The students asked thoughtful questions. They all had the same answers: practice, have courage and conviction. It is interesting to hear Jaco talk about challenges (chromatic fantasy 10 years) and failures (arpeggios). It’s funny how much progress one can make by acknowledging-from the start-the difficulty of what is being attempted and the level of effort required. Beautiful to see Jaco well.
This was such a beautiful insight man! I'm relatively new to Jaco, only the past 5 out of the 21 years of my professional music career (I'll be 30 this year and he's completely taken the #1 spot of fav bassist) and it's so dope to hear his mindset on those concepts and approaches! Thank you for preserving these!!
My friend Bravo once again for the upload...you dont know how important are all these super rare videos with Jaco for everyone to see the Genius of Jaco....keep on
@@jorgekarkalius Last name and checking your UA-cam channel (and subscribing). Greek subtitles are on. Please tell me if they make sense, just curious. I 've made the cleanest possible English ones, so UA-cam's automatic translator can work properly (I hope).
Great video; thanks for putting this out! I love what he said about writing arrangements and/or composing without your instrument. Jaco was the complete musician.❤
I was doing PIT at the time, the drumming course, what a day this was! To be able to hear, see and witness my idol and his thoughts and ideas. He was one of a kind.
@@patrickbuchmann-sdinganuff Did you know he just walked into the school without being invited or him calling beforehand? They told him he could do a workshop there and pay him for it so he decided to stay. He had no bass with him so the one used was lent to him by a French student who totally idolized him and could play all of his recorded stuff.
@@patrickbuchmann-sdinganuff Oh sure, they invited him all the time, but that day he just showed up. BTW, I did not like the way Jeff Berlin behaved that day, like he wanted to compete with Jaco (as if he was even qualified to shine his shoes!), trying to outplay him. It created a bit of discomfort and cringe with us students.
Merci beaucoup pour ce partage..!! La mention Jaco and Stanley Clarke me fait tellement rêver..!! Il y’a une photo d’eux sur Google Images, sur une scène… Je me demande si un jour, on aura un extrait ! Bien de choses à vous !
I am working on a little video about how to find the right subtitles/languages on computer and smartphone. You will have all the answers. I have been thinking about doing it for a while, and your comment boosted me to do it right away. I'm putting the finishing touches to it. Keep me informed. Should be online next thursday!

Thank you for watching and for this great comment! I sure like his smiles and the way he's getting more and more comfortable with the Q&A "exercise"!

Jaco is genius. No doubt. But what we witness here is deep musical insight and ... hard hard work.
This is a treasure. 🏆❤️🎵

It's clearly bugging Jaco as much as it is me .....

Totally random but i never heard him speak before and can’t believe how much he sounds like Joe Biden. I know it’s wierd.
Maybe JB is a good bass player! Thanks for watching!
I'm sure he plays bass about as well as he runs the country. I'm sorry it was just hanging there for someone to something lol. >]✌️
