Thanks, younger old man. I have the small. Good quality and waterproof in a 14 hour down pour. Too small for me, and a difficult zipper to use because it is small. I have wanted them to make a medium, and might buy one. But it looks a little big still. I would have preferred a 7L, which sits right between the small and large.
Hello, I like the size but, I did understand that's a personal choice. Afyer using the large one for two years, to me, and 8L seems small but large enough. - Frank
@One Old Man Riding I bought the medium size. Here is an update to my comment above. In the video, to me, the medium seemed much closer in size to the large. In reality, I agree with you. This bag is a great fit for the 390. I would not want one any longer front to back. I think this bag gives you the most storage possible without interferring with the rider. Thanks for bringing this review just in the nick of time. I'm leaving to ride the NMBDR in a week, and was not at all happy with the small bag.
Before you added the outtakes at the end I was thinking your wife should have hit you with the bag😂 just for the blooper reels! Nice review, I like the looks of that size bag.
Nice tank bag Frank, you found your Unicorn bag. Nelson Rigg has great stuff without breaking the bank. That size looks good on the bike too, I'm sure that offset map pocket will make the bike pull to the right and throw you off on water crossings. Thank you for the Video.
Hello Dave, I feel its the right size for day-to-day use. It will be on for a long time! I will be sure to point out the imbalance created by the map pocket whenever I drop the bike!!!! - Frank
@@OneOldManRiding ha-ha … I couldn’t resist. The size looks about the same as the Nelso Rigg tank bag I’ve been using, but mines not the water proof one like yours. Mine needs the shower cap if it rains.
FRANK !!! - That was a good review and funny too !!! - I like the mid-sized bag most of the 3. Symmetry is a major problem for a Surveyor as well - If it ain't in the center - somebody busted a dimension !!! Another great review video Frank !!! - This will help a lot of people !!!! Cheers !!! - Nice catch BTW 🙂
Nice review! Looks like a good size for the DR with the Acerbis tank. I like the NelsonRigg bags I have and find their products quality items. This will be on the list of things I need!
If I were buying a new bag I’d go with this new mid size bag. Nelson Rigg Hurricane bags don’t leak. I have found I’d rather not use a tank bag anymore. I’ve become a top box fan (Shad 45L) on my VStrom. I know they are ugly but they are very convenient.
Hello Tim, I understand where you are coming from. I love being able to keep mints, snacks, etc in front of me for easy access. For the V-Strom I used the smallest Nelson Rigg enduro bag for that, and like you, left the top box on for other items. - Frank
These were made for the off-road use primarily I think. Over years they resisted really well. The new 8L one also looks wonderful on this bike. I am glad that you also showed your position sitting and standing with the bag mounted. A useful video bro. Enjoyed it. Take care Frank.
Good review Frank....I wanted to ask your opinion about the MABDR, I know you rode it in the summer....and I'm planning on doing it the end of June...When it's really hot in the summer...I usually ride with a mesh jacket/Armor with just a jersey over the top. I'm thinking wearing my regular jacket might be to hot? I'm not planning on riding at night...and I don't wanta have to stuff a regular adventure riding jacking into my top bag.....Steven... By the way....Sorry Whitt road beet everybody up!!
Hello Steven, I rode 4-9 of the MABDR in June. It was over 90. I was wearing an ADV jacket and it was brutal. Mesh and a jersey is the way I would go! That's what I wore when rode again in September, and even then it was in thw 80s and the my Icon mesh armor was great to have on! I will eventually test my luck at Witt again. Going back over Greg's footage and mine, I lakc the leg length to catch myself there. It hit a tiny bump, stopped the bike and my right leg found nothing below it 🤣 I need to try more momentum next time to get past hickups like that. It's treacherous looking, I was terrified of hitting that shape endged rock under the water at speed! - Frank
Hello James, well looking back at this now I feel DOUBLY bad about the give-away being US only! Do you live in Quebec by chance? I can toss a set over the border! - Frank
Hello, I agree on the charging pass through. It would be nice to see that added to the bags. I would say that price is a by far the largest advantage. They are similar durable waterproof bags. I own two GL products, but I do not see a compelling reason, for me, to pay the premium for a waterproof tank bag when Nelson Rigg prices them so competitively and the quality is excellent. - Frank
Just bought mine after watching your last video. its very similar to the giant loop i have on my bigger bike. definitely the right size for this bike!
Hello Dash, I agree, it fits well. I am enjoying the extra space! - Frank

Nice! I scored a Nelson Rigg tank bag at the TailChaser 250. Looks like a nice bit of kit!
Hey there Duke! Excellent! How is that beautiful classic BMW treating you? - Frank
@@OneOldManRiding it’s FANTASTIC! I still have a few repairs to make, but I can’t seem to stay off of it long enough.

Hello Obi-Wan, the small bag may be best for the Mighty DR650 stock tank, the mid sized woukd be ideal of the aftermarket big tanks for sure. - Frank
They made that particular bag specifically for Frank. Everybody else with get a symmetrical bag.
