The railroad is no longer abandoned. It’s been active for rebuilding efforts of Chernobyl. The “nuclear train” is only for rebuilding employees. Plus there are around 30 outposts along the line outside the zone and around 10 inside the zone.

Very good job guys on the draisine! Two small snowploughs in the front would've helped a lot. Stopping right at the road cross, and leaving footprints around was a very bad idea, also using the chainsaw without having to, can draw unnecessary attention. Be more mindful next time. Probably better to turn off the phones ,and only turn on if there's an emergency.

I can't be the only one who wanted to see what's inside that box, Also the voltage between the rails means that the railway's train detection system is still working which means that any short circuit there would leave a HUGE mark showing that people have been on the rails. I have to say you guys are crazy, but yet awesome. Been watching alot of your chernobyl/pripyat videos and I have to say they're awesome. I've been fascinated by chernobyl when I learned about it in school. It's a place I would like to visit someday. Your motorized railcart is awesome. Hope you guys recovered it. In the future hopefully you'll use the cart in future videos riding and exploring other abandoned tracks. Though the USSR is now gone, but since pripyat is a ghost town frozen in time. I just wanted to say good luck comrades as it would have been something said during those times.

For me, my interest in Pripiyat began after I’d gotten 3/4 into Fallout 3 many years ago. Especially after playing FONV. Radiation is such an insidious threat because you can’t perceive it with any senses unless it’s in super high doses.
Without the Geiger counter my Lone Wanderer, Courier and later Sole Survivor and Resident would be sick or die.
Then there is what radiation does to living things. Horrifying.

The clicking sound in the box at the railroad crossing, is probably the electromechanical blinker thing that can make the lights flash.
It might even be that if you short out the two rails, that the crossing will activate. The draisine has plastic wheels so it can't trigger it unless there's a particularly sensitive axle counter nearby.

Would have much more fun with an engine phutting away on that cart. I wonder if prypiat still has a train station?

The plant itself does, and I think it’s still being used. It runs from Slavutych->Semikhody. If you’re on that train and nobody knows who you are, though, you’re going to be meeting a guard at the other end for sure. It’s supposed to be only for the workers, although I did hear some tour guides might be able to arrange something.

25:23 dude might actually have some serious issues. He couldn't get the saw running then get mad at the group bc he's so small and went after them with the saw to scare them... To try and emasculate them down to his size if you will.

There might have been a camera at the abandoned railway crossing. It was at the top of the post facing the electric control box you examined.

I would put small plows in front of the wheels to push snow or debris to the side. This can also increase speed and traction.

You guys didn't expect that to happen. when the snow on the tracks is fresh you make tracks that are easily detected by anyone. and since you are traveling on tracks the security service can just wait for you at a point with no tracks knowing you have to get there at some point. As was said earlier the only thing missing was the rap beat coming from speakers on your cart. Well done Guys maybe next time you will use speakers and sub woofers on it :-)
