Happened upon this performance from Eddie today. I thought to myself, I need to learn that, ryan will have a tutorial for this. And low and behold here it is. You never let me down sir. Best teacher on the tube.
I think the Cure are PJ-related-related enough that we should add their entire catalogue to the LIST. And I think Last Day of Summer would be a great place to start :)
Hi Ryan. New subscriber and PJ fan since their inception here. (Yes I’m in my 50’s)So glad I found your channel. I just saw the cover of this song and I immediately wanted to be able to play it. Even though I’ve never been a big fan of the cure I’ve always liked a few of their songs. Next thing I know boom there it is right on your channel. Thank you so much I also appreciate your teaching style. Please keep this awesome content coming.
10/14/22. EXCELLENT LESSON! For the lead, this is how I like to run up and down the fretboard, which is how Eddie Van Halen and Angus Young run up and down the fretboard, which is mainly playing the BLACK DOT FRETS along with FRET 10( all notes on fret 10 are natural notes: no sharps or flats). The black dot frets are all ODD NUMBER FRETS except for FRET 12, which typically has 2 BLACK DOTS. Lately, I’m really into playing 2- note chords, so I really enjoyed watching a popular song being played with 2-note chords, and this lead is usually how I play my leads, along with some droning open string all through my lead... I think Angus Young got his lead idea for “Thunderstruck” from Eddie Van Halen’s “Eruption.” Hey Ryan, who is playing “Eruption” live in Pearl Jam’s band, and how long has Pearl Jam been playing “Eruption” at their concerts? Take care, Ryan. EDIT NOTE: 10/17/22. Your “Inverted E Major chord with just 2 notes, G# and B, is also called an G# minor 2-note chord. So the same chord is both a Major and a minor chord! Take care, Ryan.
I LEARN ALL MY SONGS HERE! Can you please do a lesson for the tragically hip nautical disaster, I can get it to sound like the album even though I know the chords
Hi Ryan! I love your channel and I learned how to play guitar from your videos! I would love to see a tutorial for the song Backwater from the Meat Puppets, it's one of my favorite songs Sorry if my english is bad, i don't really speak english haha
I hate changing tunings. I leave one guitar a half step down and even that annoys me because I can’t use it for songs in standard tuning. Even though I have a clip on tuner, a jack socket tuner, a floor tuner, an old electronic tuner, an even older analogue tuner, a tuner on my phone and a tuner in a multi effects unit.
I already knew this song and I'll stick with the Cure. I'm pretty sure though that after the 3 F#m/G it goes to D, but then it goes to E. Dancing in the deepest... is D, but twisting in the water I play E, before going back to the verse.
Their cover went totally viral in every PJ fandom that exists, and for good reason. The Cure rock!
ja!
Fast and precise. Love it.❤
I was just looking for this tutorial. I didn't hesitate to click on this one, I love your videos!

Love your tutorials Ryan, nice and simple, no waffle and highly entertaining :)
why thank you Dave. As it were, I don't like waffles.

T MINUS ONE!

Thanks Ryan, can't wait to mix some of this in the next time our band practices this song
Rock on!
