Good stuff as always. Thank you for the advice. I'm glad you mentioned thinking a big raid will make you a star and how that's just a fantasy. Big raids are great. I average 5 viewers, sometimes getting up to 12 or 13 playing Mario Maker 2. Once PangaeaPanga raided me for about 500 viewers. Did I get 500 new fans? No. I got about 20 new followers and a few new regulars. I consider these numbers a success. A much bigger streamer gave his audience a glimpse at me and a few started watching. That's the value of raids.

This channel has helped me so much and it really feels like a weekly meeting I need to have with myself on keeping my content fun and enjoyable not just for chat, but myself. Raids aren't really the key to success, it is you as the creator building a fun environment and community that people want to take part in. Out of every 10 follows I get on twitch, 1 is usually likely to stick around and come back every stream. Work on building the community one person at a time, from there, it can only get better.

I recently reached affiliate and watched this to pick up tips to better myself as I grow because I love your content man, your tips and advice are without doubt one of the reasons I was able to reach affiliate.
After watching this video I am pleasantly surprised to realise that I am doing all of these things already and that is an encouraging epiphany for me.
The value I got from this video was your first point on what types of content there are because my goal has always been to create content that makes people laugh and escapism for whatever trials and tribulations they are going through in their life but I was not sure if that counted as a type of content until this video.
Most importantly though I am someone who has constantly been told throughout my life that I will never achieve my goals because I am fat (true) with frizzy hair (true) and wear glasses (true), so no matter how good I am at content creation I will never make a career out of it. It took time but I have finally realised that all of that stuff should not stop me persuing my dreams and if I make it inspite of that, well then it will just be all the more fulfilling for me. So that is a subtext to my content, I want people to be able to watch me, see my flaws but also see how I do not dwell on them, I do not let them define me and, hopefully in the future, that I achieved my goals inspite of them.
As I said I have just reached affiliate and it goes to show that good content does will out.
I love your work man and can not wait to see more.

The last advice is the best advice. The more I watch my videos the less things like: listening to my own voice or looking at my own face makes me uncomortable. I know i'm trying my best, and despite my past if I'm being able to do it, to find the force to try to improve, it's also thanks to you.

Was just streaming for 5 hours, but got 1 follower out of it! I've seen your videos and I think they really do help, I was kind of in the dark about what game I should play, my audio, looking back and learning from VODs, as I was mainly just doing streaming as a hobby. But now that I've seen some of your videos and learned from them, you give me the confidence that this streaming hobby of mine can grow and hopefully reach to others! Knowing that if I work smart enough, I can earn money while making people happy and doing what I love, makes me happy too!

I've been going through videos like these quite a bit in the past month and have gotten quite inspired in ways to improve my content. Since the start of 2021 I've been wanting to improve my streaming content, so by means of your videos (and some others) I've been working on concrete, small steps to do so. Be it from creating a schedule and trying to stick with it, improving my audio quality by getting a proper mic and solidifying the direction I want to go content-wise (and I still have a way to go when it comes to casual gameplay, I've never really dabbled into that before).
And from there, scripting and working towards my first bit of proper UA-cam content. It'll be an interesting road to travel, but thanks for the videos you've put out so far! They've been a great help :)

I find it hard to actually 'enjoy' my own content when watching it back for review, but that's mostly just due to having an abnormally strong dislike of the sound of my own voice. I think a lot of people don't really like to hear themselves talk, but it just gets to me more than most people I know. I know it's a late comment, but I love how you say things as they are. you try your best not to sugar coat things, and even when you do say things harshly, you follow up with a confidence-booster. You weren't harsh of anything in this video, but at the end you've really boosted my confidence, which lowered because I've been worried about a plateau. *Watches 'till the end to get the promised tip*
    I KNEW IT!
I actually learned fairly early on to watch myself back in whatever sort of performance I was doing (if at all possible). My Drama teacher in high school insisted that we watch our own performances to be able to see where we could improve, what worked and what didn't, what line sounded flat and unfeeling and which one was full of emotion. Watching it allowed us to remember what we were feeling (emotionally, bodily, etc) and adjust accordingly.
I know it's said not to upload vods to UA-cam, but I do so. I do very small edits, if necessary, and cut them up into chunks for upload simply because I know that Twitch will NOT keep the vod up for very long. That being said, I often wind up super distracted while editing and missing the point where I was planning on cutting because I'm watching my own stream and got sucked in XD

I was in their streams a few times and every time it popped off a bit as I have a very hyper personality I can use when on camera, so when I was finally able to stream myself (stupid AUS internet had to be upgraded a bit) everyone I had been with for a stream before was super hyped. I will admit I have a bit of a UA-cam audience as well but knowing other streamers helped me A LOT!

The ending is great advice. It's fine to draw inspiration but you gotta be yourself and be willing to think critically of your own content. Just looked over my last stream and saw how nervous I tend to get. Definitely gonna use that tip to keep improving and try to relax. Also helped me notice how my mic is pretty far away and makes that empty room sound, simple stuff like moving it closer and retweaking the settings goes a long way. Thanks dude!

I'm not sure if you've covered a video on the particular topic however, you also have good verbal technique which you may want to do a video on. you continually remind people in your videos that a super helpful tip is coming up but you'll also throw other pieces in as either quality or filler content. The same technique can be applied in twitch streaming as well if someone pays attention. especially as you get bigger when people start doing random giveaways in their stream it keeps people enticed that they might win the giveaway. Also a trend that is becoming much larger in the twitch community is finding other streamers you like especially if they're small or mid-level streamers and you raid them allowing your followers to see content that you may find interesting. some people think of it as trying to give away their followers however, I would pick things that you find interesting but are not necessarily in the same field as your own content.

This video does make sense; I know that I’ve been recording my streams then editing them to upload to YT. I know there are sections within my stream I sit there and go ‘WTF am I doing’ and other times when I’m streaming to ZERO viewers that I have reactions to things and I’m like that’s ‘good’ content - Twitch has become very saturated I feel in the last 12mths; I’ve seen streamers that have started 3-6mths after I did crack that 5k followers in next to know time and yet I’m still struggling to hit 400 and we both produce the same kind of content; I sit through hours and hours of twitch streams and the YT videos just like this one. I am constantly adjusting and I stream varies games and yet struggling to break that 1-3 viewer cycle, I might get ‘lucky’ and be raided by another small streamer, get a couple of followers from that then have them hang around for a little bit to then them to go. LUCK has a lot to do with Twitch I feel but I guess I’ll just keep doing me and slowly adjusting and try get good content

I’m often at the top of my category, but only because Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is a dead category. It’s easy to be at the top of a dead category, but you get like no new viewers from it. After three weeks of streaming in it I think I got 1 new chatter from it. Being in a dead category is bad for growth even if you are at the top of it. I’m learning this one the hard way.
