I own a 2020 i8 Roadster for about 9 months now and I absolutely love it. To comment about you not hearing the engine and it doesn't feel sporty you can choose to make it feel sporty by switching it to sports mode and then manual gear mode. I do that almost everyday and it has much more torque and acceleration on the line. I have kept up or beaten most cars in manual sports mode. I solely bought mine in Las Vegas because everyone rents lambos and ferraris here. The i8 is just as beautiful as the best of them and no one can rent it. Not to mention they only made a few thousand of them and now I bought mine to be a collectable. I have had 0 issues and I drive the thing to the dirt sometimes even take it on my hiking trips with the top down is so much fun. Best car I have ever owned and my previous car was the Mercedes Maybach S600 much more expensive and I hated it.

I love the look an price of this bmw i8... plus you can always tune it an make it it more faster!!! Great vehicle without the hight end super car pricing!! Especially on maintenance.
@@rickydeleon6987 They stopped making them last year so i would recommend getting the 2020 i8 roadster. I have it and the electric motor goes for 40 miles instead of 25 on the older models. Been over a year now and I still have had 0 issues and everyone loves my car.

I like this guy....he hasn't got the followers of some like schmee for example but his content is always good .....he engages well with the cars he's driving and his audience too.... perhaps my favourite car you tuber??

I went in one of these recently, I've never liked the i8 much but that car made me giggle so much, it just felt fun and different and the whole thing felt like a spaceship on the inside and out
With the roof down it is a lot of fun
888MF yep, I also loved the subtle little space ship like noises, I didn't care whether it was fake or not, it felt fun, me and the driver (who was borrowing the car) couldn't stop giggling like kids
I’ve been in a few of these and of course arranged finance on loads of them - clients generally love them!

Great video dude, love the I8 in both forms, the doors, the looks and the interior is awesome, especially the interior strip lighting. With the coupe at £45k it’s getting very tempting

Thanks for posting this review. Gives me some things to consider as I'm really close to making an offer on one. Can't decide between it and the r8. The eco friendliness of this, and the somewhat ridiculous doors, both appeal to me. Plus the saving on fuel costs. Because I'm a cheapskate.

I always wanted to buy a Lamborghini, but I can only effort old school lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 for now. Recently thinking of buying BMW i8 instead of Gallardo LP560-4. Cause is cheaper, better technology and newer. But still wondering, buy Gallardo to fullfill my dream or buy i8 for better interior / comfort / technology.

Car is unreal but does have a few drawbacks, electric range is awful, two big pillars block your view a bit when pulling out of a junction and two big pillars at the back blocks your blind spot and hard to park but apart from that great car! Use it as a daily driver. Let me know when you get it!
@@teletubbypo318 hello, may I ask about the fuel consumption? Does the electric motor turn off once you go past 33 mph? Just getting interested here, I'm also eyeing on the coupe version
@@zoeyhii hi from my experience no it oscillates between the two and once you go past about 50mph the engine automatically maintains charge for the electric motor if you’re going consistent! I’ve tested each mode and eco pro got me 55mpg, comfort mode got me 45mpg and sport mode got me 15mph

Why does people complain about why BMW does not make super car? BMW does not need to make a super car simply because all their cars are super and they have the performance of a the super car and are better design. So I think in the today's automotive there is car, super car, hyper car, F1 car .....and BMW ultimate driving machines yes it is! I'm very prod and happy to see the BMW machines on the roads and time to time I believe that the BMW machine is a gift from GOD.

Unfortunately for me it does. However maybe BMW wanted to give it broad appeal?
Actually, they closed off the hole in the front bonnet due to the roadster. The front grilles are the same and closed off except the slit at the bottom is all that’s needed.
The way the Roadster vents excess heat from the front motor is different to the coupe. Without a roof, heat from the original car’s bonnet vent found its way into the cabin, so the new Roadster vents it under the car. The underbody is more aerodynamic to aid the new airflow, and because it’s marginally more efficient, you’ll find the same solution on the newer Coupes.
888MF I know. But you were pointing to the grilles, which are identical. The bonnet vent is the difference.

Will the Roadster become collectible/classic ? Only one year in production and not that many sold.
Certainly will like the 78/79 M1 - Only 26,000 total made in world 14-20 and only 2400 roadsters (17 months) of which circa 300 / 14% rhd - 5 yrs out of production prices will rise very quickly. You have to be in sport and manual to get chassis working best and the tub does not flex at all in like a 488 spyder- it is very fast in sport on B roads in the wet... almost RS3 fast !
How is a sports car supposed to handle? I have never driven one, so I'm curious!

@@fastben23 it's a hybrid electric concept for a super car. Close enough. I've taken sharp corners at very high speeds in mine and it hugs the road very well. Just one nice toy to have I'm the collection.

They are not easy to get in and out of that door sill high and you have to cock your leg high in the air to get out the thing
dont park right next to a petrol pump cause the door will hit the petrol pump and you cant get out and the same in car parking spaces

I hate to say, but you need to learn how to drive it. It is not a sports car? I suggest you tell that all the Porsches that can not get away from me on mountain roads. It has similar performance characteristics (sans top speed) as the new Cayman GT. Sports mode, manual gears and it is a sports car, and not a lower end one either. It is NOT a supercar (sadly no higher power version coming), but it IS a sports car.
I jumped out of a real sports car before driving the BMW and that was my opinion. I did say it is quick, there's no denying that.
