Robert's getting older but his voice is still in the 80's!
Davie Asia he is old .
It's true
Old, hardly, he is the GOAT.
Old but gold . Great voice
Hab ich auch gedacht..;))
Is it me or did The Cure get better with age? Robert Smith's voice and The Cure's sound is still epic. They are forever classic and will never die.
will tell you later as this just came into my feed but morrissey is as good and relevent..his music has stood the test of time and of course he is still writing brilliant songs.
They certainly haven't diminished! They exude an amazing amount of energy...
not better............just great..........

yep!! better with all the years behind
Can we please just take a moment to appreciate how good a bass guitar can actually sound.
The bass totally drives this.
Simon Gallup is one of the very best.
It’s not live watch when they stop behind him and talk
It is Simon!

It is like unbelievable how Robert’s voice never changed!!
My gosh!!!
What a talent!

Ladies and Gentleman...this is real music !! Amazing lyrics, timeless melody....absolute perfection !!
Excellent . Love the Cure
I saw them in 81 with a crowd 150 people. My first concert ❤️
Awesome!
Robert’s voice is intact.
absolutely
Sure is, didn't change a bit!
I agree but do we think it's his real, unaltered voice? I can't decide.
So is my Rubik's Cube
Carlos
Oh yeah!!
😎😎💪🏻💪🏻
His voice has never changed. Still the same Robert we all love.
Listen euphoria by the eagulls 😎👍
Agreed, saw them at Glastonbury a few years back and if anything he sounds better now than he ever has! 🙌
The Cure is more than one of my favorite bands. The Cure is my adolescence. When I was awkward and felt totally alone in my weirdness, their music was my anchor. Robert Smith's voice is unique , he has a good soul and is a very nice person too! And a Great and Epic Artist ! 🤘🎸🎹
Honestly Robert smith sounds essentially the same as when this song was recorded. I saw them live in 2019 and was blown away by how little his voice has changed since the 80s
Robert's voice is "imperishable "
right technique
what I hate about the cure is that once you play the first song UA-cam will auto play another song and the whole day passes by and you didn't get anything done, this has been happening to me since the 90s
Waae sunormá
I would consider that a day well spent.
Wow what a shit day!
You me both
So funny but so true...
Love it when these bands keep the sound and image going after decades.
Exactly mate. Aging is a blessing! There’s millions who would give everything to be their age
This guy can still sing. His voice is like a man in his 20s. Remarkable.
That bassline. That bassline.
In the Bible, things are written two times to emphasize their importance.
That bassline.
so good katy perry has a whole song based on it.
👍🏼✌🏼🤟🏼
Incredible.
🤙🤙👊👊
Robert's body can change, but not his marvelous voice. It's simply amazing!!!!
Amazing !
most true, indeed! Kinda like Peter Gabriel...
It's better...you can tell by the ticket sales.
Beyond remarkable! If only Sting were so lucky. Sometime between seeing the Police reunion tour in 2008 and his latest recordings, it just kills me how badly his upper register has decayed.
@@jeffreywolfe1 register ?
So many memories. Skipping school, hanging out with my girlfriend, playing the cure, skating, making out, stealing shit at the mall…man I’m 50 now. I miss the 80s. Magical time it was.
Soundtrack of my life. The Cure - unique and another dimension of music.
So cool when you hear a singer that's taken care of his voice like this! Not many of that great generation of music that sound exactly the same!
@tincho his hair and lipstick have been the same for years, it's part of who he is.
@Valentin de las Carreras Agreed. I'm not sure exactly when his look veered into drunken middle-aged aunt, but it's not good.
He's never been a vocal acrobat, and doesn't sing in a high register. Easier on the vocal chords over the years. A lot of the voices of hard rock/metal singers from the same era are roached now.
I’ve seen at least a dozen of him singing this song live. Only in the video does he sing a higher key on the why of “why are you so far away.” 1:57
Robert’s voice still sounds awesome, just like in his 20s.
l-e-g-e-n-d-a-r-y
I disagree I think he sounds a bit better
After more than 30 years this song brings me to my knees. So powerful, so connecting.
Holy crap his voice has not changed an octave! Incredible. I needed this after watching Tears for Fears now :(
An octave is a lot lol, is this all sarcasm?
@@karll5164 no way it’s sarcasm, a lot of people use music terms without actually knowing what they mean but really who cares lol
There are some people who just use some terms of speech like the most of us and then there are people who must everyone let know that they are experts for whatever.
The cure's songs for me are "just like a dream"

This is almost 5 yrs ago now but just wanna say.. Robert’s voice has never sounded better! How amazing is this band?! My wife’s favorite & one of mine for sure!
I was born in 97. And i didnt coe across this and many other grrst songs till late 2000's. And i knw this fir certain. This and many other 70s and 80s songs are litterly immortal and live eternally. Unlike most of today's songs which people forget in a matter of week or 2.
You need to lay off the drinks Jacob😁 .But mate ,they are good and brings back so many memories for me ,And a bloke of your age loving them speaks volumes 👍👍

I was never a Cure fan growing up but this song decades later means so much to me now. What an incredible live performance.
Robert's voice is so unique. Love and devotion into his music. Simon is awesome .
Love the cure but can't belive how old we are getting
Try my rocks channel bro..thanks.
I'm youngish at the moment and I would gladly trade in my youth now if I got to be young in the 70s or 80s where music like this was coming out in real time. Long story short, I'm totally jelly of your generation ❤️
Can't believe it's 35 years since I was going to cure gigs was so lucky to see best times and best members line up... fantastic memories ❣️
Travelled to Athens in July to see them, I’m 60 years old now and they sound as good as when I first listened to them when I was in my 20’s 😀
@@duncancoulton9209 that's awesome Duncan
I would have to rate this as one of the all time great live performances. To think it was performed over 30 years after the song was first released tells you the Cure has lost absolutely nothing. Simply impressive !!!!
Some bands change as the years go on but The Cure is incredibly in the consistent quality of their music. Ya gotta love The Cure
The most beautiful show I've ever seen in my entire life. This stage is phenomenal and the singer is just brilliant.
This band. This song. This voice.
Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick
The one that makes me scream she said
The one that makes me laugh she said
Threw her arms around my neck
Show me how you do it and I'll promise you
I'll promise that I'll run away with you, I'll run away with you
Spinning on that dizzy edge
Kissed her face and kissed her head
Dreamed of all the different ways, I had to make her glow
Why are you so far away she said
Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you?
That I'm in love with you?
You, soft and only, you lost and lonely
You, strange as angels
Dancing in the deepest oceans
Twisting in the water
You're just like a dream
You're just like a dream

This song is a timeless and classic masterpiece never gets old brings back so many memories of the past when things were different more simple and pure great times to be young and alive without any second thoughts and without any serious problems the only thing that never changes through the years passing is good music and definitely the memories that follows it......!!!!!!!

His voice is still the same as the 80's, that's wonderful.
I really hate getting older, but feel really blessed that I grew up in the 80's and 90's!😊
I'm only 21 and I envy your generation. I would much rather be getting old and have been able to live through such an amazing era rather than to grow up in a generation I dont belong in. I really can't relate to people my age man.
@@jaxonmoon9815 Don’t “envy,” just enjoy the 80's & 90's. Many of us back then probably felt we didn’t belong (I did), that’s just growing pains. Only when you look back, you realize how amazing it was…that’s why every step you take now needs to count. You’re only 21 man! The world is your oyster! You can do anything! Make us old guys proud and bring “amazing” to your generation and when you look back, you’ll be like “I was blessed in the 2020's!” GL!
Best era for music by far

The drummer deserves everything. Such a difficult song to play, he drums non stop the whole time.
One of the most beautiful arrangement of a rock and roll song ever.
Vaya, a pesar de los años la voz de Robert Smith sigue siendo fantastica

And it is, just like Heaven! That you The Cure!
Brilliant! Sounds as amazing, fresh and unique as it did the first time I heard it. What The genius of The Cure to me is any of their songs can be alternative, rock, ballad, pop, dark, goth, synth, dance, odd, relatable, complicated, simple, however all of them are actually beautifully constructed expressions of surprisingly universal appeal. That is remarkable and dare I say “Beatlesque”. The Cure are timeless! ❤️
There really isn't anything else quite like this... ☺
Very nicely put.
This song will forever be a masterpiece
Still one of my all time favorites! Always puts a smile on my face and a skip in my step. His voice never changes.

La voz de Robert es atemporal, es intacta, lo amo.
Robert Smith is amongst those singers that learn to adapt their voice so 30+ years down the road they can still perform well. For example, I think Eddie Vedder's voice now might be better than back in 1991.
Vedder's voice is still amazing but not like it was when he was in his mid 20'a.
Ehm... no, Eddie Vedder's voice is nowhere near what was like in the early 90's. He was a beast, his energy was off the charts and it transpired though his voice. Like others have said, MTV Unplugged is their top video documented performance (having Dave Abbruzzese on drums made no small difference, btw :D Or you could go check out the 1994 Atlanta gigs. Unbelievable. After those, it kinda went downhill for PJ.
Nada vai se compara a isso, a voz, a melodia tudo isso faz parte de uma geração onde a musica nos trazia amor, felicidade... The cure forever.
A voz continua a mesma. Incrivel
