@@ChowYunChubby I know it's a joke but I really don't get it so I'm gonna say... yeah he really is. I heard it took him 8 months to learn "bleed."I honestly think hes one of the best metal drummers is the world right. I'm waiting for the r/whooosh.
I'm glad you mentioned the drummer - I think he's one of the best in metal. He's very understated, and so incredibly tight - when I saw them live he nailed every song perfectly. Not a beat out of place, not a time signature messed up. Not a single mis-hit or sloppy beat, I was mesmerized!
The whole Magma album is awesome! I was blown away at how well it was put together. There aren’t many new albums put out since 2010 or so that I loved every song on the album. The time signatures and polyrhythms on Pray and Low Lands are awesome. In one of the interviews they did they talked about how hard it was to keep in time with each other.
You're one of those channels that's just so wholesome man. Like, I'd love to spend a day sharing/discussing music and jammin' out with some dude I don't even know because that's the sort of sit-on-a-couch-and-chill-with-a-buddy vibe you put out. This is how react videos should feel. I love Gojira! I hope you check more of them out on your own time, too. Vacuity is just relentless, especially on the drums. The first song I heard by them, got me hooked! A Sight to Behold just hits me in the heart every time. Who knew it was possible to headbang while sad? Born in Winter is the one I hope you check out the most. Definitely a dark, groovy vibe, but it builds.
You could listen to all of Gojira’s work and have a different reaction each time. They’re one of the few metal bands that never repeat themselves, stay fresh, but stay true to who they are. Love their work.
You can tell he's heard this song before by his change in head-banging at 2:17-2:20, it matches the transition perfectly. Also he "reacts" to a lot of songs that Lost in Vegas does and the videos always come out after theirs, never before. Not only that but everything he says matches exactly what they said about the song.
Seeing Gojira live was too amazing for words...they're just at an elite level of metal that bands aspire to. When I listen to them, some of their songs actually bring me to tears. Of course, I'm a sentimental old lady. The drum solo in 'Pray' is my ringtone. You should check that song out just for that alone. For a reaction though, definitely do Where Dragons Dwell or Only Pain. Love the vids, kiddo ;)
You reaaally need to go to one of their concerts. They are easily one of the BEST LIVE BANDS out there. Their chemistry is un-fucking-believable! You can feel that they really love what they're doing, their passion. We need more artists like them!
Some trivia about the video: it was recorded in their late mother's studio and the protagonist is their cousin. Their mother was an artist and a major influence in both Joe and Mario, hence their big sense of loss when she died. The name of the album, Magma, is a tribute to their mother's roots: she was born in the USA but her parents were emigrants from the portugues Azores Islands, which are volcanic islands. One time she went to France on vacations, she met a french artist and never left France ever again. Mario is also a painter. : )
Eeeeyyyy, you wore the contacts! \m/ Thanks, man. Nice reaction. I haven't listened to as much Gojira as I should, but ever since hearing their first song [L'Enfant Sauvage for me], and cemented further after hearing a couple others, I knew already; they're an awesome group. I should listen to more of them. ... And the 50 million other bands I'm casually neglecting. lmaao. rip. orz
Thank you so much for taking the time to research these songs. Helps you to really get an appreciation for the music and what its about. Great song btw. I'm a Gojira fan now.
Just started watching, love seeing you find the beautiful intensity and talent of Gojira! Check out: L'Enfant Sauvage Toxic Garbage Island (live) The Shooting Star (a song about their mom dying, very different but absolutely amazing and filled with emotion)
Gojira - "Only Pain" from the same album as this song ("Magma"). Also the title track of their fifth album "L'Enfant Sauvage" is really good. "The art of dying" is a masterpiece, so I recommend checking that out as well. Gojira is my favourite band by a mile at the moment. They're just so unique and......You know the rest.
I feel like this is one of your most genuine reactions. None that your other reactions arent genuine. You just looked so engulfed in this one. And rightly so, this band and song are incredible. Cheers
The transitioning in this song is so smooth and seamless while maintaining it's aggression its amazing. There are literally 3 different songs melded into one banger of a fucking tune.
Mario's drum fills on this are amazing. The guitar riffs are nice, heavy and clean. The vocals are stellar. And lets not forget that fat bass line. Really, really great song.
L'enfant sauvage from gojira is amazing as well. It is hard to pick songs from them as they are very consistent in terms of the quality of their craft.
Lowlands is another really emotional song. The entire Magma album was dedicated to their mom passing, so there's quite a bit of sadness you can feel coming off the songs. My favorite Gojira is probably off The Way of All Flesh -- you should check out Oroborus or Toxic Garbage Island. No sadness in there, but still a very unusual message that you don't normally hear in any kind of music (about the Earth and how we're f&&&ing it up).
Loved that you did a live reaction to "Heaviest matter of the universe". Their newest album is not really my taste too many repetitions in a song but silvera is also great. Going for the older, "harder stuff" Oroborus , Backbone , toxic garbage island , the art of dying, the gift of guilt, explosia, L'Enfant Sauvage ,... there is so much you could make a series out f it . Keep up the good work love your channel even though you have a long way to go to experience more metal... there is so much we will show you ;-).
