Very informative video! I had a balljoint failure just recently on my '93 however I was just in stop and go traffic on a street. My wheel is absolutely destroyed from the lower ball joint digging into the wheel and scratching it. Would you recommend extended lower ball joints for daily/ street use? running 15x8 +20 205/50/r15 on bc racing coilovers
We usually only recommend running our extended lower ball joints if there is an alignment spec you physically cannot meet without them. If stock ball joints work for your desired alignment, run with those.
I have an nb2 and was going to refresh the frontend with upper and lower ball joints. I was also going to be purchasing the vmaxx extreme package.... 1. Will I have an issue with rubbing the arms with the vmaxx? 2. If I'm at the recommended ride height with the coils, is the ball joint necessary? Mostly a street car. 3. Wider stance, will this also give more angle?
As soon as they go into stock, they sell out again within a few hours. If you’re not getting our “back in stock” emails, they’re easy to miss. We recommend you sign up and be ready to move.
These will add negative camber regardless of your ride height, and whether that ride height comes from coilovers or a specific spring selection. Determine your ride height, check your maximum negative camber and then decide if you need more.
I have this on my ‘94 to get more camber without lowering the car. I now have -2.5° of camber. However, at stock height, my alignment tech was only able to get to 2.6° of caster and the steering is super light. Too light. Just know that if you plan to get these and aren’t lowered.
How about some explanation of the alignment settings and how one affects the other. I know that you'll have to sacrifice some caster to get more camber.
That's true if you use a stock ball joint, but this adds camber without affecting caster significantly. We did a video on all the alignment settings a while back.
Two questions about removing camber: Context: I have a 2002 NB that came with with adjustable fortune auto coilovers. It was extremely low to the floor and the camber was excessive for a street car(i dont know how they can enjoy that). I was able to raise it up about an inch max(although I wanted to bring it up another 1-2 more inches but that was the max for these coilovers) and was able to bring the camber down to about -4.5 degrees all around but im unable to bring it in further. I want to raise the car another inch or two and remove another 2-ish degrees of camber. Question one: would installing adjustable lower control arms to reduce the camber further also raise the ride height another inch? Im imagining that it would rise somewhat because the car is balancing itself better on 8 sidewalls vs bias leaning on the inner 4, but not sure if 1 entire inch would be gained from it. Second question: would raising the height 1 inch through the suspension reduce my camber from -4.5 to -2 degrees im looking for too? Or would I still need lower control arms?
Given your numbers, your car is either far too low or someone has done something to add negative camber. Best option in the latter case is to find what was done and undo it. Raising the ride height will definitely decrease the amount of negative camber if you don't do anything else. Very rough rule of thumb is that an inch of ride height change will be approximately a degree of camber change on a Miata.
@@FlyinMiataVideo perfect. This is exactly the answer I was looking for. Thank you! The car was definitely too low and was scraping the floor on very small bumps but I got a good deal on it so I intend to undo it. It doesn't look like they did anything else but lower it through coilovers so im going to try to raise it more through suspension.

Love these! Keep em up. Just bought a 90' na. Will be putting in an order over the winter.
When will you guys be restocking the nb turbo kit? I'm waiting for them to come back so I can order. It's killing me inside.

Same here. Been trying to get one all year 😭 the economy sucks right now.
Would it be advisable to have adjustable height coilovers, or should you still be able to get all the benefits with just shocks and springs?

So I have bilstein struts with eibach springs. Car is slightly lower. Am I okay to put these on?
Yes.

Shimm out your subframe to have more caster that will stiffen up your steering agean.
Thanks Keith!
Does ball joint solve negative camber?
These help add more negative camber for a more aggressive alignment.

@@FlyinMiataVideo ok, cool. I'll check it out. But this essentially is the best option then.
@@38tech We think so, yes.
Well done 👍
