As promised, here is the full version of Part 1.
Sorry for the first five minutes, but the original video is in real bad shape, so bear with it. I had to put some pictures to avoid the stroboscope effect !
Since I’ve never seen a reasonable automatically generated subtitle, I have transcribed the dialogue in what I think is a very accurate way (at least I hope so), although some questions were inaudible. I also added extra info along the way for the younger generations to make more research and listening.
Over 60 languages for the subtitles are available! Hit C for subtitles and choose language or check

Man, I cannot express how grateful I am for watching this. Thanks a lot for taking the time to make this video. Jaco lives.
Thank you for the nice comment. He sure does!
What a legend. Absolute musical genius.
Yes, and gone too soon. Thank you for watching!
Happy birthday jaco
Thank you for watching!
That was Jeff Berlin! Wow! Look how young he is. He must have been a student of Music Institute of Technology. Another favorite, who prefers fretted fretboards to fretless.
Jeff was actually teaching there at the time and was already an incredible musician.
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for this!
I need to watch it over and over again.
You're welcome ! Thanks for watching it over and over again ! lol
I always wondered how Jaco spoke. If he was well-read in his vocabulary, or street slang. I'm happy to say these videos answer questions..Thx u!
Thank you for watching! I’m glad my videos answered your question!
Watch his bass instructional video, as he speaks at length about bass technique. Called “Modern Electric Bass”. There was also a super documentary made (FINALLY! Thank you Robert Trujillo & Pastorius family!) simply titled “Jaco: The Film” 👍🏼👍🏼
@@rastapastrychief Thanks for the comment! I've known the Modern Electric Bass video since it was released: a treasure in itself hosted by Jerry Jemmott, one of Jaco's master influences.
And yes, thanks to Robert Trujillo for his documentary, although some comments about Jaco's clinic at Musicians Institute are kind of hazy, but hey, there you have it, the full clinic in 6 episodes: chronologically, Hidden Treasures Jaco Pastorius (this one), then #2, #3, #4, #5. Enjoy!
Oh and check out my friend REALCUT's documentary The Lost Tapes ua-cam.com/video/TviJ3ccaSXM/v-deo.html, a must see!
Thanks for watching!
What a gem of a Q & A. Thank You for Sharing!

Thanks for the comment. Nice to see the subtitling wasn't in vain!
Jaco is an amazing musician and a human. I've played bass for over 2 decades and just now discovered him thanks to the internet.
Can anyone tell me did they catch the person who caused his demise..also he gives me SRV vibes...anyone else see or feel that ?
Rest easy , Jaco
Hi Chris, thanks for the comment. No idea about what happened to the guy in question. I don't feel the STV signs myself, but I'm not a doctor... Thanks for watching!
You've been playing Bass for 20yrs and you've only just now discovered Jaco ? how is that possible ? They caught the guy and he only served around 6yrs jail time. Whats srv ?
@@TheConduit10 Thanks for the info about the guy who beat up Jaco. Around 6 years, what a shame!
It was 6 months
@@jeremeywelling2245They should have put that murderer away for life.
This is a gem, thanks a lot for posting it! Jaco said something about an album with Stanley Clarke.. does that actually exist somewhere?
Thank you for the comment and for watching! Check out this 1mn video for the answer to your question.

@@patrickbuchmann-sdinganuff Wow, so this is real! Hope he's gonna realize it at some point. Thanks for taking the time to answer
Imagine if he played bass with The Doors. He and Jim Morrison would have made some great music if they didn't kill each other first. Artists on a whole different plane than just about everyone else.
An interesting band indeed! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
10.00 Funky broadway i like that
Glad you like that! Thanks for watching!
Jaco on a Jaydee Supernatural?! never saw that before. Was it his or a borrowed bass?
Hello @pjmuck, thanks for watching! Jaco didn't have his equipment that day and the clinic was a last minute thing. Students borrowed him this Jay Dee and later a fretless Jazz Bass to play with Jeff Berlin (check out Episode 5 of my Hidden Treasures Jaco Series.
