In these days of low combine losses, and corn breeding that focuses on the ear rather than the stalk, it doesn’t seem like there’s much left for the cows from afar. Then look at the condition of the cows, after being on the cornstalks for a month. Filled out, strong, ready for calving. The Sonnes know how to manage their herd. Just look! 👍

Loved hearing the history of the older structures and why they are better than the newer ones! Although, along with that those new lights are great. Brian, I would have taken the number 13 just because I like Halloween. I love Brians humor and you understanding most of it, it would seem. The cold is coming, and this is where you guys show your toughness! I think Brian raised you right. 😉

Another great Sonne teamwork video. As I have watched these over the years, it is amazing the knowledge Brian is passing on to Cole based of his years of experience and the planning and forethought that comes from these ( prepping barn for calving having experienced storms in the past, determining when to buy hay with drought situations or when to sell cattle, etc). This cannot be learned from books and Cole is so fortunate to have such an amazing mentor and father. Wishing you all the best during calving season.

Project Idea!!! Some late fall after harvest/before calving, go through your home barn, Cole, and create some open concept-ish calving barn layout. Fill in the concrete where you need to to be able to use the skiddy over all of it, re-enforce the structure, refurbished gate for your skiddy, turn those feed pens at the back into calving pens, etc...

There is nothing in this world like an old wood barn.
5+8=13 but 8-5=3 and 5-8=-3. This could go on, the point is how you look at something like the tractor going this way and it also goes that way.
Watching you guys move some really good lookin’ beevos while picking out another batch of good ol Oklahoma pecans for the freezer. I like this member thang goin’ on.
Weather folks saying we might get some snow later this week too. I hope so. We need some frozen stuff on the ground. But they don’t know.
Thanks for sharing your hard work. Thanks for feeding people.

I realise that any cattle that don’t comply go for a ride to town but you have a nice line of cattle, all the same I like that. And the right colour too.
And when you are trying to get them out of the bush they don’t call them cows for nothing 🫣
You should thank your lucky stars you don’t have hills.
They always go to the top back corner without fail especially the calves. You know the one that can’t see the open gate its mother just went through!!!!

My Great-grand father had a farm in Dakota Territory/South Dakota. He had two barns, one for cattle, one for sheep during the winter. He placed chickens in the hay lofts which kept the sheep and cattle calm. I never asked my grandparents, why the chicken kept the animals calm, I knew, WHY.

That is the reason you will be happy you chose that size mini-excavator. One of these days you'll need to get it into a really small area and when you find that "magic number" on the tape, you'll be saying it fits! when you take the measurement. It may be tomorrow, it may be next year. Eventually your going to need it.
