Hello Matt, I agree. I would not be able to get by with the enduro bag, which I had been using for a while, without my top box. And of course, the Adventure bag is a tad HUGE for our bike. 😁 - Frank
I’m glad you pointed out the hole in their lineup. Something in the 6L range would be too perfect. I can see me using one of each of these on my two bikes.
Hello Andrew, I know where you can find one a bit south of you... the guy just put it on a shelf and abandoned it! They really are dependable bags; I do prefer the small one as my bikes have other storage now. - Frank
FRANK !!!! - Another awesome review & video !!! - I've never ever had a tank bag - but might just consider that small one. Not sure yet. When I go off road I like to wheelie & jump when the opportunity presents itself. Gonna ponder on that... That said, same reasons I don't have a wind screen either. Loved it. This again will really help people... Cheers !!!
Thanks for this analysis and review. I do like Nelson Rigg products but you are absolutely right in pointing out the missing bag in the middle. I run an eight liter Amazon knock off but it is not water proof. I really like the look of the Tusk eight liter Olympus bag that is about $95 and would likely go this way if I decide to upgrade.
Hello Rob, I used a Tusk Bag for a year. Great bag. Zipper was fantastic (I have had issues with the dust and dirt clogging them form where I ride), certainly worth the money. But as I mentioned, I never remembered to bring the cover for the Tusk. - Frank
@@verbalwidget7267 Very true. I am generally a fair weather rider anyway and up until now have kept it mostly to day rides where there are very few surprises.
Thanks for sharing with us, Frank. I'm going to check out the big one. I had a tusk tank bag and a Mosko Moto bag. Neither of which I'm in love with. I've never even really looked into the Nelson Riggs bags. Seems like they are bringing more and more to the market for ADV all the time.
Hello AGC, I had the Tusk tab bag. It was fine until it rained. And I could not tell you where the dry cover for it is... I bought my first NR bag, for my Honda, back in 2018/2019. I did not know they even made waterproof tank bags until a friend bought the Adventure bag. Have been pleased since! - Frank
Hello Bunhead, hey at least you found yours to put it on! Funny fact... When cleaning out boxes, I found the cover for my Dualsport tank bag. Brand new on plastic. That bag is five years old! I guess I was never bothered enough in tbeh rain while ridinv my Honda to cover it. Thank you for stopping by and commenting! - Frank
Great info Frank! Nelson Rigg makes some great products. Great point about the "hole" in their lineup of tank bags. I just purchased a Mosko Moto Gnome Tank Bag that is 5L and has a water reservoir in it. Once I receive it and give it a go, I will let you know how well it does. Great video!
Great review Frank.... Yeah, the big one is over kill....I always have soft panniers on the back...so the smaller one is Golden...Safe trip home....Steven....
Hello Steven, I am really looking forward to the new one being released next month. It should be a great compromise, just what I was hoping for. Thanks for stopping by! - Frank
A very informative video Frank. Having a small one creates problems, but the big one it is even worse because it is always on your way there. Hopefully there will be a solution in the future. You got my like. Just keep it up.
Good information Frank, I have used Nelson Rigg trails end tank bag, and their soft saddle bags since starting the dual sport thing 3 years ago on DR's, XR's & KLR's. Their quality & fitment have always been excellent. I like to stand a lot off roading and I'm always straddling "the bag", my next tank bag will definitely be a smaller size. Thank You.
I have the Wolfman Enduro WP. It's 4 liters as well, and just barely big enough. I have mine sitting a smidge further forward, which allows the rear straps to be placed under the body panels on either side. So only about 4" of strap and adjuster showing. Everything else is behind plastic panels. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the great review. Was getting ready to start looking for a bag for my new, yet to touch dirt, 390. I just ordered one. I love my SW-Motech on my BMW street bike, but, oh man, the price.

Hello Jason, I filmed this a while ago, before Kyle mentioned there new 8L bag. I should have played the lottery that day! Thank you for stopping by! - Frank
I use the First Gear Silverstone and love it, but it's just always in my way. I usually strap it down behind me on the Himalayan. I like the look of the Nelson Rigg stuff. I need a fender bag to fit my Silky saw big boy next.
Great review! It actually looks like they recently released the goldilocks size you mentioned, it carries around 8L. seeing these, i'm definitely considering trying the new one out!
I just can't bring myself to get a tank bag. I like the thought but I stand up a lot and try to ride aggressively when on a closed course 😁 I put molle pouches on my crash bars which have been working great. Good review Frank. Is it March yet?
Hello Greg, you are not alone. tank bags are not everyone's choice for sure. You do have a LOT of storage on your bike! I need it not only be March, I need it to be March 13th to ride out of town! Wait... I think the 13th, the ride organizer may have changed the date again! - Frank
