Depeche Mode was formed in 1981. They are the biggest electronic rock band for maybe the last 40 yares Yes, their music in the 80s was very underrated. They used samplers and synths in a different way than all the other bands in the 80s did. In the beginning, they made synthpop. Later the music became much more industrial and dark Personal Jesus and Enjoy the Silence are their 2 biggest hits. Other great songs: Everything Counts, a political song about corporate greed. Master and Servant, blasphemous rumours, Stripped. you must have heard Just can't get enough. their first big single in 1981. They are still around. They released their 15th album called Memento Mori back in March this year.
That was a very interesting reaction you will find most of the lyrics after the first album give you more to think about than most. Also i think nine inch nails said that they were influenced by dm : )
Of course Reznor was a fan of DM!!! Recommend New Dress by DM ...Reznor coopted a lot of sounds ...he was heavily influenced by Alan Wilder DM's sound designer
So since you guys never figured out what the song was for sure you were close. Dave Graham and Martin Gore wrote in Guitar World in the 1993 edition that the song was about: infidelity and the effects on Sado Masochism relationships. The majority of violators songs are about BDSM, Which were the uninitiated is Bondage, Domination and Sado Masochism. If you're in this scene you would understand the majority of all Depeche modes lyrics as both Martin and David and the former band member Andy Fletcher were heavily into BDSM at one point in their lives.
As Martin wrote this, as with most of their songs he writes for Depeche Mode, it has a religious connotation, about confessions and having faith and betraying people trust. People forget that songs like Personal Jesus are literally songs about confession and jesus its just that because Dave sings them they start to feel like something more seedy.
@6:13 I just finished watching a Jimmy Dore - Kurt Metzger video about free speech and censorship / canceling. It sort of lines up with this part of the lyrics.
Nice, I think there are some club mixes for this sweet jam. Headbanging techno-ish.🎉Policy Of Truth (Single Version) Policy Of Truth (Capitol Mix) Policy Of Truth (Beat Box Mix) Policy Of Truth (Pavlov's Dub) I have this CD, its pretty good. It has a sample of Nixon’s Checkers Speech. Good times, thanks for the video.

They are legendary, yet, I would agree-they are still underrated. Music as it is today owes them a huge debt.

You guys have great commentary. Some of the best when it comes to reaction videos.

I think this song is about betrayal, cheating and being young and not being loyal! The girls in the video kiss the guys and then runaway !

Great reaction to a great song by a great group. You might also wanna check out bands like Kraftwerk and the Pet Shop Boys, if you haven’t already.

Reaction to The Smiths - I Know I'ts Over
I wonder if this was the time when David Gahan did drugs, when he almost died.
