  • In this video Kalvin gets to introduce you guys to I-95 Muscle's newest project. It's a customer's 1993 Mustang and soon will no longer be the boring 2.3L that Ford initially had planned for this tame Mustang. Instead, it will be rocking a 2016 Mustang Ecoboost 2.3L turbo. If we're lucky, this one will also get the Turbonetics turbo upgrade. Please feel free to drop any questions in the comments below and hit like and subscribe to keep up with the build.

    Like that you’re keeping it a 2.3 💪

    It's going to be an updated newer 2.3 SVO mustang basically. Cool swap, that's for sure.

    Are you planning to use the Ford Ecoboost engine control pack (M-6017-23T) or a third-party ECU ?

    Looked up your video. Have an old 67 straight six I wanted to swap a 2.3 into or a cyclone into. 300 ish hp in a car that weighs so little always made me wanna do it. I have a 2.3 already tuned to e30 that is fast can't imagine if I lost about 800 PDS.

    Will a ecoboost fit in a new edge

      I don't see why people arent doing a 2.3 swap into a new edge, but they mostly get coyote swapped

    You know the ecoboost 2.3 is just a duratec 2.3 or Mazda L3-VE but the ecoboost just has a new Ford head and vvt and turbo other then that it's just the duratec/l3ve

    • @Project-gr6zy
      @Project-gr6zy 4 роки тому +2

      @@I95Muscle so the l3VE or duratec 2.3 started off in 2001.5 for the ranger and I believe 03 for the card, dual overhead cam, 34mm intake and 30mm exhuast valves, early version are sequential port fuel injected, later models direct, Mazda developed intake variable timing and shared with Ford in 06-7 and discontinued it in 2013 and the successor was skyactive series, Ford stayed with the design til ecoboost 2.3 showed up where they re ported the head and put in en exhuast vvt, the ecoboost blocks were also changed from solid blocks with the small coolant pass to hollow blocks where the cylnders have just a thin wall and have the best cooling, aluminum head and block, forged crank, cast rod and head, interference, chain driven, temps are good at 245-275 not the normal 200, for the hollow blocks good temps are 215-255, do not exceed or else with the hollow block it will warp, redline with NA is between 7500 and valve float occurs at 9450, this motor makes peak power at a temp of 238 and an rpm of about 5750 and peak torque at 3875

    • @Project-gr6zy
      @Project-gr6zy 4 роки тому +1

      Solid block will reliably take about 10 psi boost the hollow blocks are rated at 8 max..., Solid blocks last forever and can be sleeved, I have a 2.5p block but a sleeve in to make it a 2.3 and so it will last the test of time, with completely forged internals and a proper radiator for something like a 5.8 Windsor, and a proper intercooler, you can reliably push about 44 PSi, my setup is at 16 and making around 430 HP and 502 ft/lbs torque at 3750 and 430 at 5800, these like the Lima do not like to have retarded cams at all, they like advance to about 3-5 degrees with no interlope if boosted but like about 2 degrees interlope for high end power

    Why do people put a 2.3 turbo thunderbird engine in a mustang? I have a 1993 mustang and it has that engine on it but I don’t understand why they did that. Can someone please tell me?!

      Because it's a bolt-in conversion? Ford actually sold a Mustang from 1984-1986 with the Turbo Coupe engine (+ intercooler, before the Turbo Coupe had one). 200 HP, and a track tuned suspension. It was the Mustang SVO. It didn't meet Ford's sales expectations, unfortunately...since it was lighter than a 5.0, with 200 HP, it actually had a slightly quicker 0-60 time 😎 It was more expensive than the GT
