There is no confusion here, these quotes span a 20 year period and even include a recanting of Leelan Chee and Sue R of Lucas Licesncing who admitted they were wrong in thinking that the EU was legitimate canon and that it was in fact, not canon at all. ------------------------------------- Leland Chee, the Keeper of the Holocron (Star Wars internal encyclopedia manager), *who was previously adamant that there was no “parallel Star Wars universes” *(in direct contradiction to Lucas’ statements), *later conceded that George Lucas’ canon was separate from what he was overseeing with the licensing world.* *“[Lucas’] canon - and when I say ‘his canon’, I’m talking about what he was doing in the films and what he was doing in The Clone Wars - was hugely important. But what we were doing in the books really wasn’t on his radar.”* -Leland Chee, 2018 --------------------------------- This is supported by Sue Rostoni, of Lucas Licensing as well as follows - *"George knows more about Star Wars than we do. He doesn't see the extended universe as ”his” Star Wars, but as ”ours.” I think this has been mentioned previously, maybe in other places, but it's not new info, as far as I remember."* - Sue Rostoni, Lucas Licensing (LLP Managing Editor), Jun 2004 ------------------------ Some examples - Lucas said of the Expanded Universe: 2005 **"I don't read that stuff. I haven't read any of the novels. I don't know anything about that world. That's a different world than my world....When I said [other people] could make their own Star Wars stories, we decided that, like Star Trek, we would have two universes: My universe and then this other one.** **“There are two worlds here,” explained Lucas. “There’s my world, which is the movies, and there’s this other world that has been created, which I say is the parallel universe - the licensing world of the books, games and comic books. They don’t intrude on my world, which is a select period of time, [but] they do intrude in between the movies. I don’t get too involved in the parallel universe”** --------------------------------------------------- **"And now there have been novels about the events after Episode VI, which isn't at all what I would have done with it. The Star Wars story is really the tragedy of Darth Vader. That is the story. Once Vader dies, he doesn't come back to life, the Emperor doesn't get cloned and Luke doesn't get married..."** - George Lucas, Flannelled One, May 2008, "George Lucas", 'TF Interview', Total Film Magazine --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ”The novels and comic books are other authors' interpretations of my creation. Sometimes, I tell them what they can and cant do, but I just don't have the time to read them all. **They're not my vision of what Star Wars is.”** - George Lucas 2004 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "I like to refer to the Interview with Lucas in the Special Editions. When asked about the novels and whatnot, he simply says: **”Those are another author's interpretation of what I've created, and not to be taken seriously, as far as what is really going on in the Star Wars world.”** ~ George Lucas --------------------------------------------------------- "Q: What do you think of the expanded universe of books? A: **"The books are in a different universe. I've not read any of them, and I told them when they started writing I wouldn't read any of them and I blocked out certain periods [they couldn't touch where the real story happens]."** - George Lucas 2003

Its literally insane how much these simple dialogues with the music going on makes you FEEL the the power and threat of the EMPIRE from the the originals. it boggles my mind that Disney went with fucking jokes and wild yelling with completely ineptitude first order clowns instead of making a REAL threat like THRAWN.
WOW! This is so fucking cool. The Thrawn trilogy is one of my favorite Star Wars stories, & seeing it adapted to the screen like this is awesome. And the dialogue is straight from the novels, with some uneeded dialog cut out. VERY cool
I mean the voices are so-so sure, but the overall feeling is amazing. You really captured Thrawn here! And I can really see the effort and heart that went into it. To me that wins over CGI-quality and what not. Artistically done :)
Star Wars has so many good fan movies nowadays, it appears that it's community is in a way more resourceful than most other fanbases, this deserves respect. Only one thing to note, most imperial military members (except Thrawn and persons of his "level") are speaking and talking faster, they were just trained that way, as their profession is combat (Thrawn speaks slower than other imperials cuz combat is a sort of science and art to him, and he's got more thoughts than them going on at the same time, even during a conversation)
I just found all these. Gonna start. But they look amazing from the bits I’ve watched. Damn I’d love to have voiced some characters in this. Amazing job
I love hearing Thrawn's theme in the EU canon!!!! Thank you for making such an excellent fanfilm!! Who composes your score, when it isn't archived soundtracks?
Hey Disney! Take a look at how this is directed, edited and story-boarded. Throw this man some production dollars and a few actors. This guy could save Star Wars. Give him a budget! (Nice work, dude)
This feels like Star Wars to me. It is substantially superior to anything released by Disney +. I adore the Timothy Zahn novelizations and I feel that they would have made a worthwhile contribution to the Star Wars movies. I applaud this endeavor!
the great thing about this is the music doesn't seem out of place from my memory of the book at all. every time thrawn was featured i could almost hear the creepy organ music in the background
As a fan of Disney Star Wars, I can say that this is absolutely fantastic. The voices, the visuals, the rebels thrawn theme in the background. Sends chills down my spine
Thank you so much for bringing to life this Star Wars masterpiece. Let us know how may we support your talent to bring more chapters to life. You are a true Artist! MTFBW you.
Hearing Thrawns voice over the rebellion ships being destroyed actually gave me goosebumps. This is such an amazing project and I can not wait for more to come!
I would just like to express my true heartfelt appreciation for this seminal work. I have been dreaming about seeing this made into a film since I read it as a youngling in the 90s. I really thought Disney would make this trilogy. If they had gone into production on this immediately in 2012, they would have the most influential and prosperous franchise on their hands. It would’ve rivalled MCU or even beaten it. All they had to do was stick to the damn Timothy Zahn Script. Which is what you are doing. I am subscribing and I will be financially supporting this project. It has been my dream to make a full live action of this trilogy since I was a kid. You are amazing and deserve as many subs as SWT. All best
Oh, man! I loved it. You have yourself a new subscriber! I'm I huge fan of chapter 2. It's such a great reintroduction of Luke and Leia and how they've grown since RotJ. I honestly can't wait! Edit: I also can't wait for Mara to finally get animated beyond a few very old games. I really hope her voice actress captures all of her nuances and doesn't overplay solely a single aspect of her character. Too many book authors besides Zahn and Stackpole wrote her a bit too one dimensionally, so I'm a bit worried. Edit 2: I just watched Imperials on your channel. Please don't hire that voice actress for Mara. It sounded very... minimal effort and Mara is too well loved of a character to not have bad first impressions leading to negative comments in huge numbers. Sorry if that voice actress is a friend but perhaps they could be Winter or one of the Norghi instead... Pellaeon needs a bit more nuance too (sounds too rookie officer (and that's not an age crack) compared to a skilled commander who's observing a true master and realizing just how outclassed he is but still competent enough to spot the Masters occasional blindspots, which does happen later) but it good enough for this chapter. He did a solid read of this chapter, I'm just saying it failed to show what later chapters did also. Basically it was a the read of an Imperial officer watching his boss, but Pellaeon is basically Dr John Watson to Thrawn's Sherlock Holmes and that part felt it could have been at tab more present. I've seen lots of other fan productions where the early voice acting was just ok but it had vastly improved by a few more chapters. So I'm sure he'll figure out the character more as you put out more chapters. It might help the voice actor here to hear the audiobook, not asking that he copy what his voice sounded like, just study how Mark Thompson showed Pellaeon's skills from his choices of how he read the lines. You know, what parts he choose to emphasize and when he choose to act more cautious on. Thrawn though was very good for this early in the production. Out of curiosity. How long did this take you to make and produce? Just asking so I can get a rough estimate of how long between chapters. Yes, I know later chapters are FAR longer than this one.
Woah! Long review, but a welcome one :) I do appreciate all your feedback, thankyou :) This one took about three weeks to make, some of that time was waiting for the dialogue to be recorded. I don't think that can be a useful guide for how long it takes to produce more clips though, it really depends on how complex the scenes are.
This takes me back to when I read the Heir to the Empire series in high school. I kept trying to remember the books while watching. The animation, music, sound effects, all wonderful. Well done!
Can I volunteer myself to help as a voice actor for the next chapters? I do a pretty good imperial officer, and I have a decent microphone? Great work by the way!
I would also gladly volunteer! Not a pro, but I love doing voices and have a degree in filmmaking XD Happy to send a sample if you give me the line and the character
I like this alot! Since Heir To The Empire takes place only 5 years after the Battle Of Endor, New Republic;( which got blown away in Episode 7-dumb right?) is the right progression for the Rebel Alliance given they want to restore peace to the galaxy. The Imperial Remnant with Thrawn trying to fight against them is very compelling. This is a great animated adaption. The character modeling is prretty good, and I like the voice acting well enough. I hope this keeps going.
Fun fact: Thrawn learned about the 'Margh Sabl' closure maneuver from Anakin Skywalker during a mission they conducted together on a Separatist planet during the Clone War. (Margh Sable is the name of a flower that capture it's prey by letting it close in, and then close all around it)
Yep. Although this book is where the Marg Sable was first mentioned. When they used it in Clone Wars, they did it as a reference to Heir to the Empire :)

Also, in regards to Thrawn's VA.... it grew on me. I think his raspiness added to the fact that Thrawn is supposed to be an aged, intelligent individual whom has years of experience. I don't know why it works... it just does.
Impressive. Most impressive. The Thrawn Trilogy, in my opinion, is a masterpiece of Star Wars literature. You, my friend, deliver a fine adaptation, especially with Thrawn himself. Bravo
Thankyou! :D
May not have the best animation may not have the best voice actors, but we got one of the best stories in star wars and enough people who care to blow anything out of the water. Thawn was also giving me chills so props by the end I was so invested any shortcomings were nothing more space dust
Thankyou! :)
This is the real canon, right here.
John Scopes I see you forgot Luuke
Too bloody right
**Actually it wasn't the real canon ever, as it never was canon in the first place. The Expanded Universe was never Official Star Wars canon at any time whatesoever.** George Lucas did not acknowledge it as legitimate in his Star Wars Universe. The EU was literally a 'paralell Star Wars Universe. He considered it seperate and distinct from his works and not canonical. The only content he cosidered Canon was his direct works only. That is to say :
* The 6 Movies
* The TV Projects
* The Clone Wars series
This is confirmed by 100 of quotes from both Lucas directly and people who knew him and worked with him, and is even acknowledge by EU authors themselves.
For a full write up of these quotes and supporting commentary please visit this site, it's in 3 parts just scrool down and look for the the user named "Grim'alkun".

All these quotes are verified. There is no confusion here, these quotes span a 20 year period and even include a recanting of Leelan Chee and Sue R of Lucas Licesncing who admitted they were wrong in thinking that the EU was legitimate canon and that it was in fact, not canon at all.
-------------------------------------
Leland Chee, the Keeper of the Holocron (Star Wars internal encyclopedia manager), *who was previously adamant that there was no “parallel Star Wars universes” *(in direct contradiction to Lucas’ statements), *later conceded that George Lucas’ canon was separate from what he was overseeing with the licensing world.*
*“[Lucas’] canon - and when I say ‘his canon’, I’m talking about what he was doing in the films and what he was doing in The Clone Wars - was hugely important. But what we were doing in the books really wasn’t on his radar.”*
-Leland Chee, 2018
---------------------------------
This is supported by Sue Rostoni, of Lucas Licensing as well as follows -
*"George knows more about Star Wars than we do. He doesn't see the extended universe as ”his” Star Wars, but as ”ours.” I think this has been mentioned previously, maybe in other places, but it's not new info, as far as I remember."*
- Sue Rostoni, Lucas Licensing (LLP Managing Editor), Jun 2004
------------------------
Some examples -
Lucas said of the Expanded Universe: 2005
**"I don't read that stuff. I haven't read any of the novels. I don't know anything about that world. That's a different world than my world....When I said [other people] could make their own Star Wars stories, we decided that, like Star Trek, we would have two universes: My universe and then this other one.**
**“There are two worlds here,” explained Lucas. “There’s my world, which is the movies, and there’s this other world that has been created, which I say is the parallel universe - the licensing world of the books, games and comic books. They don’t intrude on my world, which is a select period of time, [but] they do intrude in between the movies. I don’t get too involved in the parallel universe”**
---------------------------------------------------
**"And now there have been novels about the events after Episode VI, which isn't at all what I would have done with it. The Star Wars story is really the tragedy of Darth Vader. That is the story. Once Vader dies, he doesn't come back to life, the Emperor doesn't get cloned and Luke doesn't get married..."**
- George Lucas, Flannelled One, May 2008, "George Lucas", 'TF Interview', Total Film Magazine
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
”The novels and comic books are other authors' interpretations of my creation. Sometimes, I tell them what they can and cant do, but I just don't have the time to read them all. **They're not my vision of what Star Wars is.”**
- George Lucas 2004
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I like to refer to the Interview with Lucas in the Special Editions. When asked about the novels and whatnot, he simply says:
**”Those are another author's interpretation of what I've created, and not to be taken seriously, as far as what is really going on in the Star Wars world.”**
~ George Lucas
---------------------------------------------------------
"Q: What do you think of the expanded universe of books?
A: **"The books are in a different universe. I've not read any of them, and I told them when they started writing I wouldn't read any of them and I blocked out certain periods [they couldn't touch where the real story happens]."**
- George Lucas 2003
@ I don't think anyone here was trying to deny that, he stated an opinion due to the state of what is currently happening with the timeline and the disappointment it has caused
@Jack Smith true canon is jesus christ
Tharwn: I'm basically a likable, competent, and intelligent version of every protagonist from Dan Brown's novels.
It's about time that a sequel trilogy was made!
I love the implementation of Thrawn theme from Rebels, it's the one thing I missed in recent Thrawn audiobooks
WOW, I'd NO idea this even existed. The Thrawn trilogy are the REAL Episodes 07 to 09 as far as I'm concerned. Shared
lol admiral thrawn tripping out looking at fractals
6 minutes and 47 seconds from the opening pages of HTTE, and it's already better than the entirety of that excuse for a trilogy concocted by Disney.
I love how accurate this is to the source material.
This is AMAZING. Thrawn is perfect! Can't wait to see more!
Thankyou! I want to do more, just need to overcome some technical issues, but I'm working on that :)
This. Being my favorite book series with my favorite characters is what star wars really should be like again.
Grand admiral Thrawn is my favorite villain in Star Wars ever.
Mine too :)
Thrawn battle strategy is like playing 3D chess abainst a checkers player. He has you beaten by his 2nd or 3rd move.
This is fantastic. Still my favorite book(s) of all time.
Keep Fighting FORWARD!!!
This is worth every red cent of passion you put into it!!!
Thankyou, definitely a passion project that keeps coming back in my mind :)
WOW! This is so fucking cool. The Thrawn trilogy is one of my favorite Star Wars stories, & seeing it adapted to the screen like this is awesome. And the dialogue is straight from the novels, with some uneeded dialog cut out. VERY cool
This is great!! Love it!! Great voice actors.
Thankyou! :)
OMG more please, i don't care about the quality of the voices. This is heads and tails better than anything disney made.
This is epic 5 stars. Great work.
Excellent Job! The Heir to the Empire trilogy are the real Episode 7, 8 & 9. Keep up the great work, can't wait to see the rest of these!
Damn I would have payed thousands to watch this at the cinema!!! Not the shitty sequels!!! I TOTALLY LOVE IT!!! GOOD JOB!!!
THANK YOU DarthAngelus!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS WHY I LOVE THRAWN! Best villain in Star Wars.
You're welcome! :)
I mean the voices are so-so sure, but the overall feeling is amazing. You really captured Thrawn here! And I can really see the effort and heart that went into it. To me that wins over CGI-quality and what not. Artistically done :)
Thankyou!
Wonderfully done!!!! Thank you! I too hope there is more on the way!!
Thankyou! I'm glad you liked it! I'm getting the feeling I'll be reading the rest of the book again soon ;)
I just found all these. Gonna start. But they look amazing from the bits I’ve watched. Damn I’d love to have voiced some characters in this. Amazing job
This is canon, unlike any of the disney films.
tFighterPilot For real
#facts
what films? what is a disney?
You speak words I do not understand.
Except for Solo and Rogue One
I really think that this was well done. Voice actors didn't bother me and dude did a pretty good Lando voice.
Imagine this with the Rebels voice actors!
Beautifully adapted, from the animation to the music!
Thankyou!
I love hearing Thrawn's theme in the EU canon!!!! Thank you for making such an excellent fanfilm!! Who composes your score, when it isn't archived soundtracks?
It's all soundtracks. Thrawn's theme in this was from Rebels :)
Hey Disney! Take a look at how this is directed, edited and story-boarded. Throw this man some production dollars and a few actors. This guy could save Star Wars. Give him a budget! (Nice work, dude)
this was amazing and Thrawn himself would be impressed and consider this very artistically done
This feels like Star Wars to me. It is substantially superior to anything released by Disney +. I adore the Timothy Zahn novelizations and I feel that they would have made a worthwhile contribution to the Star Wars movies. I applaud this endeavor!
The real Episode 7, more Star Wars feels in those first 2 chapters than anything disney can put out. Hopefully you can at least finish the book
the great thing about this is the music doesn't seem out of place from my memory of the book at all. every time thrawn was featured i could almost hear the creepy organ music in the background
Kevin Kiner came up with an excellent piece of music for Thrawn :)
Amazing work, you are far superior than Disney!
Pelleon’s voice wasn’t great but Thrawn voice wasn’t bad. Great work.
Mark Thompson gets Pellaeon's voice right
As a fan of Disney Star Wars, I can say that this is absolutely fantastic. The voices, the visuals, the rebels thrawn theme in the background. Sends chills down my spine
Thankyou! I want fans of all aspects of Star Wars to be able to enjoy this project :)
This 6 minute long video was already better than the entire Disney Sequel Trilogy.
This is brilliant please do all of the true expanded universe
This is 1,000 times better than the Disney trilogy. Thrawn Trilogy is the official post-Return of the Jedi trilogy.
Thank you so much for bringing to life this Star Wars masterpiece. Let us know how may we support your talent to bring more chapters to life. You are a true Artist! MTFBW you.
The best way to support me is to watch and share my original work on Amazon :)

Hearing Thrawns voice over the rebellion ships being destroyed actually gave me goosebumps. This is such an amazing project and I can not wait for more to come!
Up to Chapter 8 now and the ninth is well underway :)
All best
Thankyou so much for all your kind words and your support! This is a dream project for me too and it's so good to see so many enjoying it :)
In my opinion this is what episode 7, 8 and 9 are supposed to be.
Great work.
Oh, man!
Woah! Long review, but a welcome one :) I do appreciate all your feedback, thankyou :)
This one took about three weeks to make, some of that time was waiting for the dialogue to be recorded. I don't think that can be a useful guide for how long it takes to produce more clips though, it really depends on how complex the scenes are.
I heartily applaud the effort. Thank you for all the work this must have taken.
Wow, that was amazing!
Do you have some samples I could listen to? :)
@@austinbecker6303 Please do :)
@@DarthAngelus I'd also like to volunteer my voice, if you decide to continue with these!
I'm glad you're enjoying it! :)
I love this, it's so heartwarming to see the EU adapted
It was a lot of fun to do :)
