My drill bits have been spinning lately , I bent a very nice counter sink bit because of it my drill is about 8 years old so I was thinking new drill time but your Allen key mallet fix has got it to zero thank you
Glad it helped.
Really great video. You taught me a bunch about my drill. Thanks. Saving this video in my favorites.
Glad it helped. Thank you.
Excellent video for us newbie's. Thank you for always explaining these small details in layman's terms.
You’re welcome. Glad it helped.
That didn’t show me how to repair the drill slip
This was very good info. I am taking on more small projects at home. This help me with the slips.
Glad it helped
After years of drill bits slipping in the chuck I finally bought the Milwaukee drill bit kit with the driver ends.It is more expensive, but no more slipping. And you can use these bits in your driver drill.I recommend anyone thinking about buying a new driver drill to get one with variable speed technology. There are 3 speeds in which the driver will perform at.Many times a bit will come off the screw while at a higher speed, but at a slower speed not so much.
Thanks for the great tips.
And when that tip comes off the screw and into your hand. You know you're gonna have a great day!
Great video. And I love it when a pro also shows when things go awry, like they usually do for me. Unlike many other videos that only show best/perfect case scenarios (This Old House)
Right? Glad it helped.
Great Video. I'm trying to unscrew a screw/ The screw is not turning and so I have my drill making tha loud annoying sound. The head of the screw doesn't appear to be stripped.. the screw bit fits fight in nice and snug. What would you suggest for me to get the screw out of my security door expander. The other screw was basically the same thing. I finally got it out 1/4 way and got pliers and pulled it out. Tanks
Hi, you may have to use an easy out kit.

Quick question, my drill bits have scratches on the inside, like they are slipping, turning inside where they go in the chuck. I will tighten it up and see. Is that usually a sign of a chuck coming loose? Sometimes the bit spins, other times the bit does not spin, but the chuck spins fine.
Yes, chuck just can get worn out over time causing the drill bit to slip.
I was having trouble, watched this video, and it nothing worked. Then I realised my drill was in reverse. Doh.
Lol, yup.
Dude i put the hex key in the drill and i tightened the chuck and when i tried to rotate the hex key the chuck start to rotate with hex and there was no resistance
Same thing, idk if im doing something wrong or what
God bless you. This was so helpful.
Glad it helped. Thank you.
Good video. Question: My drill bits are round. What are the type drill bills called that have multiple flat sides on the portion that goes in the chuck? I'm assuming will stop drill bits from coming out of the chuck. Thanks!!
Flat shank drill bits.
Problem is that my drill bit is stuck in the wood but did not break off. The chuck simply started slipping once the drill was deep inside the wood. I tried to remove and re-tighten the drill onto the bit that is protruding but it just keeps slipping. I tried sticking double sided tape on the bit for the chuck to have a better grip but it did nothing. I'm no left with trying to wiggle it out but it hardly moves. It is difficult to get a good grip on it since it's on a vertical timber. Maybe patient wiggling will eventually pull it out.
Put the drill in hammer mode on reverse.
@@Caliber8Tools What if the drill doesn't have a hammer mode?
ive switched to bauer at h. freight, 11$ two year waranty, and just take it back to store if something goes wrong. No mail it back stuff.
Did you you lock the chuck? Look up how to lock a drill chuck. It helps.
Thanks for the tip.
I don't use a drill driver that much. I tried to drill in two pieces of wood and both were 2"×4". I tried to drill in to make a pilot hole and drill bit went smoothly into the woods but when I tried to reverse it to get the drill bit out from the hole and I got stuck so the drill driver couldn't hold on to the drill bit so it always slipped off.
Seems like the chuck loosened its grip.
@@Caliber8Tools thanks, yep I think so too. However it was my fault because I didn't tighten the drill bit enough as I didn't rotate the chuck to fully secure the drill bit. Now I'm able to pull out the drill bit from the wood.. newbies trying to make a keyboard tray as there is no space on the table with two monitors
I have had this same issue with dewalt, porter cable battery powered, and a ryobi electric drill. I drilsl in ok, and try toback out and the bit comes out.
What a nuisance.
I used my drill as a saw... keeps slipping... then I realized it was in reverse... when in reverse the screw holding the chuck tends to loosen and ends up detaching the chuck from the drill... very scared at that time...
Aaah, good point.
Good advice
Glad it helped.
Thanks!
You’re welcome. Glad it helped.
I've broken many, many drill bits. But I don't think I've ever had one bend. Maybe a masonry bit bent once.
Always a first time. Lol. Appreciate the feedback.
Thank you
Glad it helped.
The reversal of the left hand threads is so weird my brain explodes trying to loosen and tighten them.
For sure.
i think its poor chuck design and chuck. Key chucks are better than junk at stores
Good points.
Stop wrong information you need to tie the shock all the way really tie and back up the shock a quarter turn that would lock the bit
Thanks for the tip.
chucks are junk nowdays, poor design on all of em. l do buy expensive guering drill bits from MSC.
Video is useless waste of time. I tighten lousy keyless chuck with my hands and drill slips and sticks in wood pulling drill out. Avoid keyless chuck, looks like good idea, but they stink.
Appreciate the feedback.
What a clown, dude your wrong
