr5? Because it's the most cost effective. Nobody is going to pay 20k more just to rip out everything.
@@Impulset0 actually more Trd pro or off road suspension are replace and the bumpers butcher though SR5 are more cheaper. Trd pro plus mods means a lot of money. Only things you might need to replace over years are the tires/wheels over time depending on what you do, and MAYBE the suspension/cross bars etc if you are going wild out there.
Looks awesome for a overland vehicle. As a Hardcore off-road to hear that price tag. I’ve done dual T case, 1 tons swap, coil overs, 1.25 Heims link, locker gearing, power assist or hydraulic steering. Still sexy AF though
@@KtP370 dual tcase will multiply gearing ( customizable for rock crawling for tall boulders rocky trails with high speed and low torque) 1 ton axles for large truck will have larger axles for higher horse power or strength for binding a wheel.
