I get what you're saying about baking. I was a baker for our small town elementary school for 6 yrs until i had a car accident that took me out of commission for all most a year. We made everything from scratch from biscuits to hamburger buns and everything in between. I loved the process and knowing when bread felt and sounded right. Chewy cookies and beautiful fresh bread that we used the leftovers for French toast for breakfast. We would hide sweet potatoes in our famous pilgrim rolls and purple plums in our yummy chocolate cake. Even fig nuggest in sugar cookies that tasted like toffee.The only thing I didn't make from scratch was sandwich bread for open face hot beef sandwiches and hot dog buns. Those kids ate good real food not like what is served today.
That’s how I grew up, eating the REAL lunch lady s home cooked meals! Man, that was some good cooking! We joke around here about how they just owned a new hospital they finished building… In the old days, you’d go to the dang hospital cafeteria for some good food! The times have changed. It’s ironic; Now, our kids need it more than ever!
Chef Jeffery my cousin Sadie (RIP) and my Aunts Rebecca and Florence (Both RIP) all made this cake and it was one of my favorites growing up. Your cake reminds me of theirs; moist and delicious. They did flip theirs and use the bottom as the top; no icing or frosting ever went on their pound cakes because it was never needed. I think I'll make this cake for Easter coming up. I use to dons when living in the dee south, even now on the smokies, that the Mimi dirt and westher had something to do with cooking times sounds like an old wives tale, but i found that it did effect cooking times, etc. Oh my goodness ! I miss having those cakes when you get up and have coffee. Want a late night snack with milk… Want a snack to get you through till dinner… What memories! Delicious! I know that taste well. Thank you

WOW. It looks absolutely great.I just love pound cake at room temperature with a hot cup of coffee. Especially for me on cool or cold days.Warm or hot days I love it with cold milk.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ it simply doesn’t get any better than this and here I thought making a pound cake was hard 😊 but anyway cooking, baking and grilling are always 90% trial and error the other is 10 is the recipe but the key is consistency. I accidentally put 1 tsp of vanilla instead of 1 tbsp maybe the icing will help it in that case didn’t have any lemon extract
