  • Installation of a Panasonic bathroom exhaust fan with EZ bracket in an open ceiling. Detailed installation. The Panasonic FV 0511 or a similar bathroom exhaust fan from Panasonic is one of the quietest and most durable bathroom exhaust fans on the market. I recommend this bathroom exhaust fan to everyone.

This video was extremely helpful. My electrician installed our Panasonic fan, and I had provided the short pipe to connect to our previously installed flapper vent. The electrician failed to install the pipe, and told me to have an HVAC company install it. The bid I received for that additional sheet metal work was $375?! This video gave me clear instructions, step by step, on how to remove the fan , and I was able to easily add the short section of galvanized pipe to finish the job myself. Saved me $375 and a night's sleep. Now that's a helpful video!
    Thanks so much!!

I came for the install, and then I came again for the MIDI loop. What a fancy party this is!

It seems like this model was also designed as a retrofit fan. This video showed it as for new construction where drywall had not be installed before. It would be nice to have a video shown as a retrofit where only access through a hole is available.

This video is for new construction. I just attempted to install this fan by replacing an old fan. The EZ rail system is very delicate and needs to sit on top of the drywall ceiling. Attempting to mount the back portion of the fan outlet and wiring junction box did not work. I mounted it on top of the EZ rail system and used the self taping screws provided.
NOTE: It's a ONE-TIME shot using these self-taping screws - if something doesn't fit right and you need to remove and reinstall the screw, it no longer works and then you get into further trouble since the screw will not keep the fan outlet assembly fastened to the EZ bracket. This is when the trouble starts.
It took an inordinate amount of time to get this installed - something near 8 hours because of all the nuances.
Sure its easy when you have no drywall and are not working on a ladder or in the attic.
I need to go back again to attempt to get this cleaned up and properly installed.
I am not too happy with the overall installation of this system.
I think it should have been much easier!

It says in the instructions to NOT to put an elbow on it right at the fan outlet. It says to give the fan at least 3' before you put any 90-degree elbows in.

It is Panasonic recommendation, but outside vent outlet already installed and no other option to vent it out.

Lol, I'm just guessing it didn't come with that connector for the cable coming into the electrical box.

Thanks for the video! Where do you do the cut out once the drywall goes up? Seems you wouldn't want to cover the frame of the fan body so it could be easily removed, so around the outside of it and the bracket?

Exactly what I don't get. The vent is now flush with the bottom of the joists. Now install some strapping and your drywall, and the vent is now.... it's now around an inch and a half inside the ceiling. How tf is this supposed to work? I guess the vent cover can slide down a little on its wires to accommodate the added height? But what about the gaps between the strapping and the drywall? Won't it pull air in between them?

After installation my light, night light and fan operate independently from their own switches. When I turn on the heat switch only, both the fan and heater operate. Unable to get heat to operate by itself. suggestions?

    Hi
Do you have to leave it down a 1/2” on your framing for sheet rock when you are doing it in new construction? Not a retro fit? Thank you

I’m in the same boat right now. So I’ve attached the fast bracket to the joists and the fan housing up to the bracket (per the instructions). But nowhere in the directions does it specify this aspect. Did you drywall over the flange and right up to the inner part of the housing? Does the grill still firmly attach being 1/2” recessed above the ceiling drywall? I’m stuck

it doesnt seem the 2 self tapping screws at time 3:32 actually hold the fan up, like the 2 on the other side. At 4:32 you push up on that side and it doesnt seem secure? I'm about to put mine in but dont see what holds that side up? Am I missing something? thx, great job also.....Mike

Look at the upper fan body and the side guide already installed. You will see what holds the fan body to the side guide.

If you're an hvac installer and are installing these over and over again, it's a decent design. But if you are only installing one, this an overly complicated (aka stupid) design with 0 instruction....
