I just finished working on my 1997 Polaris Sportsman 500. I first thought it was my cam then my timing then the cab then the CDI box. I replaced all of that. To day I put the new CDI box in and it did not work so I replaced the coil and we put the air box on and then we noticed that 5 wing nuts were missing on the air box. So we put them back on and it work the best I have ever had it work. I really love the videos.

Nice. I tend to forget about the coil when people ask questions. I usually pull the sparkplug and test for spark with it plugged in and touching metal. Interesting about the airbox. The magnums had issues like that. If the airbox wasn't sealed correctly it would run bad. With the CV carbs, its all about vacuum. If there is a crack in the intake boot or airbox the carb doesn't perform like it should.

That's awesome! I also have a 2001 Sportsman 500 6x6, low hours , love the machine! Was looking for a rear caliper. Couldn't find a replacement! Any leads would be great . Great videos BTW thank you from Northern Ohio !

I'll use a hand brake off a motorcycle. They work the same.

I miss read your post. You can use front calipers from a 2001 Sportsman. Sorry for the confusion.

Hey there I have the same Polaris but I have a question.
The Polaris sportsman that I have I rebuilt it to put a new head gasket in because the coolant was bubbling back. After the rebuild the coolant would bubble back when hot. Do you know what could be the problem? I put a new OEM gasket on. And love the videos

I would check the thermostat,,impeller and make sure the radiator is flushed out. I just had that problem on the yellow 500. Turned out it was a thermostat not fully opening. And I had to get all the air out of the system. I used a pressure tester for that.
