    When Is Twitch Most Active?
    If you check Sullygnome, which tracks live channels and it is linked in the description, you’ll be able to see the trends of viewers per channel and live channels. I have mine set to UTC+10:00 which is my timezone here in Australia, which shows me that usually, the time when there is a peak amount of channels live on Twitch is 7AM AEST, or 9PM in the United Kingdom, or around 1PM in California.
    At 8PM AEST, my time it has the least amount of channels live, and then it begins to ramp until as I said, 7AM AEST when it triples in live channels, that’s a lot of channels to compete with, isn’t it?
    You’ll also see that the most amount of viewers using Twitch peaks almost perfectly with the exact same trend, which makes sense as more content and more viewers. At its lowest, 1.2 million viewers, and at its highest around 3.7 million viewers.

    How Often Should You Stream On Twitch
    I get asked a lot how often you should stream in order to grow, and I think the answer is different depending on the person but there are some rules that you need to follow.
    You see, all content creation is a velocity game, don’t get me wrong it's a marathon and not a sprint, lucky for me because I haven’t run in years, but essentially you need to be building more of an audience than you are losing. If you look at channels on UA-cam or Twitch, you’ll often see they can have a huge number of subscribers or followers but low views.
    This is usually because the audience has been gained over a long period of time, and that means as new subscribers or followers have come in, older ones have lost interest, lost their account, or any other reasons. I call these Graveyard Subs, because they are dead accounts essentially. It’s why a lot of you guys have heaps of followers but struggle with 3 average viewers.
    So when it comes to how often you should stream, I do think picking 2 - 3 days a week to stream for a minimum of 2 - 3 hours is the best bet if you want to grow. I stream 5 nights a week, for 3 hours or more because I can manage to do that while working my 9-5 and doing the videos here. I rarely miss a night, meaning the velocity of my growth is higher than graveyard subs.
    The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

    This is good to know. I set up my stream times almost arbitrarily and I'm just about to settle into my second week on Twitch (third overall as I did a brief start on YT). I decided on two different times to try and get a wider audience, and by coincidence one of the times I picked was almost at peak user and stream numbers. Still I agree with your wider points on this because - like you said - odds are you'll have local audiences or catch those who aren't on a traditional work/sleep schedule

    Thanks a bunch for this video mate. I am only just looking at getting into streaming. the videos you have been putting out lately have been absolutely brilliant. My brother does long streams every day 10+ hours and with everything going on its difficult to find the time but when you mentioned 3 hour streams, I really resonated with that because if you have family commitments it makes it really hard to commit huge hours to one game as im generally on the road a lot or taxi driver for my family. I play world of warcraft classic and enjoy the social community style that twitch offers while im playing but with looking at people doing 10 hour streams i was thinking that was the normal. after watching you break down why shorter streams can be more effective I start seeing the potential on where I could plan something more reasonable at least in the early stages. consistency is key in all of it and I like how you find time to do both twitch and youtube content. I planned to do content on youtube as well or potentially stream on youtube at some point.

    I've been thinking about starting streaming in the first months of the new year, but I'm still learning how to set up and gathering the items to make this possible.
    I wanted to ask if you already made a specific tutorial on how to build a greenscreen? I know it sounds silly, but I don't know exactly how to put that green cardboard/blanket up and make obs make the green become the background you want it to be haha.
    As many others I started on UA-cam first, but it wasn't to build an audience here, but rather for building an habit to talk to a screen every week and have somewhere to publish funny clips from the art and game streams I'd love to make on Twitch.

    I have a great example of this, when I started I was on retail and still had a schedule, sure it got a bit messed up with work sometimes but I made sure to tell any little viewers I had. A while later (2 months into my streaming carreer) I needed a mental health break because work was destroying me, a month and a half later I come back with a new schedule that fit my community better and I had a pretty good surge in viewers! Then I moved jobs and because I was working full-time I didn't have the chance to stream for about a month, I came back and had half of the regulars, this was in August and only now did I recover that traction, try your best to stick to the schedule, most streamers I watch and interact with have a set amount of people that interact and are always there at the time of their stream, the rest are people coming in and engaging.
    As always keep at it, stay strong! You can make it!

      Luckily, we aren't competing! People like to compare and draw contrast because we both create education, but UA-cam isn't a competition, videos are uploaded and can be watched by anyone at anytime. The only time competition happens is if we both create videos on search topics and try to rank for those topics but Harris rarely creates around search, he just releases hype/trending style content for clickability. • @SnYpReCoN
    @SnYpReCoN 2 роки тому

    Good stuff as always bro! I pretty much agree with everything, except the scheduling. I really think that scheduling takes a toll for many new streamers because they think they can do it and put on a bunch on their schedule and miss half of them. Some feel the pressure of having to keep up with those schedule "or else."They start second-guessing themselves and end up underperforming. or worse, they end up rushing content with no preparation just to "put something out."
    When they can't go through with their promise to stream, it is shown as a disappointment or inconsistency and you lose would-be followers, besides personal matters, of course. Having a set or consistent schedule is more doable for those who already have a good amount of following and you've honed your streaming persona and established your personal schedule around streaming.
    I think as you're growing from 0-100+ followers, the best advice is to stream as many as you practically can without compromising providing quality content, and without sacrificing anything major in your personal life. The only consistency I would suggest is streaming around the same hours you normally stream. And if you can't, it's not the end of the world. In the end, see what works for your life and what's actually practical and doable. Don't force it because it is always better to have quality videos than rushed content that just screams amateur and can be looked at as someone who clearly doesn't care about his craft.
    I'm still learning and a baby tadpole amongst streamers, but I'm loving the process and taking my time to really find my comfortability. I'm accepting all my mistakes and trying to learn from them each and everytime.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  2 роки тому

      A schedule is actually the only thing that matters when you're 0-100 followers.
      People are creatures of habit, if you are live the same times and days weekly, they'll keep coming back as long as they enjoy the content.
      If you're missing days, you've set a bad schedule.
      If you do not have a schedule early on, and people aren't sure when you're coming back or whats going on, they'll find someone else who provides consistent content.
      All of your points against a schedule only make sense if someone has made a bad schedule.
      On the topic of videos, I actually still recommend a weekly schedule as well.
      Obviously don't put trash out, but setting a deadline and working towards it is important because UA-cam likes consistency BUT even more important, if you release 5 videos and make 3 mistakes per video, then in 5 weeks you've learned 15 new mistakes not to make.
      If you never set a schedule, and just release when its done, you'll grow much slower because you lack consistency, and your quality will improve much slower.

There were a handful of great but small streamers but everyone just needed to hear the same things we've covered on the channel.
      Don't stream oversaturated categories, level your mic properly, turn off follower only chat, get rid of the donation goals, etc, etc.
      Once we grow a bit more we are going to look at doing it again, but right now we'd just be repeating content and people won't like that. Sorry again! We really wanted to but yeah!

    Hey new to the community here! Currently planning and building a set up for my streaming plan. Focused on sales and remote work. In your video, I couldn't find where you said what was better, maximum activity on twitch or least is best to start a stream.

      Neither matters, it is about being consistent with your times and schedule. Pick a schedule and stick to it, that is the best time :)
