How To Make YOUR Twitch Stream WORTH Watching! - Twitch Growth 2021!

  • People always say to grow on Twitch you need to "Make Good Content" But what is good content? How do I measure if my content is good? Unique chatters? Followers? Average Viewers?
For the past year, I have intensely critiqued everything I have done and the thing I have struggled most with is the question, “Do I Make Good Content?”
The short answer Good Content at its CORE is the question, “What value will I provide to someone else who watches my content?” let’s talk about that.

How To Tell If Your Stream Is Worth Watching?
If you want Twitch Growth in 2021 then you need to know if your stream and content is worth watching, to do this is easy!
Follow along step by step, Sit down, open your stream or your video after it is done and posted, full screen it, and just watch it. Watch from the start. Are you bored? Are you enjoying yourself? Would you watch your own content? Does your content make you smile? Relax? Does it meet the goal you set out for your own content earlier in this video? Be honest with yourself.
While you watch, take notes of what is good, bad, what could be better, and at the end of all that… this most important part…. Do not wallow, do not hate yourself. See a chance to grow, and take it by improving.

How To Make Your Stream Worth Watching?
For this step, I want you to write down which of these topics you are going to fall into mostly, and then 4 - 5 content creators who you enjoy watching, and want to create content similar too.
If you take your 4 - 5 creators and look at why you respect or enjoy their content then bring those together for your content, you’ll start being able to go a long way.
My 5 creators again were Julien, WhatIfJulia, Nutty, Ludwig, and Devin Nash. I have talked about traits I value of theirs in this video, and how I try to use them to grow my Twitch.
The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

Good stuff as always. Thank you for the advice. I'm glad you mentioned thinking a big raid will make you a star and how that's just a fantasy. Big raids are great. I average 5 viewers, sometimes getting up to 12 or 13 playing Mario Maker 2. Once PangaeaPanga raided me for about 500 viewers. Did I get 500 new fans? No. I got about 20 new followers and a few new regulars. I consider these numbers a success. A much bigger streamer gave his audience a glimpse at me and a few started watching. That's the value of raids.

Dude, I've been watching your videos for the last two weeks....a million thanks to you for your content!! I just decided a few weeks ago, that I was going to start streaming live music on Twitch and I have never done such a thing before (i play in bars and hotels and such, but livestreaming? Nah)... it's forced me to learn incredible things and you have been so helpful in the clarity of my vision for my channel, I've streamed a few times, but still learning how to navigate Twitch properly. just yesterday I streamed a game that wasn’t oversaturated for the first time, and gained 7 followers in one stream to reach affiliate on twitch! Although I’ve been watching your videos and have known for a while that I shouldn’t be playing valorant or overwatch for stream growth, I never tried a different game because I didn’t think I would enjoy it. All it took was one stream and a few new chatters for a new world to open itself up to my streaming career! Thank you!!!

This channel has helped me so much and it really feels like a weekly meeting I need to have with myself on keeping my content fun and enjoyable not just for chat, but myself. Raids aren't really the key to success, it is you as the creator building a fun environment and community that people want to take part in. Out of every 10 follows I get on twitch, 1 is usually likely to stick around and come back every stream. Work on building the community one person at a time, from there, it can only get better.

I've been going through videos like these quite a bit in the past month and have gotten quite inspired in ways to improve my content. Since the start of 2021 I've been wanting to improve my streaming content, so by means of your videos (and some others) I've been working on concrete, small steps to do so. Be it from creating a schedule and trying to stick with it, improving my audio quality by getting a proper mic and solidifying the direction I want to go content-wise (and I still have a way to go when it comes to casual gameplay, I've never really dabbled into that before).
And from there, scripting and working towards my first bit of proper UA-cam content. It'll be an interesting road to travel, but thanks for the videos you've put out so far! They've been a great help :)

Damn, this was a good video, been watching a lot of these as of late, one thing I do want to mention that helped me hit affiliate (It took me about two weeks from my first stream) is knowing other streamers that are willing to help. I was in their streams a few times and every time it popped off a bit as I have a very hyper personality I can use when on camera, so when I was finally able to stream myself (stupid AUS internet had to be upgraded a bit) everyone I had been with for a stream before was super hyped. I will admit I have a bit of a UA-cam audience as well but knowing other streamers helped me A LOT!
Anyways, thanks for all the brilliant videos, they have provided an endless amount of help with either teaching me something new or confirming a practice I already do is a good one to continue.

I've seen your videos and I think they really do help, I was kind of in the dark about what game I should play, my audio, looking back and learning from VODs, as I was mainly just doing streaming as a hobby. But now that I've seen some of your videos and learned from them, you give me the confidence that this streaming hobby of mine can grow and hopefully reach to others! Knowing that if I work smart enough, I can earn money while making people happy and doing what I love, makes me happy too!

*Watches 'till the end to get the promised tip*
    I KNEW IT!
I actually learned fairly early on to watch myself back in whatever sort of performance I was doing (if at all possible). My Drama teacher in high school insisted that we watch our own performances to be able to see where we could improve, what worked and what didn't, what line sounded flat and unfeeling and which one was full of emotion. Watching it allowed us to remember what we were feeling (emotionally, bodily, etc) and adjust accordingly.
I know it's said not to upload vods to UA-cam, but I do so. I do very small edits, if necessary, and cut them up into chunks for upload simply because I know that Twitch will NOT keep the vod up for very long. That being said, I often wind up super distracted while editing and missing the point where I was planning on cutting because I'm watching my own stream and got sucked in XD

I find it hard to actually 'enjoy' my own content when watching it back for review, but that's mostly just due to having an abnormally strong dislike of the sound of my own voice. I think a lot of people don't really like to hear themselves talk, but it just gets to me more than most people I know. I do find the antics and shenanigans I get up to amusing and entertaining, though.
In general, though, this was all helpful advice, especially that little pep talk at the end. Very much appreciated, thank you for sharing.

That point at the end is spot on! I HATE the sound of my own voice, but I watch my streams (just as I used to re-listen to my old radio show) to see what works and what needs work. I DO have a feeling my next stream is gonna be good, or at least entertaining - as long as Twitch doesn't block the audio.

I recently reached affiliate and watched this to pick up tips to better myself as I grow because I love your content man, your tips and advice are without doubt one of the reasons I was able to reach affiliate.
After watching this video I am pleasantly surprised to realise that I am doing all of these things already and that is an encouraging epiphany for me.
The value I got from this video was your first point on what types of content there are because my goal has always been to create content that makes people laugh and escapism for whatever trials and tribulations they are going through in their life but I was not sure if that counted as a type of content until this video.
Most importantly though I am someone who has constantly been told throughout my life that I will never achieve my goals because I am fat (true) with frizzy hair (true) and wear glasses (true), so no matter how good I am at content creation I will never make a career out of it. It took time but I have finally realised that all of that stuff should not stop me persuing my dreams and if I make it inspite of that, well then it will just be all the more fulfilling for me. So that is a subtext to my content, I want people to be able to watch me, see my flaws but also see how I do not dwell on them, I do not let them define me and, hopefully in the future, that I achieved my goals inspite of them.
As I said I have just reached affiliate and it goes to show that good content does will out.
I love your work man and can not wait to see more.
