Superb car. - looks awesome, more than quick enough for any public road, it's incredibly economical, I was seriously impressed, however as per this review, that claimed electric distance of 33 miles is utter nonsense, driving calmly at 45 miles an hour the best I have done is around 24 miles. other than that. a fabulous car. you have to be clever in packing, but enough space for a 10 day road trip for 2.
The problem with the i8 is its "target audience". Those that could afford to buy it were not concerned about fuel economy and V.E.D. duty. Those who were concerned about fuel economy and V.E.D. duty could not afford to buy it. It should make a good second hand purchase though.
Great car / pioneering hybrid carbon tub GT car (that BMW made at a loss)....now discontinued, its loss will be lamented - the next SLS and Z8 (which also had 30% discount when new) tiny production numbers future investment in 5-10 yrs guaranteed. Buy one now 😏
The car has no performance or power btw. It’s for show. It looks amazing and has a nice fake motor sound coming out of the speakers and skinny tires that would make a Toyota Camry jealous.
The battery tech wasn't good enough 10 years ago. A 2020 i8 EV would be amazing. There's plenty of space in the central tunnel and the rear for lots of batteries.
I thought about this while diving past my buddies in their eVs at the charging stations with a 28 car traffic jam this summer, going on a 1000 km holiday . Only took them 8 hours to put the plug in police was there to stop the fighting, 20 min charge max allowed. They arrived 1 day later than us, but with a great story. Nothing like a Combustion Engine. 🎉
Yeah the sound of the engine coming through the SPEAKERS!!!! is riveting. Nice motor though. The future is bright. But alas it’s not electric. ‘Disposable’ cars are not a good image or buy.
Please do more electric/PHEV sports car reviews!!!

What year is your i8? Did she say she got 33 Miles out of the Electric Motor.
@@bnnett 2019 - best I have done in extremely favourable conditions is around 20 miles. 33km maybe
Great Car

If only Tesla or Porsche take this car's exterior design for their next sports sedan....

❤️🌹❤️
It's hybrid. Doesn't count.
The dumbest decision in the history of auto making by not making this all electric
