If you are 100% sure it isn't a water line. Then you are the new owner of a spring that just popped up in the middle of your feed lot.
dad has lived here over 30 years and it just started coming up the last 3 years
@@SonneFarms Springs are a good sign. Its not unheard of to have one pop up if they are common in the area. It is usually a good sign the aquifers in your area are healthy. Hope you and the family are having a great Christmas.
I agree with your suggestion above but Is it possible that the source may be a crushed and blocked land drain which is causing the water to boil up to the surface and cause a flood and a huge mess? How far is this location from your other artesian cattle drinker on the farm?
Is there a suitable location where water might be drained to successfully all year round at a reasonable distance away? If so digdown when the soil is at its driest and install a large rock sump with a drainage pipe into the sump leading at a suitable fall to somewhere appropriate as an outfall. Dan.

I recall that you didn't have a dump truck until you bought "Dumpy". If memory services me right the seller lived in Iowa and they delivered it about halfway between his place and your place. Often its not easy to meet someone like that. But, having lived in Iowa for several , I know that there's an overabundance of good people, if that's even possible. I'm 76 and continue to emulate the good people of Iowa. I also know that many of the states in the Midwest are just the same as Iowa!
Thats correct, it would have been almost 6 hours one way but he met us in Le Mars. Helped a lot!

Having a natural spring on the property would be a godsend to many. Just not in the middle of a cattle pen!

You put ur left foot in and take your right foot out, you put your right foot in and then you shake them all about. You take your work pants off and put the flame to legs and butt, yeah, that’s what it’s all about! Love you guys!
It could be an underground spring that created its own well. Like the other one you guys have. We had one from in our lots as well.
If you want to control the water you may need to put in a field drain and run it out into a pond or low spot you can use to water your cattle. The water is probably just as clean as your well.
@@jessjohnson5572 to do that properly is to put a pipe in the ground around the water coming out and put a pipe onto that to direct it. That wouldn’t work around the cattle cause they are very curious animals plus it is right next to the ally that they use to run the cattle through to get them from point A to point B and then back to point A. When we had this problem, we dug a trench trench about 4 or 5 feet down and put the pipe in at a gradual slope to a ditch. Doing that did away with our issue. That is expensive to do and due it correctly which I know they could do it, but it’s going to disrupt their setup to do it that way and plus they don’t really have anywhere to discharge the water.

Cole, Maybe, only a suggestion. Dig a 6’-8’ hole at the spring, then a 1’ wide trench a few feet deep to drain. Fill with gravel and create a French drain. Unless while you’re digging the hole you’ll find a leaking pipe no one knew about.

😆Loved the video, I hope that very wet area isn't a continuing occurrence. Cole that tight cap reminded me of how my dad did things. I broke off many a bolt head cause Dad didn't think I could get it tight enough, " I have about your same frame", I know what Brian tight is. Dad learned to not test me on if things were tight enough or not even though this would have been a better suited comment on a different video. Maybe it's because this is the holiday season that this video made me think of my Dad, 20 years after he passed. Don't take a day for granted, they all matter. Thanks for the video!

A friend of mine has a farm and does a lot of equipment repairs. He is always dropping tools and they always seem to get back under the hardest places. He took a rare earth magnet and fastined it to an old broom handle and now he doesn't have to crawl under equipment when the tool drops.
As a child that consumed tv and movies in the 1970’s, I thought sinking in quicksand would be a much bigger issue throughout my life. Cole, your sinking in the feed lot just awakened those long dormant fears.

I’d say the wet spot is caused by a broken drain tile, that’s my guess. Take the mini out there and dig until you find it!
Shouldn’t drain tile only run water when it rains though?
@@kurt3543 no it just maintains the water table at the level the tile is installed at. If there’s water coming from somewhere in the line that’s higher elevation there would be water flowing through. If the line is damaged there or has settled creating a low spot in the line then the water will find a way out.

Your cable clamp is on backwards. The piece that has the holes in it that the u bolt goes through is the saddle , the old saying is never saddle a dead horse. The saddle goes over the continuous side of the cable not the piece with the end.
we double clamp those cables one goes up the other down.
Well I'm sure these clamps aren't life threatening but on the cable of a tow truck it is!!! I was just throwing it out there.
On wire rope clamps good rule of thumb never saddle a dead horse or the bitter end !!

Cole I stepped in frozen mud/manure with my barn boots on carrying 2 - 5 gal buckets of grain to the calves, had to step right out of my boots to keep from being mauled by the calves😂😂😂 I can laugh about it 50 years later!😂 so funny that you Set Your pants on 🔥 😂😂😂😂! Another Good reason to have a flame thrower😂😂😂😂😂

When you are putting a clamp on a cable, the saddle of the clamp should go on the main part of the cable not the tag end, what you are using it for it will be just fine! I wasn't trying to be critical, keep the videos coming!@@SonneFarms

You might want to dig down and see what’s there. If it’s like spring you could put wearing tile or some kind of piping down there to divert the water out of the pen so you could use it for a possible water source if it’s a spring. Which it looks like it is.
