"He already walk like Darth Vader" and thats why Hayden did such a good job. He really understood all of Vaders mannerisms even down to the way he spoke. Perfect casting
@@theone7964 Fans need to fix the treatment of the other actor who played young Anakin. I always felt bad hearing about how he was teased. People didn't like his acting, but I think he was purposely instructed to portray a happy character before his journey of becoming a Jedi and Vader.
Anakin was always the Chosen One. While Luke did face off against Vader, and defy the Emperor, it's Anakin that sacrifices himself for his son in order to actually kill the Emperor. What I love the most about that moment is that he does it, not out of duty as a Jedi, not with the intention of of fulfilling a prophecy, he does it to save the life of his son. He couldn't save his mom, he couldn't save his wife, but he died saving his child... While simultaneously fulfilling an ancient prophecy.
Grievous wasn't aware that Darth Sidious and Palpatine were the same man. So his attempt to capture the Chancellor was very real...to him. Dooku was the only one that knew of Palpatine's dual identity. Speaking of Dooku, that last fight was supposed to go very differently. I mean, clearly; the guy lost his head. He was always supposed to lose the fight, he and Palpatine planned on that, but Dooku wasn't expecting to die in the end. And while the plan was to throw the fight, Anakin beating him the way he did wasn't intended by Dooku.
One of the reasons they jedi can’t sense palpatine is evil, is because there’s a sith temple under the jedi temple, and Sidious uses it’s old power to weaken the jedi, as Sidious is also very skilled in arcane magic and sorcery, and he’s the most powerful force user alive, only Anakin would have exceeded him eventually, if the didn’t lose his limbs and become a cyborg.
@@ncard00 Where is any of that Sith temple under the Jedi temple crap in the movie? No one who didn't read that particular bit of EU (I assume this is EU/Legends/well after RotS was released) could intuit that's what's going on. Palpatine is doing it himself because he's that damn powerful. So much EU tried to fix "fan problems" that were not actual problems in the movies.
i dont think so, i think Dooku was again proving his loyalty to Sidious and showing him that Anakin wasnt all that by defeating him. It was like the one who survives will be my apprendice, and Dooku went there to defeat Anakin and prove himself to Sidious.
@@15uzu ah yes, they replaced the Emperor for Ep5 The Empires Strikes Back with Ian McDiarmid in the Special Edition and any future releases. The original was played by Marjorie Eaton and voiced by Clive Revill.
A lot of people who grew up with the original trilogy knew that Palpatine was the Emperor the instant he appeared on the screen in Phantom Menace, but it was great watching you work it out.
It is after all stated as such in the novelization of Star Wars (A New Hope, but of course it wasn't called that yet) which came out in 1976. It was never meant to be a secret.
I agree with you 100%. There’s a part of me that wishes I didn’t know that Senator Palpatine was the Emperor when I watched the Phantom Menace. Watching Coby figure it out was really enjoyable.
@@TheSwordOfTheJedi-u2p Okay, I have a question, did the 1976 novelization also name him as Darth Sidious? I had read it when i was little (was around 10 years old), but only remember it being a long read. I actually remember seeing the name Emperor Palpatine in the Return of the Jedi novelization. I don't remember Sidious being mentioned in the Jedi novel, however (It might have been, and I forgot). So, the name Sidious was new for me in Phantom Menace.
@@davidsmith8283 No, the name Sidious came later. It wasn't until the late 90s that Siths having a Darth title became a tradition. Prior to that, any ancient Sith mentioned just used their normal names like Exar Kun and Naga Sadow
Yeah..... if I'm not mistaken Emperor 'Palpatine' was never named in the Original Trilogy on film, In the Original Trilogy novels he was named... & back then all us Kids read Books ! so us Early 'X Genners' have always known..., I'm always stuck by what this release order must feels like to Millenial's, though I can never quite grasp the difference in Lore knowledge. I guess its like knowing History in real life..., unless you've studied, you wouldn't know ☺
Leia's recounting of her real mother... "She died when I was very young." Which is true. And of what she remembers... "Just images, really. Feelings. She was very beautiful. Kind... but sad." As a Force-sensitive infant, Leia could have picked up on her mother's feelings as she was in her final moments, which would have been of kindness and (for painfully obvious reasons) sadness. And later, as a child, she likely could have had Force-inspired visions of her mother but, raised with no understanding of the Force, was unable to distinguish them from actual memories. Considering she was likely never told many (if any) details of exactly when or how her mother died, she just assumed they were memories from the very brief time they were together before her mother died. So, what she said was true... from a certain point of view.
Lucas didn't think it would matter someday, when he made the first 3 films. When the time came it made much more sense to let her die right away for dramatic effect. It would've been very anticlimactic, Anakin turning into Vader and then they had to wait a few years until she's dead and the children would go to other people. Lucas just made up stuff as he went along, just like Tarkin seems to be superior to Vader in Episode IV. Of course there are also many explanations for that, but we know the real reason, at least in our universe. In the Star Wars universe you are absolutuely correct though 😉
I have memories of my grandmother who died when I was very young. However, I know that they are mostly false memories. I was way too young then and my parents have confirmed that what I remember could not have happened. Even if it was originally a real memory, over the years I forgot most of it and then what remained with other memories.
I recommend watching Rouge One, and then ending your Star Wars Journey. Sure there are some cool battles and interesting moments after that but if you want a complete and fulfilling story, just stop 🛑. If you really want one more, watch Andor. It's a slow start but I would say it's the best Star Wars story, period.
A detail most people miss: 3PO & R2 have swapped masters. Originally, R2 belonged to Padme, and 3PO belonged to Anakin. They gave each other their droids as a wedding present.
Yeah, and please watch the clone wars animated show as well, would love reactions, but in your spare time is fine as well. You will start to care so much about the clones, and it’ll make their story so much sadder.
Something a lot of people don't seem to notice - Anakin gets his yellow eyes during his killing spree (which people DO notice), then you see him on the bridge on Mustafar, and his eyes are back to normal and he's crying. Then, they go back to the Sith eyes when he's screaming at Obi-Wan. So much conflict. Really a beautifully developed story that gets way more flack than it deserves.
She also was turning to Luke when she says that and with her dying breath. And Leia is the only one of them brought to Padme's face and that is why she has a memory of her specifically.
@@thomasjones4570 It is IMPOSSIBLE that a newborn can remember anything about that event. Just remember that George changed slightly the plot many times. It´s just a minor detail.
@@williamshelton4318 - Palpatine also made sure his armor was extremely painful for him. That way Vader would spend more time and attention on not being in constant agony to formulate a plan on how to overthrow his master
The thing that a lot of people don’t appreciate, which is brilliant writing by Lucas, is how do you have Obi Wan dismember Anakin without making Obi Wan look like a monster? He can’t do them all one at a time, so Anakin has to be rotating to lose them all to a single slash. The high ground beat has been mocked but it’s actually genius because Anakin wants to prove he’s better than Obi Wan and it lets him take three limbs with one slice.
@@MrClubfoot90That could be interpreted as another example of genius writing. The point here is that Dark Force users enjoy the fight, and usually get cocky when they have the upper hand. A good Jedi is supposed to be the opposite, never taking a victory for granted until the fight is over. Maul was sliced because he saw Obi Wan hanging there defeated and got cocky, while Obi remained calmed (amazing feat considering his situation, a lack of a lightsaber, and having lost his master just seconds ago). That’s why he said “don’t try it” to Anakin, he was just lighting the mood with the high ground comment (a reminder of the good times and practices/tactics they had together in all those years), but saw that Anakin took it seriously. And Obi, at his core, didn’t want to kill Anakin, he knew he had to, but didn’t want to. If it was an enemy he wouldn’t have said anything, but he warned Anakin because he knew his arrogance would be his doom. And it was. In a way, both Anakin and Obi were at the “low ground” in these two scenes, and they are meant to show how a Light Force user can be wiser in these type of situations while a Dark Force user can be weaker when having the upper hand. To sum up: Maul - High Ground - sliced in half. Obi - Low Ground - sliced Maul in half. Obi - High Ground - almost sliced Anakin in half. Anakin - Low Ground - almost sliced in half and then burnt alive. Moral of the story: don’t fall to the Dark Side kids, just stay in the Light. And watch your limbs.
1:06:05 R2 actually never gets memory-wiped. He really has seen it all. Really makes you think about A New Hope, when R2 asks C3PO in the beginning, "Do you think he likes me?" (talking about Luke). R2 wants to know that because it's Anakin and Padme's son and he knows it.
Ian McDiarmid was in his 30s when he played The Emperor in Return of the Jedi (he was inserted into Empire Strikes Back later). They wanted a younger actor under a lot of makeup so he could do the stunt fall. It worked out that he was the right age to play a younger Palpatine decades later.
@@Mr.Ekshin More the being lifted and chucked by Vader part. Also, the first actor they had was in his 70s, and got sick, so they thought overall going younger was better. I also read that they were going to use someone else for the voice until Lucas heard McDiarmid speak the lines on set.
@@Mr.Ekshin From a 2013 USA Today interview with Ian McDiarmid: ""I remember it well because it took about a week to get me down that chute with the wires and flying," McDiarmid says. "I remember saying, 'Is he dead, George?' at the time, and he said, 'Yes, he is. Absolutely dead.'" The same interview also mentions how the original actor had a problem with the contact lenses, but I remember reading somewhere else that they specifically wanted a younger actor.
Sidious/Palpatine is not simply a Sith Lord, but a true Master of the Dark Side. He's been manipulating galactic events from behind the scenes, beginning nearly 20 years before the events of Episode 1. Prior to the events of Episode 2, only Mas Amedda and Dooku knew Palpatine was Sidious. Also, Steven Spielberg was brought in as a "guest director" for the film's climax, overseeing pre-visualization of an unused version of the Utapau chase scene and making art-design suggestions for the Order 66 assassinations, as well as the Mustafar duel sequence.
The senate build it for them as a gift , but the site was chosen for a particular reason, its a dark side nexus , they built the temple above it to cap it and prevent evil . The empower took it and turned it into his imperial Palace afterwards, By nexus I mean like a spring, of dark side energy, originally it was a sith temple,
The bald chick next to Palpatine on his senate platform also knew who palps was and his plan she was a low level darkside witch just can't remember her name offhand
I love the exchange between Anakin and Palpatine regarding Obi-Wan after the Dooku fight. "Leave him, or we'll never make it." "His fate will be the same as ours." And it was... all 3 of them died on a Death Star battlestation
Remember how Anakin was born without a father, Remember how Chancellor Palpatine told Anakin about Darth Plegus could manipulate the medi-cholorians to create life, Remember how Palpatine smiled as he talked about Plegus' apprentice killing him and stealing the knowledge
And there's a theory that Padme did not die of a broken heart, but because Palpatine used the power to sacrifice her (drain her life) and save Vader (transfer it to him). The machines couldn't tell because they were birthing bots not jedi bots (to detect midichlorians/the force). Hence when Palpatine says "You killed her", he's not technically lying -- Vader unknowingly absorbed her life force when Palpatine performed the power on him. Palpatine didn't have to use Padme as the sacrifice, but he was mad at Vader for losing his limbs (would never live up to his full force power potential) and knew that her death would torture Vader for the remainder of his days, and turn him into the cold blooded, evil killing machine that is Darth Vader. He was also fulfilling the force dream (of her dying), to which the Sith actually believe force dreams were always true and should be realized whenever possible, whereas the Jedi believed they may sometimes come true, but the learning to let go means the possibility of avoiding going down that path in the first place. Obviously it wasn't all the time (Anakin's mom would've died if he hadn't gone), but had he allowed Palpatine to be killed by Mace, her life would've never been trained by Palpatine to save future Vader.
Watching Coby's realising of the tragedy of Anakins choices was literally like watching a car crash unfold in slow motion in front of you. It so sad 😢 Anakins story is one i always use when explaining the "sunk cost fallacy" to someone becuase it perfectly contextualises the premise... And all the later movies, games and novels do a good job building on a story of a hero who is looking for a way out but is trapped by his decisions and his shortcomings... Sad Times 😢
Why Palpatine controls the Clones: The Clone Army, as you learned in Ep II, was commissioned by Jedi Master Syfo-dyas. He was instructed to do so by Count Dooku. Count Dooku was instructed by Sidious (Palpatine). They were commissioned for the Republic, and Palpatine at this time was over the Republic as Supreme Chancellor. He was literally both sides of the chess board in the war.
also, they told him how they had a inhibitor chip taking any order without question. and as chancellor, plaps was essentially like the commander in chief which over rides any order of anyone belo whim. so when he gave it, and they could not quesiton it. noone else could really over ride it etiheer
@@spencergrady4575 well i think it was implied in part 2. he said they were made mor docile, to tkae any order without qustion. so even if you didn't see the clone wars, it still explained it.
@Johnadams20760 that doesn't imply a chip at all. In fact, when that episode first aired it caused a lot of fan excitement because it finally made more sense. In the movie, it's more implying they were altered at conception, in the same way their growth was accelerated.
Anakin is the chosen one, Luke was the catalyst in turning him back to the light, but Vader did kill the Sith, meaning himself and the emperor, and brought balance to the force, and though Obi-Wan might be considered the perfect jedi, by jedi temple standards, Luke is the real perfect jedi, cause he balances the jedi ways with having attachments to his friends, without letting the fear of losing him pull him to the dark side. You should read the novel 90’s triology called Heir to the empire, it’s what many consider to be the real star wars 7,8,9, compared to Disney’s 7,8,9.
Samuel L. Jackson only had two requests for his character: a purple lightsabre blade, and a dramatic death scene. Love how they set up the scene for Palpatine to throw Mace out the Windu.
@@Erulin68 I think that was after they finished the movies and they let actors keep some props and the prop department engraved BMF on it before giving it to him.
When Leia says she remembers her mom, she's really seeing Force memories of her mother just before she died. Leia describes it as "feelings more than memories" which she can feel through the Force. It's also said that the reason Leia had this connection and Luke didn't is because Leia had her eyes open at birth and Luke didn't so he never saw Padme.
The Palpatine/Emperor identity thing is really interesting, because everyone who was really invested in the franchise between 1983 and 1999 knew that the original trilogy emperor's name was Palpatine and that he was formerly a senator, and they knew that the same actor who played the Emperor Palpatine in Episode VI was going to be playing Senator Palpatine in Episode I. So, for that group of viewers, it was simply a given that Senator Palpatine was the Sith Lord directing Darth Maul and that he was going to become the emperor eventually. But, the actual films are pretty subtle about it, and some viewers don't make the connection until Anakin does.
Yeah, I was familiar with the name Palpatine. I remember in the movie theater for Ep I there was an audible gasp from a good chunk of the audience when the senator shows up. My brother, who was not as big of a fan, asked me what that was about, why so many people reacted to this random minor character. I just said: "You'll see." I think the prequels did a pretty good job at either creating a mysterious and subtle reveal for those who don't know, or presenting an evil game of shadows for those who know already.
I remember that my cousin told me when I was like 6, back in 1999. I recently asked him who told him but he couldn't remember. I have even seen reactors who don't piece it together until he puts on the hood, after Windu got thrown out the window.
I bought the novelization of New Hope right after seeing the movie opening weekend). The novelization mentioned Palpatine by name in the first paragraph of the first page. So he was the first character Introduced in the novel. Original fans knew all about Palpatine (some even before the first movie came out). His identity was not meant to be a secret in Phantom Menace which is why they showed him smiling at young Anakin at the end and saying he would watch young Anakin's career with great interest. And of course, we knew it was the same actor from Return of the Jedi. Still, they didn't explicitly state it ,so younger viewers could enjoy figuring it out.
To be real it is so rare that we see any movies try to be as subtle as Episodes 1 and 2 were especially with their main villain. You just never see such a slow burn, rife with small clues but no smoking gun. Almost every other movie or show would instead overtly show the audience their identity, probably would have Sidious pull off their hood in episode 1. As much as I like the Hitchcock idea of showing the audience the bomb under the table, to me its even better when on the first watch you piece it together for the big reveal, and THEN on the rewatch you know the bomb is there. Thats pretty much how it was for us kids watching it as they came out, sure we saw the Emperor in 5 and 6 but didn't have the slightest idea to connect the two, at least not at the age I was at lol! There are so many things about the prequels that I really appreciate for how rare they are in film and tv. George's world building, commitment to showing a grand scale and going all out in character design--developing unique heroes and villains with looks and stories that were organic to the film they are shown in, it is simply unheard of. It is one thing to use a comic book or a book character, and show them as they are described. It is something else to come up with the idea for a character, and then shop around for a fitting look and backstory for a single film. Grievous is a masterclass in this regard. So is Douku really, and Gunray, and all of the villains he cooked up for the prequels. The people of Utapau all the way to Mas Amedda. It is masterful, and utterly dedicated. The Sequels are a great example of how gifted George was as a creative director. They were able to make a few gag characters that were unique, but never were able to make standout secondary and tertiary characters that really were unique and interesting. Best we have is Maz which was discount Yoda, Phasma as discount Boba, etc. George made Boba, Ig-88, Bossk and Dengar on a WHIM. He designed and built Kamino himself. In fact, the planets are a great example. Episode 3 is by and large the most unique and varied in the planets shown, and it isn't particularly close. We see planets like Mustafar, Utapau, Naboo, Kashyyyk, Mygheeto, Felucia, Coruccant, Polis Massa, etc. First lava planet, a sinkhole planet with green atmosphere, an alien jungle, a redwood style jungle, an asteroid base, on and on. THAT is a galaxy. Final thing, my god this might be ILM's magnum opus. They made this all out of nothing, hardly anything practical to rely on. The actors too did so much in what were empty blue rooms. To do all of this with CGI, when blockbusters still fail constantly today, baffles me in how impressive it is. Look at the last battle of Episode 9, released in 2019 compared to Ep 3 in 2004. The fleet in 9 looked boring and stale, the planet fake and ridiculous, to say nothing of the final plot. Here the movie opens with a stunning Coruscant, and a true fleet battle at close range while we follow our characters through it all. The stakes are grounded and fun, there is no superweapon, but like fresh air we see a high ranking person was kidnapped. It calls back to Episode 6 with rescuing Han, with the evil twist, while delivering the best opening in a vacuum out of all the movies. If we take everything into account, it only loses to Episode 4 in my opinion.
@@gabrielperez-ze9tk Yeah, and as fans we expected Star Wars to evolve beyond what George was able to do. Make it even better. I mean, he managed to improve the effects every single movie. And told a story that touched Millions if not Billions of people. So why wouldn't a multi-Billion dollar corporation be able to create something even better? Instead, it went straight down the toilet. Imagine if Disney had the same talent as George's people. We would have gotten the Star Wars we wanted. And that would have made them happy too, financially. So the current state of affairs is just sad.
@@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy I love to meet someone else who strongly believes that the chronological order is the best ! 👍💖 People make a fuss about the whole "I am your father" thingy in Ep5, because this bit has stayed a very special moment...as long as there was only one trilogy !... And btw many of us guessed this father-son thing before that scene... So no, it's not that big of a deal as people want everyone to think. It is forced to stay THE MOMENT by rightful-thinking pseudo true fans (a.k.a. "fanboys") who have a sick feeling of ownership towards the franchise... But... The truth is that it is way way way more satisfying overall, to watch in chronological order, because you benefit from all the numerous tragic moments of the franchise and fully experience the countless twists and turns... And not just this one " I am your father" bit that isn't at all the full representation of the Star Wars saga ! It is and will forever stay an intense and striking moment... But forever, if we are objective and intellectually honest, we all know that the fall of Anakin Skywalker is peak dramaturgy... And it resonates much stronger in the OG trilogy when you experience the whole trajectory by starting with Ep1. 👌💯✨
The thing is the Original Trilogy is the center of the whole saga. That's why these are called PRE-quels. They take place before the main story. If Lucas really wanted to do Chronological Order then he would have done Phantom Menace back in the 70's
@@CarlLepeltier You act as if those are the only 2 options to watch them for the first time. Only a Sith deals in absolutes. Yes, the main issue with the SW saga is that you can't watch one trilogy in its entirety without spoiling elements from the other... but there *IS* a way around it: strategically alternating between both trilogies the first time around (especially for adult viewers who are better equipped for dealing with non-linear narratives). There are 3 options in this situation: I-IV-II-V-III-VI, I-II-IV-V-III-VI, or IV-I-II-V-III-VI. This way, you not only preserve the big familial revelations in the OT (albeit simply re-contextualizing them; the "I am your father" moment no longer reads as *_"OMG, Vader is Luke's father!"_* but rather *_"OMG, Vader is actually Anakin!"_* and the 'twins' revelation arguably becomes just as shocking as the "I am your father" moment when first learned at the end of ROTS; its presentation in ROTJ always came off as an afterthought to me) *and* you don't go into the prequels already knowing their general outcome, and, thus, you end up not being as invested in them (be it consciously or subconsciously) as you would if you saw the entire OT first. Watch the saga for the plot/story the first time around (because you can never un-know it once you *do* first know it); watch it for any and all other aspects on all subsequent viewings.
@@PhysicalMediaPreventsWea-bx1zm Why do so many of you people like to act as if there was always some sort of grand artistic scheme for withholding any prequel story from a movie franchise for until it was ultimately released when in reality the starting point of virtually all potential IP's is actually totally arbitrary?? 🙄
Qui Gonn spirit taught Obi Wan to become a force ghost (at the end of the movie Yoda said to Obi that someone returned from the netherworld of the force). In all those years in solitude in Tatooine Obi Wan learnt it. That´s why he told Vader in episode IV: "if you strike me down, I´ll become more powerful that you can possibly imagine".
And in the Disney version, Obi-Wan ends up cutting meat for 10 years. And somehow gets strong enough to beat Vader in a week or something. This is why Legends will always come out on top, because they keep ruining George's story. It's like "When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the master... let's disregard the other 2 duels we had 9 years ago" and then "Only a master of evil, Darth. And I will not disregard those other 2 duels, they interrupted my meat-cutting sessions.".
The emperor in the OG triology was the same actor, just with a lot of makeup. You can hear it in his voice, he sounds younger, despite doing the emperor’s voice.
It's nice to see a reactor that actually pays attention to the movies she reacts to, and manages to figure out things for herself, also R2-D2 is the true MVP of the saga.
What would you think if I told you she is a pretty good actress and knows the plot beforehand? Would you dismiss it out of hand? Something we have to consider with these channels.
@@Mr.Ekshin You're mostly correct. I disagree about the part where he didn't think R2 could comprehend what was going on, because he waa just a repair droid. He's just as smart and aware as C-3P0, but he'a not a damn blabber mouth like C-3P0 😆
@@martinwarford1389 I think it is even simpler than that. Beyond the necessary storage for key functions, I don't think protocol droids would have the need for "memories" of events. Thus, R2 would know that it belonged to Padme and then to Anikin after their marriage, And would visually recognise entities to interact with. But beyond that there would be no need for the understanding of emotion or the need for long term memory. Being a repair droid your most important feature would be storage space for a huge database of repair information. On top of that would be a layer of programming which included analytics & problem solving. I think most would assume there would be a "learning" layer as well, but this would be redundant if the processing power of the CPU was powerful enough to run analytics & problem solving on the fly - i.e. appear on site to a repair, diagnose the problem, process the standardised way to elicit the repair, make the repair move on to next task. It's a very top down problem solving methodology Only a small portion of re-writeable storage would be needed to be allocated for "memory" as such & that would be really reserved for core purpose (repairs) information as well as system status backup data. Emotional memories would serve no purpose to a droid whose primary function is to solve problems & repair them. A protocol droid on the other hand.......... Well, linguistics being their primary function would require strong emotive and contextual understanding skills which are part & parcel with communication. A protocol droid would still have the need for the same base analytics and somewhat good problem solving skills. But their database would not be as large as a repair droid, and with the fluid nature of languages changing learning skills would be high on the agenda. For that reason a large volume of re-writeable storage space would be required to keep new interactions and new information at hand for future benefit. That would mean "memories" would form a key aspect to a protocl droids existence
The great theatre actor Ian McDiarmid played the Emperor in Return of the Jedi and the prequels. He was a young man in Jedi, but very capable of playing a convincing older character.
Anakin is the chosen one. Even when he becomes Vader he is still the chosen one, George Lucas said this in an interview. The prophecy said he would destroy the sith and bring balance. He did. He destroyed himself and the emperor. He turned back to the light side with his son Luke as the catalyst. When Luke throws away his weapon and says he'll never turn to the dark side he's pretty much saying 'no, I love my father and there's nothing you can do about it". The emperor cant understand this, he can't understand why Luke won't take the power he's offered. Luke's love for his father makes Vader realise he now needs to be the father he never had and save his son. This was beautifully explained by Dave Filoni in an interview, I can only recommend watching it.
In Lucas’ original vision Anakin fulfils the prophecy by rebalancing the overwhelming domination of the light side by reducing the Jedi numbers to match the Sith. Yoda/Obi-Wan versus Sidious/Vader. And finally the prophecy is completed when both sides are gone and Luke who has learned to balance the light and the dark within himself stands alone and ready to teach a new generation of force users what Buddhist’s would call The Middle Way. However, in order to keep the money flowing to enable his film making dreams Lucas allowed the expanded universe books to retcon the outcome to include surviving Jedi and Palawans to foster new storylines which leads to the situation we have now that fosters endless debate about how the prophecy works in that context.
@@abc123tiktok Yes, this falls under the same domain as the expanded universe departure from the original intent but even more so since the property is now wholly under the direction of Disney without any influence from Lucas himself.
@@mattschliemann9683 No, the light side IS the balance. The dark side is like sin, it shouldn’t even exist. George has explained this. The light is good. The dark is evil. The force is brought back into balance when the people who willingly give in to evil are gone. When Anakin converts back to the light and makes the selfless sacrifice to save his son, that act brings the balance. To sacrifice one’s life is the greatest love. That’s how we really know the light side is the balance. Because it takes a good act, not an evil act, to balance the force. Star Wars is about morality. To say that you need both light and dark for balance would be going against the mythos and philosophy of the whole story.
Coby, it's been a joy seeing you watch these six SW movies. As a long time fan (and fellow Aussie) seeing you put the pieces together as the story went along was just so heartwarming - for me it was spread out over years or even decades as the movies came out. And there wasn't an easy way to catch up on one movie before the next one, if you were lucky you had a grainy VHS copy off the TV that you could watch before the next one. And for what it's worth, you caught onto things a lot faster than I did :-). Thank you for sharing the journey, made me smile every time you got something - and the tough bits really touched you as well, just like they did me. May the Force be with you - always.
1) The entire Clone Wars was meant to be a Sith chess game, with the Republic and the Separatists as chess pieces, and with the destruction and subjugation of both sides as the prize. Because of this Palpatine and Dooku both entered the game at times as kings to be placed in check. (The excellent canon animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" goes into much more detail regarding this.) The start of this movie was Palpatine's turn to be in check. What Dooku failed to recognize was Palpatine played at a higher level and had already determined it was time to turn and promote Anakin, which due to the core Sith Rule of Two meant that he'd planned betrayal and death, something the Apprentice was taught to always expect. 2) Yes, the fall from orbit was Palpatine trusting Skywalker, but also trusting in the Force. With no Apprentice to replace him, he was confident, perhaps overconfident, that the Dark Side would not allow the complete elimination of the Sith. 3) Cyborg General Grievous' coughing confused many when the film came out. We were eventually shown his remaining organic organs were damaged in combat with the Jedi previously. 4) Anakin's dreams, both those of his mother in trouble (Episode 2) and Padme's death here were actually manipulations of Force foretelling by Palpatine to drive Anakin to the point of turning. 5) Manipulating the Dark Side, in the manner of the Sith, eventually leads to corruption of the physical form of the user. In Palpatine's case, a severe facial distortion. In Anakin's case, severe burns and cybernetic parts. 6) Only C3PO had his memory wiped, because he was the chatty one and secrecy had to be maintained. R2D2 however, has never had his memory wiped in the whole of Star Wars. It is a point that comes up occasionally, as it is highly unusual for an astromech droid to not have a memory wipe as standard maintenance. So R2 knowing everything became the perfect courier to Ben Kenobi in the original Star Wars, even if Ben didn't realize this was the same devoted R2 unit he'd fought alongside so often.
Sir Christopher Lee was a real life, Nazi killing, SAS badass in WWII. Lee never said anything specific about his time in the SOE, but he did say this: “I’ve seen many men die right in front of me - so many in fact that I’ve become almost hardened to it. Having seen the worst that human beings can do to each other, the results of torture, mutilation and seeing someone blown to pieces by a bomb, you develop a kind of shell. But you had to. You had to. Otherwise we would never have won.” By the end of the war he’d received commendations for bravery from the British, Polish, Czech and Yugoslavia governments. Speaking both French and Italian, Lee spent his time after World War II hunting Nazis with the Central Registry of War Criminals and Security Suspects until he decided to give acting a try at age 25. Yes, all of this happened before Lee was 25 years old.
He even makes a comment to Peter Jackson when his character dies in Lord of the Rings. When Wormtongue stabs him in the back Peter wanted Christopher Lee to be more dramatic about it. Sir Christopher Lee asked him "Have you heard how a man truly sounds when he's stabbed in the back? Because I have."
He also spoke fluent German. When he was voice acting King Haggard for the movie The Last Unicorn, he did so in the english version and the german version!
And now the anger is returning to the world, and fascism is rising once more, and history repeats... I hope I am not sending my boys to war in the coming years.
@@Mr.Ekshin I absolutely agree with you. I go even a step further. I think, its very much the reason, why there are that much p-chopaths amongst men in the first place. Bullies, ch-ld abuser, etc .. Because if women wouldnt find that hot for now 300k years, those men would be selective breed out since hundreds of thousands of years. Its just like how wolfs became dogs. By selective breeding the dogs who ''weren't unconditional obeying, loving etc'' were ruled out ... the dogs we now have, are literally in love with us humans (sure it needs still a specific way to treat them - but thats another topic). And when it comes to men, women choosed a specific kind of men for hundreds of thousands of years. So a lof of men nowadays are those violent, abus*ve , bullies, who k!ll women, children, r*pe them, etc... And women love them... defend them,etc.. With that the circle stays.. and new generations of the same ''seed'' grow up. Because everything other is perceived as ''weak'' ... as ''s!mp'' etc Its indeed very interesting how much women love those kind of guys ... to a degree where they make it sound cute ''to have a k!nk for the bad guys'' Its quite an archaic part of the female brain, i assume. Something which wouldnt be needed in a mature civilization. But there we are. In that sense they are also a root cause for wars. Because men make wars literally to show : who is the alpha - who deserves to get the females.
Grievous never knew that Sidious was Palpatine, but Count Dooku (aka Darth Tyrannus) clearly knew. Palpatine was the chancellor of the Republic, while Darth Sidious was in control of the Separatist army; he ran both sides, allowing the war to go on *way* longer than it should have. "Order 66" was a code that was implanted in ALL clone troopers, so they had to obey it; they just felt compelled to do it. This scene hits a *lot* harder, once you've seen the show The Clone Wars. Other Jedi survived Order 66, but Yoda and Kenobi were the main two.

"Why did he start burning?" Answer is the leg stumps. Saber wounds cauterize so his stumps were already superheated, so the vapor from the lava triggered the reaction and immolated him when he got too close to the river. And it's Hayden in the suit at the end, he wanted to be so he got hooked up with stilts or braces to make him stand up taller in long shots. Palpatine also telling Vader he killed his own wife basically breaks the last piece of humanity he has at this point, he believes he killed his wife and child (Didn't know twins) and had no-one left but Palpatine and that's why he serves him so readily, because he has nothing left and believes he deserves it as punishment. He is more lively when he realises who Luke is but throughout ANH he is much more lethargic and drained of energy at this point.
What "reaction?" Lava is already superheated and emits superheated gases. Saber-Cauterized Leg stumps or not, you will burn if you're that close to flowing Lava of that sort. That's Mustafar and not Maui so that Lava doesn't compare to the surface flows in Hawaii. But even in Hawaii you will see Volcanologists wearing Reflective Nomex suits to even get close to slightly cooled lava to take samples.
Shouldn't have forced choked his wife then. He is a power hungry egomaniac, whose lust for power blinded him. Not just his love. He betrayed his Brother like Master.
It was also a good way to introduce grey Jedi like Jackson, his lightsaber is blue with a hint of red, hence purple and his decision to just kill Palpatine when he was "helpless"
@@Kazeromaru Mace isn't a "grey" Jedi. Grey Jedi as a concept is from 90s EU and actually goes against everything we learned about the Force in the 2000's. You can't balance the light and dark within yourself. The darkside eats away at your soul when you start using it. It's like a drug that's starts as a great night out and six months later your begging for change in the street because it's consumed your life. Lightsabers were blue for Jedi and Red for Sith. That was supposed to be set in stone lore but the blue looked terrible in the daylight blue sky desert part of RotJ so they added green for Jedi. That was it. Jackson wanted a purple lightsaber and it's really hard to not make him look like a total badass Jedi. So they retconned that Mace as such a powerful Jedi Master that he can safely use a little bit of Darkside power when he fights and in his lightsaber style without falling in deeper. It's an absolute cheat in the lore to get around a real world problem like Star Wars has always done, from a certain point of view 😉
One theory is when Qui-Gon died, that was his start towards the dark side because Obi-Won was more of a brother figure while Qui-Gon would have been a father figure which he needed more as a Jedi initiate who started his training much later than normal.
Additionally, Obi-Wan having literally just graduated from being a padawan himself, wasn't equipped to deal with Anakin's emotions, fears and frustrations. Whereas Obi-Wan kept telling Anakin to ignore his emotions, Qui Gon was much more comfortable tapping into his emotions when needed. Anakin needed a true Master to properly train him, not someone just out of learning himself, whose view on everything was to do it by the book. My feeling is that if Qui Gon hadn't died, Anakin wouldn't have been allowed to become so close with Palpatine. Besides that, Anakin trusted Qui Gon, because he'd already become the nurturing father figure Anakin never had in their short time together. Anakin never really gained trust in any of the other Jedi because they were always suspicious and doubtful of him. It takes trust to earn trust..... something the other Jedi never fully understood.
That's not really a theory - that is what happened. That's why the song played when Qui and Obi fight Maul is called "Duel of the fates" - the duel of Anakin's fates. But I mean: It's all part of the prophecy.
George Lucas referred to the Emperor as Palpatine well before the prequels. It was mentioned in the novelization of Episode IV that came out in 1976, months before the first movie came out. We also knew that the actor who played the Emperor in Return of the Jedi was the same one who played the Chancellor. So we knew from before episode IV. In early interviews during the late 70s and early 80s, Lucas mentioned a number of backstory ideas. We knew that Anakin and Obi Wan dueled on flying platforms over lava and Anakin falling in Lava was why he needed the suit.
If you go into The Phantom Menace having only watched the movies, then you don't make the connection with the name Palpatine since that name is never spoken in the originals. You can make the connection if you follow the credits and know that Senator Palpatine is played by the same actor who played the Emperor. Lucas makes a concerted effort to cast a little doubt, but I think from the beginning he also tries to make it look like Palpatine is not all he seems.
The story of Anakin Skywalker is really one of the greatest fictional tragedies, in my opinion. He grows up a slave, sees his mother, who was left behind by the jedi, die, betrays everything he believes in to try and save his beloved, and in the end believes that in his anger he killed her, making his greatest betrayal pointless. It makes sense that Vader is so full of self-loathing and hate, completely unable to forgive himself or move forward.
What is left of Anakin in Vader tortures him by reminding him of the love and family that made everything worth living, making feel like he deserves to be hated and feel constant pain and suffering till Luke arrives not just giving a "New Hope" to the galaxy but to Anakin who is inspired to wake up and take control over Vader and Dark side. When Luke shows an enduring love for him to the point of trusting him to "keep him from dying", The Chosen One awakens and saves the "New Hope", Luke and brings balance to the Force.
Yeah, I never get why some people think Luke brought balance to the Force. He was being roasted to death by my boy Sheev. It was Anakin who saved the galaxy from further tyranny. Luke being the protagonist doesn't mean shit, it's still Anakin's story. And it always was, even before -77. It was called "The Tragedy of Darth Vader" before it was called "Star Wars". And sure, some of it was told through "Luke Starkiller's" perspective but George knew early on that he was presenting us with the middle of the story. Sadly, he sold the rights before telling us the third part.
Yes, Palpatine was able to wield the power of the dark side to obscure the Jedi order's vision and hide his true nature from them until it was too late.
Since Leia is strong with the force it s believed she remembers her mother from when she was born because of The Force and her impressions are from womb memories, but really its just George didn't think that far ahead in the 80s.
When Leia tells Luke that she "knew" her mother, she says she has just feelings ... images. I got the impression she was (unconsciously) sensing her (who she was) through the Force.
That's the retcon since Episode 3 but prior to that the idea was that Padme survived and went into hiding on Alderran but died when Leia was about 2-3 and she ended up adopted by Bail. That's why she could remember at least a little and Luke doesn't remember anything. Now Leia is either considered to be strong in the Force in a different way to Luke so newborn Leia can "remember" Padme or just straight up more powerful than Luke to plug the hole.
To confirm, not all fans hated the prequels when they came out. That’s an internet myth. I was a massive fan of the original trilogy when I sat down in the cinema in 1999 to watch the phantom menace. I must admit that I didn’t love the phantom menace straight away. It was a little odd, but attack of the clones was great and revenge of the sith was awesome. I actually fluctuate on which of the 6 is my favourite. What I think is really impressive is how they fit together. Particularly with only the rough plot and years between the movies. I mean Obi wan not recognising R2D2 is a bit strange, but did he do it on purpose or is he just an old drunk? Who cares, even these small discrepancies make for fun ideas. Oh, and currently the phantom menace is my favourite 😂
Obi-wan is very fast and loose with the truth in ANH but droids are also massively common. The audience needs to be able to recognise R2 by sight but for the characters not every old red Chevy you see is YOUR old red Chevy. They made thousands of that model and colour. Same with droids.
Lightsabers require Kyber Crystals built into the hilt to generate any kind of color. And finding the kyber crystal is a Jedi/sith test in direction for building their own sabers.
I loved how involved you get. Trying to unravel the whole plot before it happens is a trait I also share much to the annoyance of some of my friends. Of course I find it quite endearing. keep up the awesome work Coby
36:35 Literally the second they said his name in Phantom Menace. There was a lot of Expanded Universe (now Legends) material that called him "Emperor Palpatine", to the point that I accidentally spoiled that for someone when this movie was coming out, because it truly never occurred to me that the audience wasn't supposed to know. But I was very proud of you in the last movie for figuring it out on your own.
59:57 a major detail many miss… “Don’t Try It.” is alluding to the fact that Obi Wan recounted several times to a young Anakin how he defeated Darth Maul. Anakin, in his arrogance, believed he could kill his master much like Kenobi killed Maul, but failed to understand that it doesn’t matter if it’s physically below or above you: you can’t defeat the high ground.

Anakin is the chosen one/ He brought balance to the force as being a Jedi for the light, then Sith for Dark. Then when his son a Jedi for the light needed him, he chose to turn to light and destroy one of the most powerful Darkside users in Star Wars history bringing balance. This is what the Force created him for.
I thought the insinuation was that Palpatine and Plagueis created Anakin? The only time we hear about life being created rather than born is when Palpatine is describing what he and Plagueis got up to, just before his interest in Anakin.
He fulfilled all the prophecies. Just a 20-some-odd year detour on the dark side before it happened. Or maybe he was playing whole time just waiting for the right shaft to throw him down.

34:35 yes Anakin is genuinely a good person who will do anything to protect the one's he loves. The animated series 'The Clone Wars' really drives that home through his relationship with his padawan named Ahsoka and all the clones in his battalion.
The Clone Wars TV show had to work extra hard to not upset the established lore as it was itself an afterthought like the prequels - it can get messy if the writers get lazy.
Yeah, they had to include the line to "have the protocol droid's mind wiped' because in New Hope (~20 years later), 3PO is like 'what are you talking about' to R2 because R2 always knew what was up, but 3PO did not. Also, they have the scene of Obi Wan picking up Vader's blue light saber because he eventually gives it to Luke, and although never shown, Vader built a new (red) saber 'cuz, ya know, bad guy=red. lol. I also think Palpatine used that to keep Anakin alive. What he didn't mention is that you sap the life from someone and use it to bring or sustain a life.
This was further explored on the books, where it was heavily implied that because those experiments creating life they unbalanced the force, and the force created Anakin to balance itself.
In the last film Yoda referred to the weakness of the Jedi. I think whatever that weakness is is why none of the Jedi can detect the Sith Lord right in front of them.
There is a Dark Side power that Yoda refers to as "The Shroud of the Dark Side" which impedes the Jedi ability of Foresight and makes detecting Dark Side users difficult.

Yeah, and also, Yoda thinking that Anakin could just let Padme go, with him having been a slave, and losing his mother, is so naive, cause nobody is 900 years old like Yoda, losing people has become “normal” to him, cause he’s outlived so many generations of people.
I stumbled on the episode 4 video and binge watched you until the end. It's so amazing seeing these films again through fresh eyes. I can't wait for you to watch Rogue One.
@1:00:10 That's why the music for the Darth Maul fight at the end of Episode 1 is called "Dual of the Fates." If Qui-Gon lives the Chosen One prophecy looks very different. Anakin wanted/needed a father figure, which is what Qui-Gon would have provided. Instead Anakin is given an older-brother in Obi-Wan, and finds the father figure he needed in Palpatine.
Yeah but you didn't know that they would make prequels 21 years later. Knowing his name earlier is one thing but it didn't mean anything until Episode 1 came out.
Connie THIS IS HIS Turn. Palpitine is the Dark lord . DARTH SIDIOUS. Master of the Sith order. He was so strong in the force he clouded so the Jedi couldn't see him & the Jedi were too involved in politics & became complacent. There is a question of who is stronger. Jedi are stronger but the Sith think in terms the Jedi cannot fathom. There ways seem unnatural.
GM Luke might be stronger. But other than him, a bunch of Sith would rekt every Jedi 1v1, including Yoda. The 2 obvious ones are Tenebrae and Episode 6 Sheev. But even Episode 6 Vader would smack peak Yoda, who actually peaked in Episode 3. So why did Vader lose to a barely trained Luke? Because he had no motive to kill him, as a Sith he needed him to overthrow Sheev and as a Jedi he loved his son. "The conflict" Luke mentions suggests that he was somewhere inbetween. Other than those 3, Darth Revan and Exar Kun would give Yoda the fight of his life. Probably Bane and Malgus too. Post Episode 6 is not very interesting to me, because all the main characters would stomp anyone who came before them. But that also means Sith like Krayt and Caedus are way stronger than Yoda. Love is a power so great that when taken to unconditional extreme will lead to evil but when felt and used in balance can redeem even the darkest mud to whitest snow.
A quote I love that hold so much truth is, “one often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it”. And this applies to Anakin so much. Every step he took to try and avoid losing his wife was every step that ended up causing her death.
Leia remembering her mother is undeniably one of the continuity errors of the saga, showing how the backstory wasn't really fixed when the original trilogy was made. Some extended universe sources have tried to explain it as well as possible, like claiming that Leia was told about Padmé when she was very little, and later confused this with actual memories of her.
Idk how people don't think it could be as simple as her gaining those "memories" from the force, like, in her sub-conscience as a baby, she knew what Padme was like, and those "memories" were retained forever.
Um, Bail Organa's wife has entered the chat. This was the only mother Leia knew as her heritage was a well kept secret that went to the grave with everyone but Yoda and Obi-wan.

But why didn't Maul do that to Obi? /s 😅
To sum up:
Maul - High Ground - sliced in half.

Sidious/Palpatine is not simply a Sith Lord, but a true Master of the Dark Side. He's been manipulating galactic events from behind the scenes, beginning nearly 20 years before the events of Episode 1.

Remember how Anakin was born without a father,
Remember how Chancellor Palpatine told Anakin about Darth Plegus could manipulate the medi-cholorians to create life,
Remember how Palpatine smiled as he talked about Plegus' apprentice killing him and stealing the knowledge

Why Palpatine controls the Clones:
The Clone Army, as you learned in Ep II, was commissioned by Jedi Master Syfo-dyas. He was instructed to do so by Count Dooku. Count Dooku was instructed by Sidious (Palpatine).
They were commissioned for the Republic, and Palpatine at this time was over the Republic as Supreme Chancellor.

I just said: "You'll see."
I think the prequels did a pretty good job at either creating a mysterious and subtle reveal for those who don't know, or presenting an evil game of shadows for those who know already.

Qui Gonn spirit taught Obi Wan to become a force ghost (at the end of the movie Yoda said to Obi that someone returned from the netherworld of the force).
@@MrBlaktoe I always worry about that with reactors.

Also technically 2 = 2.
Yoda + Obiwan = Palatine + Vader
Balanced
Except disney decide Anakin failed because Emperor is brought back and it is not him who brings balance to force.
Not to mention that his cousin was a dude named Ian Fleming, and Christopher Lee was the real life inspiration for James Bond.
I should add he portrayed a damned fine Dracula.

Bro is always ready to overthrow Palpatine. Be it with his wife or his son.
What "reaction?" Lava is already superheated and emits superheated gases. Saber-Cauterized Leg stumps or not, you will burn if you're that close to flowing Lava of that sort. Jackson wanted to stand out so he asked Lucas for a purple lightsaber. Lucas had to think about but he finally gave it to him.
Yep! He wanted to pick himself out of the wide shots in the Geonosys battle. Plus purple is his favorite color.
It was also a good way to introduce grey Jedi like Jackson, his lightsaber is blue with a hint of red, hence purple and his decision to just kill Palpatine when he was "helpless"
Jackson has something Purple in nearly every movie he has ever been in.

Yes, you are meant to go into Episode I knowing who Palpatine is and what he becomes. Or at least, it wasn't a secret.
It wasn't a secret, but it wasn't super advertised to those who didn't consume the series obsessively.

R2 does not get wiped, he said to wipe the protocol droid... which is CP30.
In Episode II, the Council stated their ability to sense had become clouded.

Senator Organa said "Have the Protocol droid's mind wiped." So it was just C-3P0 who lost those memories. R2-D2 still remembered everything.

There is a Dark Side power that Yoda refers to as "The Shroud of the Dark Side" which impedes the Jedi ability of Foresight and makes detecting Dark Side users difficult.
@@dhavaram8064 Which we find out Yoda used to his advantage on Dagobah by living close to that Tree/Cave that gave off Dark Side energy Yoda used to mask his location from the Sith's ability to sense the light side - Tit for Tat.
There's a sith relic directly underneath the Jedi temple. That's the "shroud" yoda talks about
"And Darth Vader built [C3PO]!" 🤯
Imagine Vader's surprise when the only time he sees 3PO in the trilogy, 3PO's being carried around in pieces by some strange wookie in Bespin 🤣🤣🤣
I think Vader was a bit distracted to recognize a droid he last saw over 20 years ago 🤔 (and 3P0 has a silver leg 🥸)
To be fair, C3-PO looks like every other protocol droid...
@@havok6280There's white, black, red, and silver versions across the movies, but is 3PO the only gold one? 🤔
3PO has had a silver leg ever since EP4. It's one of the popular references to the 'Mandela Effect' as people don't remember that.
When Padme was buried, you can see the huge belly. They tried to cheat the Emperor, looking like she had died pregnant.
Instead Anakin is given an older-brother in Obi-Wan, and finds the father figure he needed in Palpatine.
i knew he was the emperor in 1978 when my mother bought me the star wars kids storybook and it mentioned that a senator palpatine became the Emperor 😆
If you had the Vader toy container back in the day, the spot for the Emperor said Emperor Palpatine.
@@RobertJ-vo4bk So sorry I meant Cobie
I have never heard anyone say that Jedi are generally stronger than Sith. Ever. You are truly unique, my friend.
@@Sandlund93 "Is the Darkside stronger?"
"No, no. Quicker, easier, more seductive" - Luke and Yoda in ESB
"I have never heard anyone say that Jedi are generally stronger than Sith. Ever. You are truly unique, my friend."
I guess you never bothered to watch Episode 5 The Empire Strikes Back then?
@@dansharp2860 So, in Episode 5, when does anyone ever say that Jedi are generally stronger than Sith?
Is your interpretation of Yoda's statement that the dark side is weaker? If not, I don't get what you're trying to say.
If he is saying that the dark side is not stronger, the only option left is not that it's weaker. The light and the dark can be equal too.
But this is of no relevance when we are comparing individuals. Anakin was obviously the strongest 22-year-old in the history of the Jedi, for example.
@@Sandlund93 How are the light and dark equal if every Sith would stomp a Jedi 1v1? You are not making any sense. Either they are at least equal as per Yoda or the darkside is stronger and your "rekt" statement is justifed. Which one is it? Is it the quote from the movie or your bit of made up bullshit?
Can't wait to see your reaction Coby!!!! You know it's coming, but when you see the fall, it's gut wrenching.
The Kenobi series is a must, some massive movements in the story.
Thank you Coby. I hope you will continue traveling this Star Wars path with us.
Love is a power so great that when taken to unconditional extreme will lead to evil but when felt and used in balance can redeem even the darkest mud to whitest snow.
My Dearest Ms. Coby
+ SOLO
+ Entire ANDOR series
+ ROGUE ONE
Please take me with you! 🥰🥰🥰
highly recommend andor
Agreed. Watch it all together we MUST!
Isn’t Andor the series where they talk in an alien language for great swaths of the episodes without translating ANYTHING?
Do you hate her? Why on earth would you wish Solo on somebody except to punish them.
@@TheSwordOfTheJedi-u2p LOL! True!
Remember that in part 6 Darth Vader defeats Palpatine, meaning that he did bring back the balance. Anakin was the chosen one.
A quote I love that hold so much truth is, “one often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it”. And this applies to Anakin so much. Every step he took to try and avoid losing his wife was every step that ended up causing her death.
Absolutely loving your reaction to the entire Star Wars Journey
Leia remembering her mother is undeniably one of the continuity errors of the saga, showing how the backstory wasn't really fixed when the original trilogy was made. Some extended universe sources have tried to explain it as well as possible, like claiming that Leia was told about Padmé when she was very little, and later confused this with actual memories of her.
I always assumed it was due to her latent Jedi power that she had that vision of the past (similar to Anakin's future visions)
