Honestly? My favorite of the "personal villains". She is smart, ambitious, creative and a necromancer who actually not only didn't need blood magic for her massive necromancy spells and did a lot of work to get what she wanted, even cut off her own hand without a second thought. Also, her glasses were great. They scream "mad scientist" and i love her voice. Her voice actor did an amazing job with her.
And I'm certain the BioWare writer's room agrees - I notice no other villains, not even Solas, got to hang out in the Lighthouse where we can talk with them at will.
"Fates worse than death" Reduced to a skull and knocked down from the height of the power they obtained all the while awaiting judgement from their former peers. Sure, there's always a chance she might get free again but the odds of the Mourn Watchers, and the Lich Lords specifically, get caught slipping with her are probably too low to allow a chance at escaping her bonds.
It makes my heart so happy to see you uploading again Fluffy! I also want to express my love for this game, yes it has its issues, but do I care? Absolutely not.
100% Agree! It's a fun game, it's not perfect but nothing ever is. Don't care what anyone else says, as long as I enjoy playing it, it's good in my eyes.
THE RETURN OF THE QUEEN, THE GOAT! THE LLAMA! Going to the topic, it seems that the famous Disgusted Noise is a common Nevarran gesture. How many times Johanna lets out those noises?
@ it's the lack of emotion that's the problem. The poor script the other. Lots of other characters have been cheery but not cheesy. Lots of other characters were playful, but not childish. All characters from previous games, love them or hate them, actually had good voice acting and great scrips
6:10 I mean she has a point, besides being massive.... it's just a big skeleton. Johanna wasn't the creative sort was she, unless it involved cruelty to spirits.
I guess that she wanted to turn herself into a complete lich (Emmerich becomes a walking skeleton if he enters lichdom), only bigger so to litterally squash her enemies under her foot. Also, maybe she considered that adding more arms or body parts like wings on a skeleton of that size would take too much time or be too much of a hassle
@@andreagrussu6778 That's fair and I too hadn't considered the idea until Bellara brought it up. Also it would probably take time to get used to controling the extra apendages if they could even be attatched to her new vessel, which would make her vulnurable at least at the start. So yeah I can see the idea being her simply becoming a True Lich but bigger/tankier as a flex to show how much better she is than the others, no need for any other gimmicks when strenght and magical power were all she would require.
@@regiman222 yep. And also, as cool as it would be to give it a mean to fly, i do not think it could with skeletal wings. Especially because birds' bones are hollow and humans' are not And also, Johanna can lavitate in her human body so maybe she could have done it with the skeleton if she successfully became it
You've proven to me that even with all of the bad things idea, you still managed to find the best-script of the "perceived bad writing game" to showcase for us. that, I appreciate
Am I the only one hearing Hezenkoss's voice actress, Juliet Landau and still has a harder time, not hearing Drusilla from Buffy now? Hard not to hear that from a skull that once tried to rule Nevarra as a half-lich before, believe me, still, times don't change, when you hear someone play one villain that is seen as mad and then one she plays, who really is mad and insane, right? Weird.
How have I missed this despite constantly checking on all my companions constantly? I know I ran in here once and saw this skull once and wondered what it was but Hezenkoss never spoke :(
I don't know if you will answer Fluffy but if you do i like to know, what do you think of Veilguard? there's much hate and dissapointment about this game and i hate to say it but many of them are kinda right in some aspects, i like to hear what you think thought since you are probably a bigger fan of this game like me :( No worries, if you are a great fan and still enjoy the little bits that it gives, is okay, i am not toxic xD and you can give a big explanation of all if you want, i wanna know all
She just said in the video that the only thing the Mourn Watch found intact was her skull. My guess they gave her skull to Emmrich to keep control over her.
Thanks for DAtV content, I'm too mournful about what coud've been and what they did wrong to play it myself, but as a fellow lore enthusiast I still want to see everything the game has to offer.
Missed opportunity to make Johanna a Tranquil at the end of that quest. Maybe that could've been the moral dilemma, instead of reviving Manfrend. Make Johanna Tranquil and give up lichdom because it messes with the spirit of the human, or become a lich but risk Johanna fucking about in the future.
That is a very interesting idea! Just a question though. Emmerich says that a lich basically is a mage' souls tied to their own deceased body thanks to magic. So... if someone performance the rite of tranquillity on such a creature, would it have the normal effect of curling off its magical powers and emotions, or would it kill it outright by breaking the magic that ties the soul to the body? Or maybe even leave the lich in an eternal vegetative state in which it can't do anything but stay immobile, conscious yet unresponsive for the rest of times. What do you think?
@@andreagrussu6778Oh, lemme re-clarify, sorry for the confusion; I more so meant this as an alternative to outright killing her. I was somewhat venting my frustrations with the way Emmerich's questline ended. All this build-up about Emmerich's struggle with his fear of mortality only for his big moral dilemma to have nothing to do with it. Although, to answer your question, I don't think the rite or tranquility dispels and spells previously cast on the body, just curbs the emotions and inherent magical ability of the recipient. Therefore, I believe making Johanna undergo the rite of tranquility would keep her in the semi-undead state from the bulk of the game but strip her of her magic and ambition. The moral dilemma I proposed was essentially choosing between letting an immortal undead mage continue running around for all eternity doing whatever she pleases, or nip her evildoing in the bud at great cost to not only her but also yourself.
@@bryanaughal261 okay thank you very much for your theory. I just admit i would have been a little sad to see a Tranquil Johanna. I honestly like her character very much and honestly, she is not nearly as annoying as Eremond🤣 Honestly, if you want to hear my idea, it could have been interesting if they kept a lich as something that a necromancer SHOULD NOT aspire to be. They are the people who preserve the cycle of life and death, who glorify death and take great pride in performing their duties, so immortality (at least in this scenario) could be percieved as blasphemy because it breaks that cycle and only necromancers as arrogant or as reckless as Johanna would aspire to be something like that. Especially if (in this idea's version of lichdom) it was necessary to steal the life of others like Johanna intended to do to become a lich (i mean, immortality should not be given that easily) And at this point, Emmerich's moral conflict could have been between being swallowed by his fear of dying and be tempted to use the lantern to turn himself into a lich to escape from death, getting enormous powers but at the cost of getting kicked out of the Mournwatch like Johanna did or accept that everything sooner or later fades, including himself, and destroy the lantern for good, deciding then to enjoy the time he has instead of fearing something that is simply part of life
@@regiman222 well, if being stripped of every part of her body, internal or external, exept her skull wasn't enough to kill her and didn't even damage her consciousness... if, as you say, the rite didn't break the bond between soul and body, then I don't think she could die from the rite. I just wonder if the rite of tranqullity would even work on a mage who is physically dead

not me almost sobbing when this popped up in my recommended and seeing the uploader. Glad you're back
Didnt know your back until now...Fluffy its good to have you back
Even as a skull, Johanna's sass is legendary! 😂
Good to see you back Fluffy!
I love Manfred😂 "BAD"
I wouldn't be surprised if Manfred would one day steal Taash's axe and smashes Johanna's skull. Or starts calling Johanna even worse expletives.
Choked on my drink when I saw this.
I legitimately spat my drink at "Ever thought of becoming a hat person?". Had to rewind the video after missing it frantically cleaning the screen.
Is it wrong that I love Johanna? 😇
If loving Johanna is wrong, then I don't wanna be right! 😂
Love those frames on Emmrich's walls. Should try to commission similar one for my old medical-biology posters.
You have no idea how excited I was when I saw your video in my sub feed, welcome back!!
So happy to have you back!
Johanna is one of the most memorable Dragon Age characters although she only had small screentime.
Not with that voice acting and dialogue
