This video is so helpful to me. Lost my husband earlier this year, and I'm slowly learning how to do some of the things he always took care of for me. Thank you for teaching me how to use his cordless drill!
So sorry you lost your companion. Hats off to you for rolling up your sleeves & learning to 'do' for yourself. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. A tiny tip is 'preparation' take time to get it right. As you're watching videos like this with great advice I know you're on the right track.
That’s the best drill demonstration I’ve seen on UA-cam. Clear, concise and to the point. And no shouting or loud music! Great to see a woman doing it too. Subscribed.
Asked my son for a drill for my 65th birthday and this is great. clear concise no shouting or crazy music. Going to have a go now. Thank you. I dont feel so scared of it now.
you are a lifesaver! never used a drill in my life and trying to learn how to be more independent. i was so scared of it. i swear i went through ten videos to finally find a step by step guide for a TRUE novice! thank you so much!
It's a fantastic video for a complete novice. Never used or even looked at a drill before in my life. Husband died last year, shed full of equipment, and I wanted to take a shelf down. After watching video ( couple of times) I had the courage to have a go. Success! Thank You so much.
❤ You’re the only one that actually gave detailed instructions for a complete beginner and I sincerely did appreciate it and I will keep up with your site. Thank you very much and have a good day.
Hi. New here. So grateful you popped up when I searched how to drill holes. Bc I’ve owned a drill for 4 years. Never knew that I needed drill bits. So I know nothing about drilling. Gosh, I feel so overwhelmed. But for the first time, I actually want to decorate new place completely. And really need guidance. My landlord said that we can put nails in the wall. I’m excited. But new to it all.
Thank you so much for this informative video. I am a retired 61 year-old female, and I live alone in a senior living facility, and I do not have anyone to help me to use the drill. Thank you very much for your very clear explanation of how the drill works, and the tools can be used. Im a new subscriber!😊
Thank you so much for this easy to follow video. At 67 and totally on my own,I am ready to try my drill I bought years ago.I ordered a box of drills and won’t start until I practice on wood, and watch your video again. I feel ready to go it alone with pictures, and my cooker visor hood. Thank you Angela
Outstanding video! I'm 66...just moved into a new apartment and have lots of small jobs to do. Bought a great cordless drill/driver...the "instruction" manual consisted of nothing more than lots of warnings! I had no idea what the difference was with the number settings, how to attach a drill bit, how to switch from forward to reverse, etc. And your advice about never drilling next to an outlet was a lifesaver! I was going to hang a cordless magnifying mirror near an outlet in my bathroom and now will re-think that. All in all, just a great video. Thank you so much. Delightful accent of yours, too!
Girl! I would like to THANK YOU for teaching me how to use a drill! I so appreciated all the facets of your instruction, because even though my drill is nothing like yours, you covered so much that I understood how to use mine and no longer fear it. I had searched (and watched) other videos, and NO ONE was as easy to understand or as thorough as you were. I watched your vid, went outside and drilled away like it was nobody's business. Thank you again!!
Thank you. Your explanations are so clear! This was so helpful to me, as I have just moved to a new house on my own and have bought a power tool, to put up some shelves, and have never done it before, so thank you!
I dont actually need a Guide since i used Drills since years but i love what you are doing here. Helping people who dont know how to get started make their first steps. Very understandable and with examples. I thank you in the name of everyone who needed the help!
This has been much more helpful for me than the instructions which came with my Dewalt cordless. I understand same things apply universally on these similar drills but because mine is a DeWalt I found it very helpful. Thank you!!!
Hi Georgina, Just to say a big thank you for your tips on using a drill. I had a lot more confidence a decade or so, but was a bit nervous about doing this sort of thing on my own. Your advice was clear, concise and not 'dumbed down' but included everything I needed to encourage me to have a go. You have just got yourself a new subscriber!
Id seen my dad use one growing up with no clue how to use one except to pull the trigger. Knew nothing about needing different sizes of bits, what a bit was and that you use different ones for different tasks. Now im at least confident enough to try it by drilling a drainage hole in a flower pot. Baby steps lol. Thank you so much for this video!!
Thankyou so much for this video. I've never used a drill before and I was never taught how. This covers all the basics for a beginner like me. Much appreciated 🙏 😊
Thank you so much! I bought a drill to install new curtains, and I was lost with that thing! You solved the enigmas in the first half of your video. I did an excellent job, by the way, as an absolute beginner! Thanks again❤
Thank you so much for this video. I am a guy and I have never used a drill before. Hope to see more videos of yours on how to use a drill on different jobs. Thank you again.
The information on electric and battery powered drills is absalutely fantastic. My drill was delivered today and I am off to find some bits for it! Thanks for posting.
This is an excellent guide. I grew up without a father and never had the chance to learn these things. Recently, I bought a house where I’ll need to take on these tasks, and now I feel ready to get started
It was a well done video. This is a person who should be involved in making these and I greatly appreciate the manner done. Most people I cannot listen to with a lot of repetition and "blah blah."
Thank you so much. I'm a 66 woman, had/have a dad/husband/sons who can do this stuff in their sleep but are rubbish at explaining it. I'm tired of asking my son to do stuff (so is he!) so this was brilliant. The only thing is I bought a Black and Decker Reviva for simplicity but can't work out how to get the bits in and out 🤷♀. I'll read the very limited directions again but I'm so grateful for your clear concise video.
@@JudithCampbell-t3s ah I’m so glad. I just had a search and it seems to be a common question with the b&d drills - sounds like the chuck can be quite stiff to turn! Glad you sorted it and that the video was helpful 😊
I needed a drill and my dad had a spare and gave it to me but I have never used one before. This guide is so clear and helpful, I now know I can get started, thank you so much!
Thank you SO MUCH! I couldn’t figure out how to get the bits to stay in- & learned about the dial at front that makes that happen. I was so frustrated and feeling silly, now I feel empowered. Thanks for lifting people I with your videos!
I watched 5 videos and your is the one that actually helped me understand what are these 3 things stemming from the rotating thing and that you have to (and can) move them in order to put the tool in.
Thank you so much for this video! I never used a drill before and was afraid of making huge holes or injuring myself and now I'm much more confident :)
This video was very helpful. There are some things I want do do around my home. I believe knowing how to handle a few tools will help me to get them done. Thank you for sharing.
Good video. A drill can also be used to stir paint and mix small quantities of materials like plaster, with an appropriate whisk/paddle. Btw, my mate works for the council.
Thank you for this video. Was so clear and concise and it gave me the confidence to purchase a drill and do the DIY I had been putting off for ages. Including drilling through tile in my bathroom. Super helpful!
Thank you for this simple explanation of everything. My ex-husband & my son both work in construction & they do explain it, but I can't always retain it.
After I watched your video I unboxed my new drill and installed 2 window shades. 🎉total time was 3 hours. I was armed with your video to give me guidance. Now I have adequate privacy in my bedroom. Thank you!!!! 🎉
This video is exactly what I needed very well explained. It's gone far to expensive to hire someone to do these jobs so I need to learn to do them for myself. Well done
Yay 🥳 I now feel confident to go buy a drill. Your video presentation is brilliant, thank you. I want to be able to put up shelves etc without waiting for hubby!
Great little video. Divorced female. Able to throw my hand at various DIY tasks now but always avoided drills. With this video. Feel confident to have a go and stop being so scared. THANK YOU 😊
You're the best!! Oh my you can't imagine how much you're helping me as I just got a new drill!! Thank you so much, so helpful, too kinda new at this!!! I love your accent, and so easy to follow your video!😊😅😅
This video is awesome 👌 thank you. I have this exact drill, so was able to follow along precisely and also realised I've been using it incorrectly.🤦🏾♀️ This is going in my diy favs.
THANK U SOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS WONDERFUL TEACHING!!!!!!! I just have a quick question, if the drill can accommodate all drill bits no matter the size then what exactly is the need for the adapters????? THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ANYONE WHO ANSWERS MY QUESTION!😀💯👍
Amazing! Even on a normal one (no battery and no speed options) it worked after a few tries, although I almost burned my hand because it rotated so fast
@kathleenshipley1797 - I think he means to tape the envelope underneath where you are drilling to catch the shavings. Or you could just put something down on the floor under where you’ll be drilling.
This video is so helpful to me. Lost my husband earlier this year, and I'm slowly learning how to do some of the things he always took care of for me. Thank you for teaching me how to use his cordless drill!

Like many comments I’m a widow and need to learn these skills. Thank you for being clear, concise and not patronising! We ladies can do it!

Very helpful! I think I might be ready to use my new drill now! Thanks!
Great video, especially for a beginner. Well done.
I use it to drill bulbs holes for the garden (Sept/Oct time). Quick and efficient - using an Auger bit
My tip is to get an envelope and fold flap over, then bit of tape to hold it in place under where you're drilling. Frees up both hands and no mess 👍
Could you elaborate on this? Tape the screw? Thank you!
@kathleenshipley1797 - I think he means to tape the envelope underneath where you are drilling to catch the shavings. Or you could just put something down on the floor under where you’ll be drilling.
