Reading Bono of U2’s biography, he says of his friend Michael Hutchence, he “was a proper rock star”….”he was extremely masculine and extremely feminine.”….”he could live large but travel light”

I went to a concert in 1983 to see Men at Work in a smaller (10,000 seat) venue. We had no idea who "INXS", the opening act, was! They did have a hit already with "Don't Change" but weren't really well known. They totally rocked and, needless to say, it wasn't long before they completely blew up! "Don't Change" would make a great reaction, Biss!

Saw them a few times in the 90s, and actually met Michael Hutchence a couple of times. I was part of a fan-composed “lighting crew” on stage for a song during the Full Moon Dirty Hearts tour. He was such a shy, sweet man when we chatted backstage, in stark contrast to the audacious swagger he exhibited onstage.
On this song in particular, he’s got this way of tricking you into not realizing he’s singing as high as he actually is, especially considering he’s a natural baritone. He hits an A on the “love, baby, love” line at the end, but his voice is so rich and thick it feels like he’s still in his lower register. Bono of U2 said he had one of the best voices he’s ever heard. And if you saw them live, in person, you saw it on full display. Amazing

I saw this tour at Madison Square Garden in NYC. I was and still, always and forever will be a huge INXS fan and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to witness this show. There's a reason this band was known for being one of the greatest live acts of the day. Looking back at this show, I would go as far as to say they were one of the greatest live acts EVER. PLEASE do more from this performance. Suicide Blonde, What You Need, Original Sin, Lately, Bitter Tears. I mean, you really cannot make a poor choice. Heads up, be careful if you choose the live version of Never Tear Us Apart. One of them is an album dub of the live performance. Only one is truly live.

Hello Bisscute, what an incredible testimony you have presented to us, of this great interpretation of New Sensation. Furthermore, it is impressive that someone with that great voice, that interpretive ability, with that charisma, sensuality and enigmatic personality, ended his days in such a sad way, which began when he hit his head against the pavement in a street fight, causing him a fissure in the skull, among other damages, which apparently was the origin of a change in his personality, which added to his consumption of cocaine, alcohol, heroin and antidepressants, led him to have a progressive deterioration in his behavior, until day of his suicide in his hotel room. The INXS group was no longer the same and ended up dissolving in 2012 after 35 years of activity. Both the great performance and the title of the song itself, New Sensation, undoubtedly portray the hedonistic philosophy of the unforgettable Michael Hutchence, but he and INXS will survive his great work, for the pleasure of us all. I suggest for a future reaction to the group Fleetwood Mac performing Dreams. Greetings and a big hug from Mexico City.

Try another aussie band’s final live performance of These Days. It’s beautiful.
If you love the saxophone, try Gerry Rafferty’s ‘Baker Street’ - there is no rock song that has a more beautiful use of the sax, inxs - never tear us apart, and of course Roxy Music’s use of the saxaphone in Lets Stick Together.
One of the secrets of Michael Hutchence’s great live performances was that he was extremely short-sighted. So he used to take his glasses off and not wear contact lenses. As a result he couldnt see the audience and they didn’t make him nervous. There is a great documentary about him and from memory one of his parents shared that story.

    Bisscute Hi!
If you love saxophones, since you've been reacting to Eurythmics, and you liked Dave Stewart guitar playing, I think you gonna like " Lily was here", it's a instrumental piece,a dueto : Stewart in guitar and Candy Dulfer ,a very talented female saxophonist.
I don't know if it's material for your channel, but for sure it's for you to enjoy .
    Don't miss it !!
    Yes, there's a live version😊

If you love the sax, I recommend you check out any of the GUNSHIP songs featuring Tim Cappello (yes, the sax player from that beach scene in The Lost Boys) like "Dark All Day" or "Monster in Paradise". Synthwave + sax = awesomeness.

My dad used to be in a band that covered this song. He's from a jazz and prog background and he hated playing it. It was always so fun to watch him behind a keyboard trying to keep his eyes from rolling back in his head when this was going on. He just wanted to do Jethro Tull covers.

Sadly Michael Hutchence died in 1997 self inflicted. He was sucker punched during an altercation with a bicyclist and fell and hit his head. He was never the same after that. RIP

@@stefankrautz9048 his tv star wife was in a bitter custody battle with her ex husband, Bob Geldof. That night Hutchence pleaded with Geldof to see the kids but was turned down. Hutchence was very distraught.

A "self-inflicted" sucker punch.... left him deceased? C'mon man.....
It's bad enough these kind of videos further the lie that people cared about INX in the 80s+90s. But, a self-inflicted sucker punch.....
I gotta say, having grown up in the 70s/80s/90s... your self-inflicted cause of death is more believable, though.

Michael Hutchence was a great performer - even in that awful plastic mac thing he's wearing here! 😅And the old Wembley Stadium was a fantastic venue. Clips like this remind you it was like another band member in the best concerts - the way it added so much to the atmosphere!
"New Sensation" wasn't one of my favourite InXS songs, but it was probably their most internationally famous and it's a classic which is guaranteed to get people moving.

    Recommendation, Suicide Blonde.
The star on his (Micheal) back pocket is taken from an INXS logo, the star located between the N and the X.
The keyboardist is Andrew Farriss, the primary songwriter. He did most of the music, Michael most of the lyrics. Andrew still writes and performs although mostly Australian Country music.
