- In today’s episode I take you down to 200 feet spearfishing in the Bahamas. In the first dive I ride a rock down to 184 feet to hunt in Long Island Bahamas with Luke Maillis. In the second video I dive 202 feet off Eleuthera to a reef no other human has ever seen. In the third video I shoot a hogfish at 164 feet off Long Island Bahamas on a constant weight dive. Unfortunately I run out of line on my reel while surfacing and disaster strikes. Thank you guys so much for watching be sure you hit that like button and are subscribed so you never miss an episode!

That hogfish was nowhere near 164 feet long buddy
Kidding aside this is amazing
Lol thanks buddy!
Brilliant.
bru its 164 ft deep bru
A 164 feet long hogfish would look pretty funny but also more than a bit intimidating 😂
@Andre Baker did it work
“Please do not try that at home” how deep do you think my bathtub is??? Love the vids man! From AK and want to start spear fishing, learning a lot from ur channel! Thanks
Thanks man glad you enjoy them! There is fantastic spear fishing in Alaska!
Right on! I’ll have to give her a go! Would be really cool to see some Alaska clips if you come up!
That’s gotta be one of the deepest (Free-dive) spearfishing ive seen without a tank, it’s just unbelievable you could even do that in the first place! I could got probably 80 feet max
Super underrated channel.
Thanks growing everyday!!!
I nearly have armchair blackouts just watching you dive!! Only found your channel a while back but it became one of my favourites immediately. Love your narration style and your modest character. Cheers.
Thanks Clarky stoked you like them lots more coming!!!
You actually pronounced Eleuthera correctly, I’m Impressed. From there
Thanks love that island!
That clip was great back then and you just made it ever better. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Judah definitely one of my favorite dives ever and favorite places to hunt. Can’t wait to get back there. You should do a trip with Luke when this whole thing slows down you would love it.
I was thinking that same thing. Also, Kelly and I are talking about coming to Kona soon and making some vids with you and Sam.
Super down man would love that!
I’m completely speechless at this... I’ve watched a few of your videos but I had no idea you (or anyone) was capable of spearing at those depths. I’d never want to do it myself (not that I’d be able) but I have to applaud the incredible commitment, skill and dedication to your craft. That totally blew me away 👌🏼🔥
Thanks man these dives are definitely at the edge of what’s possible but with lots of practice anything is possible.
Ryan Myers they are incredible mate but please, please keep safe 🤞🏼👍🏼
LMFAO! Ryan the stories Luke has with you crack me up and scare the hell out of me. Back with him in July for more adventures! Best to you and Sam- Scott G.
So do you just leave a whole bunch of rocks with strings tied onto them on the bottom of the ocean?
Ignoring the polution aspect. In 1000 years scientists are gonna be really perplexed about why their roped rocks on the ocean floor.
the rock is tied to his float i belive. So he pulls it back up. listen to what he say at 4:17
This channel is about to blow up for sure! Amazing editing and content, keep up the awesome work I’ll for sure be tuning in.
Thanks Robbie working hard over here!
Love the safety aspect of your vid bro! sick deep dives too! looking forward to getting notified on the next vids :)
Thanks man stoked you like them. New one out tomorrow!
Could not make em in time I was diving 🤣🤣 grate video keep em up 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Thanks Kannon!!!
What does mouthfill mean for equalization? Is that a technique where you don’t have to equalize with the nose blow?
No mouthful is still frenzel but instead of pulling air from the lungs each time to equalize you store it in the mouth. Really only required below 40 m.
Loved the guys yellow outfit who was on the boat. Plz provide link of where I can purchase. Thnx. 👌🏻
On 4:20 you are talking about "lutra"(?) some kind of snorkeling board, can you show what is this and how it is rigged. Is it equipped with engine? Thanks
Eleuthera? that's the island in the Bahamas where I made this dive. this is a variable weight diving rig that my brother built. no engine. it has a downrigger that holds the weight and I strapped a GPS and battery pack to it. there's a better view of it on my top 5 stone shots video.
@@RyanMyersExpeditions thanks, cool channel you have!
Expensive drop for real ! Love that story haha glad you're good man
Thanks Andre ya that was not a cheap hogfish hope the sharks enjoyed it. Get over there and do a tank on that spot if you guys get a chance I’ve never seen anything like it. Tell everyone I say hi!!!
@@RyanMyersExpeditions hahah send numbers! ;)
Wow... Alien like! Hope you make it down by me one day. Maybe I can pick up a tip or two off of you while I take you to explore those deep ledges we can’t reach! Epic video as always Ryan. Keep it up.
Super down man I love traveling to new places and having the locals take me places that they could never quite get down to. Usually really cool stuff down there.
One of my favorite dives!!
Same
Really enjoying all your videos! Thanks for taking the effort to make them
thanks man glad you're enjoying it
Brah
That’s bananas. I didn’t know that was even possible. I’ve been deep and spent time diving with some apnea divers that were under for like 7 minutes. I thought I seen it all. Brah. You nuts cuz. That’s full blown nuts brah. You get um.
What kind of watch do you use when diving?
Don’t have a watch at the moment but I like the oceanic and Sunnto.
Ugh. Torture. This lockdown can’t end soon enough so we can get out there again and do some more deep dives. Thanks for providing my quarantine fix!
Thanks Johnny can’t wait to have you guest star cooking with Sam!
Quarantine on out door activities is complete nonsense! If you're not going to be around people then it is an okay thing I guess!
Ibrahim Saleh just tell me where to meet the private jet to take me to Hawaii so I can keep my social distancing in the air and I’m in! 🤣
@@originaljunglejohnny Don't be silly you know I meant outdoor activities within your city.
I knowwww
Unbelievable video Ryan!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
The techno music is back! Crazy that that’s what it sounds like when you get that deep. 🤯
We fought over the techno but I won.
what is your avg bottom time when you go spearfishing in Hawaii, going off your videos I'm gonna take a guess at 2 min sitting on bottom looking for a target
Total dive times are usually around 2 mins. Sometimes into the 2:30 if I’m hunting Mu and have a good buddy.
@@RyanMyersExpeditions emphasis on the good buddy who will be there at your side when you hit the surface. Safety first.
Awesome dives. Keep up the good videos. Very inspiring. Cheers from Scotland
glad you like them! will do
Some insane dives there mate 😳 great vid very interesting to watch!
Thanks guys!!!
Sick stuff man but so reckless to be solo dropping that deep... Just asking for trouble.
Agreed these were older dives I try and be a bit more conservative now.
All dives are inherently risky. It's up to the diver to calculate the risk accordingly, and I think Ryan did so competently.
Wow that’s pushing it mate!! Stay safe and thanks for your content
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely legendary footage. Next world champ!
Thanks man. Maybe someday!
Those are some deep drops! Props Ryan.
Thanks Andy!
ive fished the tip at simms bar many times and many times with Luke , he is my mentor for boat fishing there it is awesome to see the bottom there i have often wondered what that bottom looks like because deep drop fishing is all about using your imagination ....looking at sonar but imagining what that actually looks like ....thank you
No worries man I feel the same way always wanted to know what I’m actually seeing on the sounder.
Man! You're a beast! Getting down to 164 on your own, spearing a big one, and running out of line on your way up. I get very nervous (and so mess up a dive) once I cross my comfort depth at 45 ft. Has that ever been something that you have had to deal with and how do you manage to stay calm? 🙌🙌🙌
Lots of practice. Takes tons of deeper Freedives without spears to be able to be comfy with a dive like this.
@@RyanMyersExpeditionscan you do a video explaining training techniques to get breath holds to get to 100’? Would love to start training for this.
Hey Ryan, do you think it is dangerous to do the weight diving in depths you are already comfortable with?
Good question! I was thinking the same thing... Maybe use the weight/anchor for my float? I'm *maxing* out at 80ft, but the work to get to 60+ doesn't leave me with much bottom time.
I'm not Ryan, but i do think that variable weight should be used as a safe way improve bottom time and not to reaching depper. In this vídeo in particular he was training to Grecce where deepth is required.
Pedro Santo thats what I was thinking, would help me on some fish that take a little more bottom time to make draw them in, like cuberas
do you have to ascend slowly the avoid the bends? it doesnt look like you did and i have no diving knowledge
nope, bends comes from length of time at depth. in reality I'm there for less than a minute. if I do these dives over and over and over again then I'm at risk of getting bent
Not true, depth only applies if breathing more air as in scuba, breathe hold diving you can't get bent only possible shallow water blackout. Learn the facts and the physics. I know I am an old time, NAUI Scuba instructor # 2906,
why do other people click thumbs down? coz they can't reach that depth? tsk! just be happy and proud they can do it! love your vids! cheers!!
People are crazy. Thanks so much for the support!!!
You’re an animal! Diving and being able to compete with the Greeks is an accomplishment in itself. To answer your question, hell no! Diving at depth still freaks me out. 85 ft. Is about my max, I always psych myself- kudos to those who do it. I’ll pick up my rod for that 🤣
Gotta keep pushing it girl! When you visit we will push you a bit out of your comfort zone.
Another great video!! Thanks for showing your breathing techniques before and after each dive. Would love to see you explain and show those in more detail.
Thanks Clifford one of the next videos will tackle breathing techniques for sure!
Great video once again Ryan. U should come to the USVI one day so we can do some diving man. 👍🐟🎯
Thanks Austin I’d love that I think spearing is illegal out there though.
Naw bruh we spearfish out here all the time, it’s only illegal on National Park waters and on certain fish at certain times of the year. Check out our channel Legacy 340 Spearfishing!!
164 ft is nuts bro. Many people won't scuba that far. I've been narced off my ass in about 180 on scuba. Could only speculate what it would be like with a breath hold. Maybe 80 to 90ft is the max I've dove. And I wasn't even comfortable with that. You have some big ass balls man that is deep.
I just started watching spear fishing and am curious about how you guys hold your breath for so long underwater? Do you guys have some type of air tank or something?
No air tank just lots of practice.
Yeah we have a built in air tank in our chest cavity, it's called lungs! 😂
Thanks for the answers guys.
I'm really glad I discovered your channel. I can't believe I didn't know about you or Justin Lee before this. And, don't worry, I won't try this at home.
Thanks Matt stoked for the support new video up tomorrow!!!
Hey ryan I really like your video about spearfishing.I would like to see you here fishing in Philippines
Same. One of these days.
Hey Ryan, what dive watch do you prefer? I would like one that tells me how deep I am
Great video. Sorry about your equipment, that must have sucked.
Really interesting variable weight footage. Never seen that before.
Ya the variable system isn’t super common but a lot of fun. I’ll do some more variable videos soon.
Great video. This is awesome. I'm maxing at 80ft. You are next level.
Damn this is super cool. I cant wait to start diving and eventually going big, hopefully.
Thanks man get after it!
What training did you do to be able to go that deep
This channel deserves much more subscribers ❤️👌
Can you make a video on how you hold your breath for so long and how to equalise your ears when going down so deep?
Ya man coming up!
This is probably a dumb question but I don’t spear fish, but do you hold your breathe the entire time
😂
How deep do you dive JT?
Ya for freediving we hold our breath the entire time.
Ryan Myers 164 inches
Ryan Myers ...if only i had a better instructor
Ryan what sort of mask do you wear when diving that deep? I have a reasonably low profile mask but find by the time I get down 80', I have let so much air into the mask I have none left to go lower.
Damm man i think you have gills lol.. Your my Best ever inspiration man in spearfishing ryan myers😊😊😊
Thanks Gabby wish I had some gills!
RYAN YOU ROCK BRUH!
164 ft on scuba. How long was your decompression?
Holding my breath no tank no decompression.
Nothing I used to do standard air with 80 cu ft tanks to 325 ft commercial diving on hawaii island hawaii. Bottom time 25 minutes ledge stop at 100 ft on the way up and then up into the boat. Spent 14 days starting at 292 ft sea water decompression chamber at queens medical center after being bent and airlifted to Oahu. All verifiable.
@@RyanMyersExpeditions you said you and a buddy with scuba went back and tried to find your gear but didn't find it. On scuba @ 130 ft you have a bottom time of like 6 min . more than that and you have to decompress.
Ahh gotcha not sure I followed an instructor and just did whatever he said as I’m not really qualified to go that deep. It was super short though only a few minutes looking for the gear and then back up.
@@VirgilHiggins-ju9ey I used to dive with crazy guys like you...lol they would go down to 300 ft looking for shells. First decompression stop was at 60 ft. Glad you made it through without any problems. I never dove Hawaii but I did dive in the Philippines. 500 hours underwater time. PADI certified divemaster.
Absolutly insane. Saw a pic of Justin Lee talking about a grouper he shot in greece in 59m.. Considering adding any more footage about that ridículous tournament?
Ya we have a massive amount of footage from Greece but gotta soft through it and mane a video. It will definitely happen but not sure how soon.
How do you train to hold your breath for that long?
Lots of diving. Best practice for diving is diving.
Are you taking a standard gopro housing to these depths? Good looks man, can't beat that blue color at depth!
GoPro with the dive housing yep! Thanks for watching
So crazy, can't imagine how it feels down there... 😮😮
Like you are being stepped on by an elephant!
Warm just how you like it
Insane dives Ryan
Thanks man definitely some crazy times.
Ryan Myers foolish
What a hog. Does your buddy still do charters in Long Island. I would love to set one up
Very beautiful footage! Fan from Serbia❤️
thank you for watching!
Have u fished Nicaragua?
Yes a little bit. I have a UA-cam video about it
@@RyanMyersExpeditions ah sick ok i just seen it. U were north by the boom. Well if you ever come back lmk and I would be stoked to those you and go do alot of fishing. We have some sick spots here where we r located. Thanks for the vids. Epic
Host you***
You're a beast of a diver. I recently found your channel and love the content. Congratulations!!
how long can you hold ur breath?
How does he go down without doing the nose thing? Doesn't his ears start hurting?
Frenzel maneuver

We’ve gotta start getting to deeper depths over here. Our max spearing depth is at 85ft current, but we have some amazing spots right at 100ft that we’re dying to hit. Love the video man! I see the tank is still there! You got plans for it?
Once you can hunt that 80-100 foot range sooo much good stuff opens up around the world. Not usually any super benefit to going much deeper but that section is super productive. Also super dangerous. Push it slowly with good people and good conditions.
Ryan Myers definitely! We’re consistently hitting coops at 85ft right now, pulling trigger and 25in plus mangrove snapper off them. But, our group also had its first SHB trying to get a mangrove out of one of those coops, so we’ve become very safety conscious. The guy that blacked out had only hit 66ft, and never went any deeper. He decided to help us try to get that mangrove out and hit 85ft laying on the coop trying to work the fish out for 15 seconds.... needless to say, his body was not ready for that jump in depth 😅
Please don't say dying.
Dre Red *anxious to hit 😅
I'd really like to learn how to do this how did you learn and what do u recommend me do?
Find someone to teach you. Maybe start with a freediving class. A lot of us learned when we were young with a three prong.
Cool videos Ryan. What is your setup for filming and audio topside?
Thanks man. I use a GoPro 7 with a mic attachment
Nice. All about that consistency and just doing it. Keep it up. Do you live Kona side?
Ya man living kona side for a little bit.
Well I can hold my breath for that long, but under those conditions well that’s the difference. How does your chest feel at those depths? Do you feel the air getting pushed out with pressure?
How do your ears not explode? Do you train them somehow, earplugs?
Ya gotta practice a lot and equalize them properly and then no problems.
Man, this is some smooth thinking. My buddy had to drop his weight belt in Jacob's Well, I think, in Austin Texas after it getting stuck on something. Im not sure the whole story but yeah
Hard times during coronavirus but glad to see you are okay
All good out here in Hawaii.
what is an equilizer
In Australia, at 60m depth on structure and in tropical water like that I reckon you're likely to find fish. Though I would sound it pretty hard before I tried haha. Loved this version with the other deep dives more than the previous. Amazing vid mate 👌🏻
Thanks man ya pretty sure there should just always be fish at 60 m. Going to try and get a fish at 60 out here in Hawaii soon.
Love your vids but it sucks you didn't get the Hog. There are great eating fish here in the Bahamas. Hopefully I'll see him one day if the sharks didn't get him.👍🤟👍🤟👍
deans blue hole is a sick place. I got to go there last year. amazing
Great video! Looking forward to get some tips on how to breathe up and more
coming soon thanks for watching
Awesome video! Just subscribed!
You got big wevos vato😳 🤙👊

Were you targeting Black Snapper when you shot the hog?
BTW Awesome dives 🍻
Not on this exact dive but always looking for them when we are deep in the Bahamas.
I wish I could get down there, I just need to keep training
Champion 😍
Thanks Mohmad!
Crazy dives 👍👏

Wow, like, cool, awesome, legendary, & other algorithm enticing keywords!

Thanks man really appreciate it!!
Great video
Thanks man!!!
How did you get the thumbnail
Different hogfish.
Have you ever thought about spearfishing in Italy
Ya was headed there for the world championship but unfortunately it’s now canceled.
There’s still plenty of fish to be found out there.
cool vode ryan as always
