On the rain cover, you fold in the first draw string section into the rain cover when the micro is not expanded, and when you extend the bag, you pull down the first draw string section and use that one to secure the rain cover.
The cool thing, is once the ring is there, he (or anyone) can use whatever bag will physically fit. I have the older style ring on my 2015 BMW S1000RR and run a large pack with clear map pocket for multi-day rides, and a micro for short ones. I have a 2021 890 ADV R and run the larger Daypack with optional pouch on top. I DID flip the mounting base under the bag 180degrees so the bag opening is TOWARDS me and routed the release lanyard thru the hole in the opposite end of the bag so it's towards me as well. Works out WAY better to have the opening towards you.
@@infosponge yes but it is still the wrong way. You have to reverse the base of the tankbag. There is a hole to enter the red tab inside in the other direction too.
@@infosponge of course, I call it "wrong" way because when you open the tankbag, the top part goes against your body making the things a little bit harder to take things from inside
I got the Daypack and the optional pouch on top, and also I bought the tablet/mapholder to go on top of the pouch if I want. You can flip the mounting base under the bag 180degrees so the bag opening is TOWARDS you and route the lanyard towards you as well.
Hey mate, great install vid. I have a Norden 901 ( brother bike to yours ) would you recommend it? I'm after magnetic & small non bulky bag just to put phone, wallet charging cables etc in. What do you think?
So I couldn’t find the tank ring on Amazon with the one you have listed.I could only find the bag. My husband has the 2023 KTM 890 Adventure. Could help me with what tank ring he needs. And does the mounting plate come with the bag or do you need to buy that separate? Thank you.
Here is the response from support: “At this time, we do not know if that tank ring will work. That bike is/will be going through R&D in Germany this month and if a tank ring we already have in production fits, it should be released on our website fairly soon. If not, we will have to wait for manufacturing to occur and that can take several weeks. I would recommend to keep checking our website weekly or reach back out to us later this month to see if we have any new updates.”
'Sup W! F here. I put the (older pre-magnet style) SW-Motech ring on my 2015 BMW S1000RR first, and actually have 2 bags, a large one with the clear map pocket on it for extended trips, and the micro for when I'm sporting around (maybe wearing my leathers) and just need room for my wallet, Walkman, keys, and a juicebox etc. When I got the 2021 ADV R, because KTM is retarded and just HAD to do things different, the ring (with magnets) had to go on backwards as noted. What I did differently from you, is that though the ring mounting is fixed (backwards), the mounting bracket under the bag itself (I got the larger Daypack and the optional extra little pouch on top) can be rotated 180 deg so the bag can be mounted so the flap opening is TOWARDS you. Which IMO makes it that much more convenient to easily getting into the bag. The release for the ring latch can actually be routed thru the small opening on the OTHER end of the pack (at least there was one on my Daypack). So, the handle ends up being in front (like on my 'RR) but the release is towards you and the opening is towards you (like on my 'RR). You might be able to undo the mounting bracket and flip it 180deg if this sounds like you'd want to do this.
@@infosponge Indeed. Though the red cord's direction is defined by the mounting of the ring (so you can get it to match the handle location or weirdly have it on the very other end. This is defined how you mount the horse-shoe element. Thanks for the review, it made me buy one and love it. Nice premium SW premium build and quality.

i have the same one on my 890 duke. probably shoulda went with the next size up…next time. excellent video
Thanks, I’m liking it so far!

Thanks. You provided the info I wanted.
Glad it was helpful!
Youve put it on the wrong way round Red tab and handle should be at the front
The mounting ring on the KTM has to be reversed due to how the gas cap opens so the red tab is in the back. The bag itself can go either direction.
@@infosponge I didn't know that thanks for the info

Do they make an attachment for the Royal Enfield Meteor 350? That Micro tank bag would be perfect on the Meteor.
Not sure, you can look it up here: sw-motech.us/c/luggage/tank-rings
Thanks for putting this video together. Im on the fence between the micro and the day version.
Both are good but I like the fit of the micro on the 890.

Then this one would be a great option!
Does the SW Motech cable lock, with locking pin at the right place on the bottom of the bag, still work?
I haven’t tried it, but I assume it would work. I will talk to the reps in a couple weeks at the Overland expo and see what they have to say.
cool review thanks
No problem

@@infosponge Thank you for checking.
Does the bag come with the lock ring? Or is the lock ring bike specific and an extra cost?
They are sold separately since the locking rings are fit to specific bikes.
Info, can you tell me which bottom mounting ring you purchased? Thank you
SW MOTECH doesn’t list for a 890 adventure?
Part number is in the description. Don’t think it fits the 2023 though.
Is it enought place to put 0,5litter bottle of cola for example?
Yes, the bag volume expands from 3-5L and is slightly longer than an 0.5L bottle.
Do you know if the PRO Daypack tank bag fits the 890 R 2023?
Probably, but it may interfere with the bars a bit.

@@infosponge Post up if you switch to see how you like it!
Name model of the screen? Puig? Thanks
Just the stock S screen
would you be able to store your visor in there?
No, the micro is too small.
Do buy the bag and the mounting seperately?
Yes, they make mounts for a bunch of bikes.

Still too big. Shame they don't make an actual micro version.
If it was any smaller I don't think it wouldn't be very useful.
Front back
Yep
Looks backwards
It is, it can be mounted both ways. The mounting ring on the KTM is backwards so this way works best for me.
@@infosponge what does it take to mount it the other way around, just unscrew 4 screws from the base and flip it?
