And now you opened the floodgates my guy. Unforgiven II. Gotta react to the follow up. With respect to your comment on how the lead singer, James Hetfield, bends words? Sounds like a very famous MC we all know and love, Eminem. 😃 He plays with bending words too.. Love you, keep it going coach! Don't give up. You're unique, interesting, wise and 💯 real.
There is nothing better than sitting in the dark with headphones on and closing your eyes and letting the music take you...so don't apologize for closing your eyes and getting into it. You can always go back and watch it. METALLICA RULZ!!!!!!!!!!
Its good you listen to the solos in total... there's usually a feeling associated with the solo and that feeling is built and solidified in pieces... not to mention, when we let the solo play thru, we pay our respect to the hours and hours of work. that 19 seconds of time is the showcase of a lifetimes work
We don’t care about music videos. If I want to watch a video I’d watch a movie or a series (or UA-cam). If I want music, then the audio is the focus and the video (if it exists) is supplementary and unnecessary.
I LOVE your genuine appreciation of music….regardless of what the world labels it (rock, rap..etc..)…you FEEL what it sounds like and can appreciate that feeling/sound…which not all people do…. Love it!! 💯🧡☺️
If no one has mentioned it, there is a great video of Kirk recording the solo in one take because the producer said, "Okay, are we gonna hear 'Solo of the Year'?" He just says yeah and rips that beast out, just amazing.
Bob Rock was the producer behind the scene. He has his name on a lot of top selling albums, and he helped shape the sound of the album that this song comes from.
Thank you for reacting to Metallica! And thank you for explaining your reactions too. I never even thought of how even to how a rock song is sung, that even the way the singer presents a word is just so new to understand the “Rock World’s Feelings” that opened my eyes to your whole reaction too. I love it! 💕
First time I can remember hearing this song and seeing this video was at around 7 years old. It was on a recorded VHS tape with a bunch of other music videos that my dad made. The video freaked me out as a kid. Then later when I grew up and I actually listened to the song I realized how beautiful and powerful it was and have loved it ever since.
It goes two ways, so I really really hope the metalheads try react more to different genres, I've seen a lot actually, since I'm hardcore reaction fan, but it needs to be done more, but I truelly enjoy seeing that music get us all connected. Love to all .Hugs from Sweden.
My brother, we first heard this on the album (or tape), and only saw the video later on. Hearing it first before seeing it is the best way to appreciate the MUSIC, which is what it's all about.
Also depends where you grew up. Here in Cali, I have friends of all races that listened to Metallica, GNR, Zeppelin, Skynrd, etc through the 80's up till now. Very diverse musical interests.
the essence of Metallica is their first album "kill em all" their best album unquestionably. It's the album I listened to almost 40 years ago and it's the one I've listened to the most in my life. Today I discovered a band "Lovebites" heavy, power, thrash, metal. An all-female band from the Japanese scene. And I must say that some of their titles have the color, Metallica. A band that deserves special attention for those who are open-minded. Search on you tube and listen to "break the wall", "The hammer of wrath", "Set the world on fire" (a killer), "thunder vengeance" (live) the opening of the concert.
I appreciate you, you're opening comment was spot on! I'm happy my Stepdad always played Metallica in his car when I was younger 💯 "Nothing else Matters" is another beauty💥.. there's many, but I'll check your playlist!💜
"now coz of yall... it's only coz of yall i didnt stop it. i just want yall to know that! i wanted to stop it man, but that was a god damn dope ass solo" YEEES u never stop a rock solo so ty for that!
What you said about 'crossing over' into exploring not only new sound, but a new way of vocalizing words and even the words that people choose to say is true for me too but reversed. Been a metalhead for as long as I've been listening to music and have been making efforts over the last year to dive into hip hop, and what you said there perfectly explains my feelings 👍
Great reaction. I’ve been finding out that I’ve lived rather naively. To me, music has always been music and I never attached it to a race. To me, you like what you like or even sometimes you just like what you’re familiar with. Music plays such a huge role in my life. Sometimes it is what I cling to, in order to not crumble. I feel music. I experience music and I’ve not ever thought that some music isn’t mine to listen to. That being said, i DO gravitate towards rock and metal and Classical. Not much in the way of r&b or hip hop. I have been opening my eyes to rap lately and am enjoying my journey. Interesting perspective Van. Keep em coming!
You should watch the making of documentary for this guitar solo. Bob Rock, their producer, kept making Kirk do different solos cuz none of them sounded right and eventually, in a moment of pure "fuck all of you" energy Kirk banged out one the greatest solos ever in a single take
60% of what makes a great rock song is the solo. I cant stress this enough, never, and i mean NEVER pause during a solo. Legend has it, if you do, whenever you hear a song, its Britney Spears. Always. So you dodge a bullet there, well done.
I love and appreciate how gifted guitarists are able to make their guitars actually speak💝. If you watch a singing teacher/vocal coach react to singers, they explain why singers pronounce words/vowels differently, it's something to do with breathing, throat muscles etc.👍😊
If you ever listen to the openings of the old spaghetti westerns, and the older western Clint Eastwood movies, the intro to this song is derived from those music pieces. James is a big fan of the old spaghetti westerns.
Best part about it. And he struggled to get the perfect take too, so it has that feel of sweat, struggle and effort. Along with a feeling of creative triumph. So badass man
Hey man, love to see your reactions, hope you can react one of these days to "Low man's Lyric" by Metallica. An amazing country vibe. I believe you'll like it. Stay safe. Cumps from Portugal !
I like the breakdown of what a lot of black people have to do to fully appreciate rock and other new music. It's pretty similar in the other direction too.
My first cd ever was ...And Justice for All and i was 11 years old thats was in 1990, i did not speak english or understand it mutch but i loved the music, then like 4 or 5 years later i was given a cassette from the Metallica album "black album" and it blew my mind, i think i ran that tape alone for a month befor popping in something else in my walkman.
The harmonies are just so perfect in this song, makes your eyes water
I love how they slow walk you into brilliance.... I never heard a more genius comment, respect !
Was gna say the same! Great way to put it!😄
Well said!
Right. Well said Van
Proves he truly loves music. I'm LOVING this channel.
"They slow walk you into brilliance" should be Metallica's Indian name...
Agreed
Metallica is the king of badass intros.
"yeah" - James Hetfield
im stealing that xD
This song is to be felt...I love how you close your eyes and actually feel the lyrics 🥰☮️✌️🕊️
There is nothing better than sitting in the dark with headphones on and closing your eyes and letting the music take you...so don't apologize for closing your eyes and getting into it. You can always go back and watch it. METALLICA RULZ!!!!!!!!!!
Plus, the video could never match the sonic brilliance !
You might also like Nothing Else Matters, since you like this song. From the same album.
Sad But True is great as well.
@@Rick-Rarick indeed.
Might? 🤨
He already reacted to that song a while ago.
@@bingo5387 oh, ok. My apologies.

Now you gotta do Unforgiven part 2 and 3!! Part 3 is is gold, brotha!!
Hell yes
@Thrash INC I like 2 better than 3, but they are all great!
2 has the best video to me.
You're high AF, Unforgiven III is garbage! Ugh! DM was loudness wars garbage..puke! smh!
I literally had to pull over when I first heard 3
Your first reaction is why you dont stop during solos! Got to feel the whole thing in your soul!
Until it Sleeps is a good later Metallica song. Their first four albums are pretty much packed with impressive songs.
Metallica is brilliance . They’ll go down as the best bad to ever live , and they’re not done
I second this
That solo came straight from the heart and the soul....i mean, wow!!!
Video means nothing. The song is a masterpiece. You nailed it.
@ Darren Murphy yup... “Nothing Else Matters” you should suggest that one [Unless he’s already done it].
Video means nothing??
We don’t care about music videos. If I want to watch a video I’d watch a movie or a series (or UA-cam). If I want music, then the audio is the focus and the video (if it exists) is supplementary and unnecessary.
I friggin LOVE you singing along to this and imitating his deep voice!
This was my favorite album from them and I think their best. This was mind blowing in the early 90’s. No one could touch them.
Metallica & Led Zeppelin....the best!
I LOVE your genuine appreciation of music….regardless of what the world labels it (rock, rap..etc..)…you FEEL what it sounds like and can appreciate that feeling/sound…which not all people do….
Love it!! 💯🧡☺️
This is part of a trilogy.
The Unforgiven: Can't forgive them.
The Unforgiven II: Can't forgive you.
The Unforgiven III: Can't forgive myself.
If no one has mentioned it, there is a great video of Kirk recording the solo in one take because the producer said, "Okay, are we gonna hear 'Solo of the Year'?" He just says yeah and rips that beast out, just amazing.
Yeahh i saw that one and when the solo is going to end bob rock help kirk with his hand on his guitar turning down to volume 😄
What I've felt
What I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown ... those words have the best meaning ... at least for me
Same. Volumes can be written about that line alone.
I really appreciate you and your reactions brotha. Stay blessed 🙏🙏🤘🤘🙏🙏
One of my favorite guitar solos of all time. Fits the song absolutely perfect
It's easily one of the best solos in all of rock
Bob Rock was the producer behind the scene. He has his name on a lot of top selling albums, and he helped shape the sound of the album that this song comes from.
"Slow walk you into brilliance" is lit! React to the whole trilogy: "Unforgiven II" and "Unforgiven III". Peace.
The contrast between the verses and the chorus makes this song even greater.
This is a trilogy of Unforgiven songs. You should listen to them in full so you can grasp the individual meanings as well as all three together.
That guitar lick is iconic
This song gives me chills, love to see you enjoy it 💖
Thanks Van! Once again great reaction to awesome timeless classic
You must complete the unforgiven trilogy
facts, Van! totally new culture, fun to learn along with you.🖤✨

Anyone that listens to this song with their eyes open is a lunatic, don’t trust that person.
Really? How about listening this song and make a dishes, or clean up all house...
😂😂😂
so true!
Agreed. Except whilst driving. 😜
@@valerycro3853 🤔🤨 I cant trust you now. 🤣 jk as I watched this reaction doing dishes lmao
PLEASE do The Unforgiven II and The Unforgiven III! You wont be disappointed!
Still the BEST ROCK SONG EVER WRITTEN. This represents us all.

Metallica + Orchestra is Truly Something Great
I appreciate you taking the time to go into it that far.. The singing styles and how words are spoken and sung...
It goes two ways, so I really really hope the metalheads try react more to different genres, I've seen a lot actually, since I'm hardcore reaction fan, but it needs to be done more, but I truelly enjoy seeing that music get us all connected. Love to all .Hugs from Sweden.
Fade to black!
Back when James Hetfield looked like the badass uncle who wasn't invited to Christmas dinners anymore.
My brother, we first heard this on the album (or tape), and only saw the video later on. Hearing it first before seeing it is the best way to appreciate the MUSIC, which is what it's all about.

I can’t believe Metallica didn’t claim this, I love them but they are notorious.
"Enter Sandman" by Metalica will blow your mind. That was awesome.
Multiple significant moments in my life happened with this playing
The Unforgiven II and The Unforgiven III
That song makes my eye “sweat” too...
Yes , this takes me back to the early days listening metallica!

my favourite Metallica song and solo

Best reaction to this song ever!!!
Music is a universal language. Common ground my friend.
Because this is real metal
Incredible music and a classic!
Metallica was my first love in music

I couldn’t agree more. Different cultures. Excellent reaction video!!!
This song is all about the lyrics!! This is also the first song of a trilogy! You should check out 2 and 3 as well.
I subscribed due to your willingness to understand another point of view. Absolutely wonderful and refreshing mindset. Thank you.
I didn't understand lyrics, just with the melodies in my teenage time was so important things, metallica songs....
Awesome reaction Bro. You made the world a little bit better of a place. Don't stop.
Unforgien 2 and then Unforgiven 3 (my personal fav of the 3)
