RIP Michael Hutchence. 25 years ago today. So many great songs: Need You Tonight, Suicide Blonde, Beautiful Girl, Deliver Me, Mystify, The Strangest Party, Elegantly Wasted, The Gift, Taste It, Please (You Got That), Baby Don't Cry...
Fitting song to react to. Today marks 25 years since the passing of Michael Hutchence (22/11/1997). Time fly's by but his music will always live on. Nice one
So great to see INXS here, I hope you do more. One of Australia's greatest exports. Michael Hutchence was one of the most charismatic, magnetic performers ever.
INXS were extremely popular during the late 80's and had many hit songs. "New Sensation" is probably my favorite fast rocking song from them. Their music is good-time fun.
Ladies; best band i ever saw live & i have seen plenty. You are in for untold joy listening to their back catalogue. Whatever you decide to review, try & catch the live version...
What a great band ... collectively a super creative unit who produced some of the most innovative sounds as we headed out of the 80s.. I have total respect for everyone in the group, but still, having one of the most charismatic front men of all time meant that when Michael died, so did INXS. RIP Michael 💕
Recalling dancing with my friend on top of tables when I had one too many in my youth 😆 to this one song ...ty for reacting to it...its so lovely that yall look alike so much...
Michael Hutchence was the sexiest front man and best lead Vocalist that has ever lived. Check out live at Wembley Stadium 1991. The greatest concert ever. INXS Aussie legends.
One of the greatest voice ever, for me. Clear, powerful, touching. Well... a sexy voice as well if one of the most beautiful women on Earth I've ever seen, Helena Christensen, fell in love with him. No doubt his voice was what made her fall for him, right? A lot of us, for many different reasons, really miss him a lot still today.
Thanks again - I have a suggestion if you do another INXS - "Don't Change". People forget about that one, then they hear it again one day and they love it.
I was sitting in a hotel reception in Rome on a gloomy and rainy day, killing time by watching VideoMusic... And this song came on! It may be an old one now, but it still sounds NEW and SENSATIONAL ! PERIOD.
This song was HUGE!! You should check out their live performances. INXS are best watched LIVE! Michael is such a performer and oozes charisma and sexy!!
Yes! Most lead singers of this era were tenors but Michael was a baritone, which was kind of unique. He didn't know what a great singer he was. Charismatic, beautiful, pure magic.
Come on mom, if you ever turned on MTV in the eighties at any time you had to have caught this or any other INXS song. This has been used in commercials, if I'm not mistaken.
You should really watch the performing “Suicide Blonde” at Wembley. The stage presence of MH and the overall performance of the band is something to behold. By the way the sax in pop Songs were quite common in the 80’s Bands like Wham, Spandau ballet, Madness, Eurythmics, Sade, Duran Duran and several others all had big hits where a sax was featured
According to Songfacts, "INXS guitarist/horn player Kirk Pengilly played the saxophone part, and yes, Michael Hutchence yells "trumpet!" just before it plays. This was an in-joke: The group's other guitarist, Tim Farriss, wanted to play trumpet on the track, but Pengilly overruled him and got his sax solo."
Ladies Right after sad and sudden death of Michael Hutchence 25 years ago, INXS tried to go on with another singer. They had guest singers for their tours. In 2005, band participated reality show called Rock Star: INXS in searching for new permanent singer. They selected singer named JD Fortune. JD stayed with INXS until 2011. INXS stopped touring in 2012.
Michael Hutchence was a genuinely great singer, made the cadence and timing look and feel effortless, almost conversational. He's also loud though, which gives that conversational type of cadence a completely different feel and impact. He's also loud without strain or effort so that his singing feels intimate (like a conversation) but impactful. He had an immense gift. We were lucky to have him around.
One thing you need to know about Michael Hutchence is that he LOVED ladies. Not just in the obvious way but he loved their company and friendship as well. He was also very much a sensualist and when he was attacked and lost his sense of smell and taste - those closest to him say he was never really the same...
Surprised you haven't heard of INXS, given they were the BIGGEST band in the world in 1988, especially in USA where they went to No 1 and Sold Out across the country. If the young lady wasn't born then, I'm sure the other lady was... : ) 🇦🇺
So glad you both enjoyed it like the dancing in seat ,,, but if you like INXS you have to see their live videos ... they were a true band that toured and did their best work live they were very popular in late 70's and 80's early 90's ,,, loved seeing them on MTV always stop to watch them ,,, Michael there is only one of him God broke the Rock band frontman mold after he made Michael boy I miss this band
Great reaction! An absolutely superb band with 12 albums worth of material for you to peruse, one of my favourite live acts too check out their 1991 Wembley stadium gig. Please keep looking into INXS, too many great tracks to list here, but some favourites are - 'The Stairs' 'Don't Change' 'Original Sin' 'This Time' and 'What You Need'

G'day from down Under ❤️ Loving your discovery of INXS ❤️ to completely appreciate them you need to experience INXS Live! Wembley stadium in 1991 would be perfect, any song is brilliant, I would recommend What You Need ❤️ thanks ladies!
INXS is my time WoooHooo!!! My "boy bands" in my teens/twenties were: The Police, U2, Duran Duran, INXS, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys!!! THE BEST TIME WOOOO!!! I actually met Michael Hutchence when I had lived in Sydney Australia for a couple of years. It was their National Holiday, on a sunny, hot summer day on a ferry going from Sydney Harbour to Manly Island, and I just happened to decide to take a seat on the top section to enjoy the weather. Lo and behold Michael Hutchence and Helena Christensen came and sat next to me. Normal people. No fuss, no fans swarming, and we just talked for about 20 mins or so last part of the ferry ride until it was time to disembark. Really cool guy. One of my many fond memories from my time in Australia. In Australia (like in Canada) generally our "talent" are treated just like normal every day folks in society. You won't normally see fans chasing them down the street or anything like that. Example: When Justin Bieber is home, you will see him and his wife just walking around downtown in my city, going for dinner, going to a hockey game... no big deal.. just like everyone else. Same with Drake or so many of our "talent" in my city. It really is no big deal because they're people first. And yes, when you first see a "talent" you may get internal butterfly excited but then it's more like "yeah..... ok..." and move on.
My friends and I walked into an empty pub in 1979 and saw a band playing their little hearts out to empty chairs. My friend shouted ''don't give up your day jobs'' and we all walked away in a big cackle. I'm sure I would have forgotten that night if that band weren't called INXS and would end up a global success. And here I was squinting my eyes reading the name on the kick drum and pronouncing ''inks.. they call themselves INKS''... Hope you explore more of this band.
I agree w/one of the commenters. I don't know how old the mom is, but I was 15 when this song was a hit in the summer of 1988. I had the album, Kick, and saw them in concert. The spent an entire year in the American Top 40 from Nov 1987 - Nov 1988 w/two songs in the top 40 at the same time. They were constantly on MTV and in Rolling Stone Magazine. Unless you were a hair metal fan, I don't see how you could've missed them?! They had two major hits in the 1990s, Suicide Blonde and Disappear. Well, I lived in a major midwestern city so, they were constantly on the radio, and I had MTV. Maybe that explains it?!
The album that this song was on ("Kick") was total fire. Almost every song on the album was a radio hit. Sadly, Charismatic frontman Michael Hutchence took his own life about 10 years after this album was released.
Another great reaction, ladies 👍.. Love the top, Mamma Gap ! .. Great to see all the love you've been giving lately to artists from my country of Australia ( eg, The Seekers, INXS, John Farnham etc ) .. Michael Hutchence, the lead singer here was extremely charismatic .. Great voice and great frontman .. Cheers, Wayne
Sadly INXS singer Michael Hutchence passed away in November 1997 same year they released thier 10th album from suicide at the young age of 37. He had left behind his first and only child only a few months old named Heavenly Hirani Tiger Lilly Hutchence. In 2005 INXS did a TV show called Rockstar INXS looking for a new lead singer. In 2005 they released one more album with thier new singer.
Wanna see their versatility? Time from the early 90s(hard driving rock) and other work Suicide Blonde, Strangest Party: These are the Times and a banned video from MTV, Taste It
INXS were pretty popular in the US for an Aussie band at the time, so you may have even heard their songs on tv ads, on the radio etc and just not realized it.
So, just wondering if you've ever heard of this singer named BARBRA STREISAND, I hear she's pretty good. You can do one of two things, give the Bee Gees a well deserved break, or react to Barry's duets with BARBRA if you can't let go or get enough. Their duets are GUILTY and WHAT KIND OF FOOL. Again, her name is BARBRA STREISAND. THANKS!!!
The orchestral intro is only on the video version. the 80s were a great time for Australian music. Rocks bands that had formed and developed in the 70s had major success with their 3rd or fourth album onwards. Most of them were performing in Aussie pubs and gaining huge followings.
INXS came on the scene pretty hot, got to the charts top fairly quickly, and got real popular fast, they just weren't around long enough before the lead singer killed himself by accident. Couple years later almost nobody knew who they were, music if nothing else is fast Evolving.🙁 Horns be alive with Ska Bands
