I met Colter after a show in Munich Germany. I went with a buddy of mine after work and drove straight to the show. We were fortunate enough to catch the end of Belle Plain and Blake Berglund's set. We watched the Colter show, and the crowd was amazing. No yelling, not funny business, just listening to every single word. After the show, my buddy and i went out back and saw him smoking a cigarette. We said hello, and he said "wow, y'all speak pretty good English!" we told him that's because were American. We got a pretty good laugh at that. We helped him load their van, Gave Blake and Belle a ride to their hotel, and accidentally cut off Colters van on the way out of the venue. We drove back just in time to make it back to work the next day on no sleep. Unforgettable night, absolutely worth it.
Colter Wall and Sierra Ferrell are two of the most unique voices and greatest talents going today. they both are keeping traditional genres alive and bringing this music to whole new generation. Love them both.
Damn, Colter is the coolest dude in country music, hands down. I'll never forget the night I was cooking dinner at home and "Sleeping on the Blacktop" came up on the playlist I was listening to. I dropped everything I was doing to see who was singing like that. Been hooked ever since and got to see him live earlier this fall. What a legend.
Same bro same. I’ve taken a step back from colter cause I’ve exhausted his albums so much but it’s been fun finding different artists who have similar talent
@@billyashworth7393 I’ve seen that one, colter is so close in all of his covers but I don’t ever think he’s done better than Townes. Not a bad thing cause colter is one of the best out there but that just goes to show how good Townes was
I’m a 45 year old man from England & I thought I knew what my favorite music was until I saw THE DEVIL WEARS A SUIT & TIE & ever since it’s sent me down a rabbit hole & all I listen to is Colter , Billy strings ext… it’s really opened my eyes to new artists
In an era where people will do anything to get their 15 seconds of fame, Colter is just so refreshing. He just doesn't care. He is who he is. Take it or leave it
When I first herd him play cowpoke I fell in love with his voice and Colter wall 100% led me down a rabbit hole of old country music and has definitely been a big influence for me wanting to buy a ranch.
I went and saw Colter in Vegas earlier this year and it was almost comical at first how he hardly talked at all and just played through song after song. But the more I sat there and listened, the more I realized he knew people were there for his music and not just his image and I actually loved how non flashy he was and just straight down to business. He put on a kick ass show. Hands down I think him and Zach Top are the best in the business at the moment. It’s cool that you were able to interview him!
Colter is a Real one! Saw him in Idaho this year and it was exactly the type of show I enjoy! No need for lasers and crazy lights! Just a mic and his guitar! I’d pay to see him sit by a campfire and jam! He’s that dude!
8:15 - Colter Wall music did that for me! It was quite a few years since I last played guitar, then one day I came accross Summer Wages on UA-cam and I've been playing Colter's songs for the past two years, playing every single song he ever released and usually the live versions because his improvs are so good. And then after I knew all songs, I started composing a few from stuff I learned from him and went on other new and older artists. Been a great journey to get back into music, specially from a genre that has nothing to do with my country lol (Brazil).
I first listened to Colter when I was about 14 and his music introduced me to the whole country genre. He really inspired me a lot throughout some pretty rough teenage years and I'm forever grateful for his tunes.
My absolute favorite singer!! Thank you Colter for inspiring me to play the guitar and getting me more invested into music and song lyrics. Your songs are truly powerful. I really hope one day I get the chance to meet you or see you in concert. Also, you have a great mustache! God bless!
Colters music has taken me through life and has made it better, not only is his music good but his humble personality is what we need in the music industry
“The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie” came across my Cody Jinks station on Apple Music a few years ago, and I crawled out from under my truck because I had to know who I was hearing. Been hooked since. Little Songs has actually been my favorite album and is one of my 2 year old daughter’s fav albums as well.
Colter, Sierra, and Kassi Valazzla are all such unique talents. I see so much potential in all three, plus they’re genuinely good humble people. Love this, thank you. ❤
Truly a living country music legend. Got introduced to him at a show in Lincoln, NE. His encore song was Big Iron… to pull off a classic Marty Robbins song like he did is no easy task. Can’t wait to see how far this guy goes.
Seen him in Edmonton AB, and he followed up big Iron with a tune that he had a minor fluff. At the end of the song, he said, man. I just played an 8 minute tune, then forgot the words to my own damn song... more of that humility for mentioned. Great show
Colter i think singlehandedly gave me hope that good music isnt dead yet and theres still genuine artists in the world. Cant wait to hear more from him
My son had pleasure being a wrangler several years ago when Colter and a friend of his needed to borrow our horses to go check cattle. Definitely a talented artist. Unlike many country artists he actually ranches.
I remember literally like it was yesterday the day I found my favorite artist of all time. Kate Mccannon came across my UA-cam feed, I listened to a lot of small red dirt country/old school country at the time. I think it had 400k views at the time and I remember feeling a criminal injustice that this voice wasn’t gracing more peoples ears lol. Very glad that it wasn’t just my opinion! there’s so much good country out there but most people won’t hear most of it. Also go to one of his concerts, they’re the fuckin best.
This was exactly what I was expecting, and I loved it. I hope he sees this, and realizing we thoroughly enjoy hearing him talk about himself. He's not conceded, just like, "I guess I'm all right." 😂 I love it.
Bookended 2023 with Colter shows. Billy Bob’s in January, and the Longhorn in Dallas in December. Watched him at the Two Step Inn in Georgetown earlier this year, too. I’d have been at his show the past weekend if my wife wasn’t 8 months pregnant. Dude is absolutely the undisputed best maker of cowboy/western music right now. Being the best ever to do it isn’t out of the question either. Maybe if it wasn’t for Marty there wouldn’t be a question. 🤠
Colter, you definitely are one of those guys who put people on to great music. I never listened to Waylon before I heard your "Let's All Help the Cowboys Sing the Blues" and now he's one of my favorite artists. Found Marty Robbins through your "Big Iron" too. And it's not only the covers, I had never heard Tyler Childers before you did Fraulein with him and I found Vincent Neil Emerson through you too! You were my gateway drug into country and western music some years ago now and these days it's pretty much all I listen to so I have to thank you for that, if by some chance you're reading this!
Thank you guys so much to get him on,I’m a big fan of colter and was waiting for years now to hear him talk a bit.You guys did a great job Greetings from Germany
Really hope he goes on JRE one day. I think it’d be great. Colter is too humble hahaha. I could listen to him for hours. Very interesting to just listen to a regular guy not bullshiting.. just talking truths.
Some of the best cowboys (or stockmen as we call them in Aus) that I know had never been near cattle or horses until their late teens or early 20s. If you have the passion and work ethic you can do anything. Annoys me when I see comments saying he's a phoney just playing cowboy. He's always been very honest and humble about his experiences and abilities
And the days I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations; Ah, well, I have really good days. (Mother Blues-Ray Wylie Hubbard) Great interview, thank you for this.
8:25 That’s exactly what Cowpoke was for me. I was the “I listen to everything but country” guy for years then that opened the flood gates. Him and Charley Crockett are now in constant rotation with shit like Knocked Loose and Slipknot
I am happy to say I got to see Cokter play in Columbia SC this last Thursday. You more than exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to see you again Phenomenal performance, sir.
Saw him in Columbia SC on Thursday. Fantastic show! His audience is 16 year old boys up to 70+ men. It’s man music for Men. I’ll be a fan as long as he plays.
Never listened to Colters music but gave “Talkin Prairie boy” a listen, really appreciate his older style. Feels more real than other singers. Seems like a genuine guy to.
I took my family to see Colter at Billy Bob’s in Feb 23’. It was one of the best shows I’ve seen in a while. He puts on a great show with iconic music that is timeless and honk tonk at heart.

What a great dude. Could go on Rogan and probably double or triple his fan base, but here we are on my man , freaking Dale Brisby's pod. As it should be! He'll make it to Joe eventually.
Thank you for doing this Colter. Your whole attitude is interesting so don't sell yourself short. Keep doing what you're doing though, although I know you will lol. Also come play a show in Ontario somewhere. I got a great venue right close to home. First video I saw of you was in a brewery so come play in one. They do Mystery concerts!!!! No bigger name to appear at one than you
Seeing colter doing an interview is like Seeing santa on christmas night
Rogan is crying right now
I’m crying right now
2 of my favorites !! 🤠 🤠 ✌️ ✝️ #rodeotime
Ha! poor rogan. Colter Joe is waitin on ya man
He should have went on Rogan instead
Yea he is lol
The people who say they aren’t that interesting are generally the most interesting.
same with the ones who dont claim to be a hand are usually a pretty good hand and let their work do the talking.

Totally agree I would also at Logan halstead
I think Benjamin Tod and Colter would make good music together.
You’re not wrong about that!
I wish so bad they would do a song or even album collab together.
I just found Sierra because of this comment.

@@DaleBrisbyBullRider Thanks, and thanks for having him on. It was an awesome episode!
Me too
Thinking on a woman was the song that got me into Colter
You heard the original 16 brewery sessions versions of a few of his songs? I think they’re even better then his album versions
An introverted private man sharing his talent with the world and providing for his family. God bless.
I once drove 4 hours to see him perform and had to drive back that same night.
It was absolutely worth it. Colter Wall is one of the greatest.
Sounds like a normal weekend in South Dakota.
He finally booked a show in my home town and then cancelled two days before. Had fantastic seats.
Yep! Traveled from Western MD to Franklin TN to see him. About 10.5 hours one way. Love it
Me and a buddy actually went to California from Norway to see Colter Wall haha! 16 hours by plane each way! Coming back for him once more this year!
I’d love to see Colter Wall and Charley Crockett play together. In Amarillo or Lubbock!
This, all of this
Yes sir, that would be a great show.
Would be the greatest show. Indeed.
Charley suuuucks haha
I would probably die that would be the best song ever made

Townes has been my top artist since 2018, listen to blaze also I know they get coupled together all the time but still
Townes is the only artist who’s songs cannot be covered as good as how Townes originally did it

What do you mean? How would you describe Colter's self and how has he been true to it?
Not any Americans.
