When Doggett first appeared in the story I absolutely hated him. He he was rude with Scully and he wanted to find Mulder for himself and not for Mulder's sake. But he kinda grew in my eyes through his devotion for Scully and his growing interest for the X Files.
Hint: The black and white scenes represent Doggett's world while it's crumbling.

but Mulder will always bring more to her life,because they are different so he completes her. With Doggett, she would have lived a happy but normal and boring life hehe... Mulder gives sense to her life, he showed her how not to be afraid to believe, even in herself, in my opinion :)

Wow, this tells such a great story, I never got to this point in the series but this was just a masterful and intense tribute to this relationship "The video says it all", the song is BRILLIANT, very well done ;)
When Doggett got killed, was eaten by the that dude and spit back out alive should've made him the champion believer of all times!
I agree.
But part of Doggett's appeal is his bullheaded attitude of not believing despite things happening right before his eyes.
Like when they encountered that guy with split personality who was brutally murdering people.
I think the only time that Mulder was that stubborn was when him and Scully faced Boggs.
Its Doggett's stubborness that first annoys you then kind of makes the character appealing.
He does not believe but he is not a jerk like Deputy Director Kersh (magnificently played by James Pickens Jr).
Doggett joined the X-Files despite his disbelief in hope to find his son (or some meaning to why Luke was taken away from him).
This made him a very sympathetic character despite his disbelief.
He embodied the "I want to believe" spirit that Scully had embraced after teaming up with Mulder.

I have been searching for a scene with Doggett talking to Scully where I swear he told her and I have yet to find it. But by searching I found the episode you were asking for lol. Its Season 9 episode 3 "Daemonicus." Doggett was talking to a mental patient who read his mind ~~
Cobould was trying to psyche Doggett out.
Agent Doggett's professional detachment and his lack of belief got under people's skins and Cobould (the bad guy) was trying to reel him in.
Kind of like the Modell and Mulder rivalry. Cobould was looking for a "worthy adversary". He mentions that Monica Reyes might have feelings for Doggett but teases that Doggett may have cast Monica aside because he became interested in Scully.
Cobould even tries to piss Doggett off by comparing him to Mulder and how he falls short from Mulder's intelligence and good looks.
I agree that Mulder is attractive but Doggett did not win "Sexiest Man in Sci-Fi" for nothing.
Personally, I prefer A.D Skinner!

I think by comparing him to Mulder, Kobold was playing with Doggett’s inferior complex as well, especially Scully loves Mulder so much. In Patient, he told Scully he’s no Mulder and throughout the series, he kept saying he’s “just a cop”. Of course he’s a very smart investigator and his bravery and integrity make him more than that. I feel so bad for him that in the end Scully still ran back to Mulder, which probably makes Doggett always feels short when compared to him.
