Man we used to go down to Cape Coral alot and all their canals and ponds the are connected to canals had big tarpon and snook in them good memories fishing g down there
@@Flyinfishing69 There was a bar and grill in Cape Coral that was called Rum Runners and it had a spillway right behind it one night we were fishing on it and I had laid my rod down on my tackle bag I had it baited with a frozen sardine I turned my back for a second something picked my bait up off the bottom and snatched my combo right in the water gone! The guy I was fishing with said it was probably a big tarpon or snook, it made me sick losing that rod and reel.
In this video I think I was only using like 20lb leader and a tiny size 2 hook or something. But I wouldn't recommend that. I'd use at least a 30lb mono leader and a 2/0 hook
i found a spot in miami that has tarpon doing daisy chain. theyre massive. ive hooked 4 of them back to back with shiners but cant successfully catch one. they always spit the hook when they jump D:
Thanks. It's a star stellar lite 8' fast tapper. 6-17lb line rating 1/4 - 5/8oz lure rated rod. With a stradic 5000 spooled with 15lb braid and 20lb mono leader if I recall correctly

For sure! I've been watching your stuff. I'm just getting into fishing that area so I haven't put together any spots yet. I've been doing mostly largemouth and peacock in Central and South florida. I will figure it out for sure though.
I felt everything you were experiencing. I've been in that situation before. That was an awesome video man!
Thank you!

@@snukewithluke7302 yep should still be good. Live shiners will work great for tarpon

There are also blue crabs in that lake LOL
I know! I saw them last time I was fishing it and I was so confused lol
What is that rod and reel setup? That’s amazing for lighter tackle.

Nice setup. Thanks. It looks like it handled the tarpon well.
I have a Vanford 5000 on a G Loomis 7’4” MH Pro Green. It sounds similar to your setup.
@@stevedupree525 yep that's the perfect combo for small/medium tarpon and big snook.
Now I have to find the time to do it.
