Here I am! A French man who moved to the USA in 1998 age 21 thinking I’ll find the dream life over the Atlantic. I did build a good business and married a beautiful California girl and we raised a beautiful family.
Sounds good like I had made it!
Until I realized after the kids were all grown up. I did nothing but work and work and lived a high pace and stressful life. Not going back home much due to the pace you have to maintain.
I’m a strong, rough French country man growing up learning in French school and the values of tradition, work ethic, respecting nature, History and the family and community values of a very opd nation.
Today, somebody at work showed me your video so I went home and watch it all night n my own. I couldn’t help my self to feel really emotional and missing my beautiful France!
It’s tradition, hard work but also the peace, landscapes, food, and of course the wise, cultivated and Brave French People!
Sometimes we only realize what we have when we know longer have it. I will come home good soon! Thank you to the American People and it’s values. But 25 years later I don’t feel home here anymore. The rich run the country with not a care for they people and they true values. France is the best nation in the world!

Mon cher Éric, France isn't in his greatest form these days. Our beloved country have seen better days in the past. Everything here is just violence, everywhere, every day...
It hurts my heart to say this but think twice before moving back...

I am always impressed by the beauty of architecture and the rich history of France showcased in these videos. However, I would like to suggest that creators also focus on the craftsmanship and traditional skills of our regions. For example, the village of Angles-sur-l'Anglin is famous for its lace makers and their unique 'jours' technique. Other villages, like Mirecourt with its lutherie, Seillans with its ceramics, or Villedieu-les-Poêles with its brass workers, have equally fascinating artisanal histories.
Highlighting these artisans would not only diversify the topics covered but also bring attention to exceptional skills that are often less known internationally. I also invite commenters to share the traditional crafts from their own countries. For instance, what are the unique artisanal techniques in your region? This could give creators ideas for exploring these socio-cultural aspects in their future documentaries.
Let’s shine a light on the richness of global craftsmanship, which is as fascinating as architecture and history, and celebrate the trades that keep ancestral traditions alive with passion and expertise.
    😊🇲🇫

  • @XiaoVeen
    @XiaoVeen 6 місяців тому +4

There is a misunderstanding with the comments all praising one place or another, the real question is what the tourist is interested in.
Tourists (apart from Japanese buses and all that) each have their own curiosity, the landscape, local or national history, the lives of people, their own origins, or even places that have made them dream of through novels or movies.
We should not have an ideal idea of the tourist considering that he must go here or there (preferably in my region), let him discover what he wants. And tourists visiting Paris are not as stupid as you think, it's not just the Eiffel Tower and all that crap, but lots of beautiful and exciting places.

You know, after seeing a few of those kind of videos, I've come to think that the easiest way to see if that list was made by a French or not is to see if Rocamadour was included. Rocamadour has a special place in the heart of lots of French peoples due to how special it is; but it's far away from any major tourist route used by foreigners visiting France, because it's not easy to go there without a car. It feels to me that Rocamadour would probably (no matter the spot) always be in a "best village to visit" list made by a French; regardless of their preferences, but I've never seen it in any foreign list.
Not to downplay the villages on the current list at all, of course. They all look good.

There's many small city in France, some barely have any citizens out of summer holidays. Some city like clisson for exemple goes from about 7000 people during the year to more than 450 000 during the hellfest music festival. Some like Chateauneuf du pape with a bit more of 2000 citizen, are famous for their weird history, this city has an official decree saying UFO aren't allowed to land there (true story). Some are basicaly "shop-city" you go to visit cause it's a beautiful village, but once you're there it's shop and restaurant everywhere, almost no-one actually live there like collonges-la-rouge (beautiful small villages with red-ish building in the correze region) 479 citizen and about 100 times more tourist all year.
