Thank you. I don't have diabetes or prediabetes, but up to 80% of us still get blood sugar spikes. I do. But they are waning in frequency and strength. Even to the point of disappearing. But I still act to prevent diabetes.
Shotgun pellets may hit what a bullet misses. What I mean is that a combination of methods is surely better that only one. So, I have learned to take a teaspoon or two of vinegar in a half cup of water within 30 minutes before eating. Rinse your mouth afterward to protect tooth enamel. Then eat veggies first, protein second and minimal carbohydrates last. Drinking a glass of water is also said to lower blood sugar. I wait for 1 hour after a meal before having coffee, as it can otherwise deplete iron, which only induces fatigue and compounds the fatigue caused by a blood sugar spike. I add a half teaspoon of cinnamon to the coffee as well. It is known to lower blood sugar.
Some 30 minutes after a meal I do 40 squats, 40 push-ups and 40 pull-ups on a 45-degree machine I have. Or I sometimes just run on the spot (stationary running) for a few minutes instead. I have read that blood sugar is beneficially taken from the blood for the muscles when we exercise. I also add some simple acupressure moves that are featured for diabetics here on UA-cam by a Japanese lady. UA-cam search 'acupressure diabetes' to find it.
Magnesium is also reported to be helpful in quelling blood sugar spikes. But since magnesium has multiple health benefits, I also take it.
Cooking, refrigerator cooling, and then reheating rice and potatoes also lowers their glycemic index. Or, the cooled potatoes can be eaten with salad instead of reheating. Bread can also be put in the refrigerator and then toasted. Both cooling and toasting bread lowers its glycemic index. Feeling great. Get proactive and prevent diabetes. Or lower your condition into reverse in only a few months. Win yourself that prize!

Hey there Tom! I came across your channel and wanted to congratulate you on the tremendous job you are doing to impact lives in such an awesome way. I sincerely send my well wishes of GOOD HEALTH to you and everyone within your community! I agree with you 100%, healthy nutrition is definitely a key factor, which requires us to modify traditional recipes; we can replace sugars with sweeteners that are proven not to spike glucose & blood sugar levels, reduce carbs, and totally substitute refined flours and bread products with tasty low carb alternatives. We can still enjoy delicious meals while eating healthy. Stay blessed and healthy my friend! 💖

Excellent recipes! For the Tuna Salad: Remember to look at the ingredients of your pickles. Especially in the US, those contain A Lot of added sugar or (the horror) artificial sweeteners, maybe not the best choice to add as a juice to the salad. In countries where the pickles are actually fermented (some EU countries) the juice is safe, healthy and delicious.
You can also add canned cod liver to the salad, for some added omegas.
For the cauliflower: I like to toss that in the airfryer. Crispy goodness!

I do a chopped salad with avocado, Roma tomato and cucumber and carrot (peeling skin off cucumber and carrot), romaine lettuce, garlic, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper and garlic powder (I love garlic). I can eat this daily and love that I don't have to heat up the kitchen cooking. I sometimes add other things especially fruits like chopped apple if I am out of avocado and lemon juice.

I'm a type 1 diabetic without insulin (for now). I recently found out that any salad combined with olives, garlic, feta, tuna, walnuts, cucumber and roma tomatoes makes a very tasty combination even without any dressing. It also contains a ton of calories thanks to a lot of healthy fats and there are only very small amounts of carbs in the nuts/cucumber/tomatoes. All ingredients are supposed to contain substances that help suppress inflammation (in case you hope to protect what's left of the pancreas) and improve cardiovascular health.

Sprinkle some grated edam cheese on top an d then bake them. Eat warm or let cool completely and store in the fridge. They make a great breakfast or add some salad and have them for lunch.

For anyone in the US looking to make these recipes, please note that the coriander here is what we call cilantro. In the US, the only coriander we have is the seed, the herb of the plant is called cilantro. On another note, I have had type 1 for about 13 years now and have been low carb from the beginning. I would still need to bolus for these meals, even though they are low carb. I think once I started ketosis, I noticed that I needed to bolus for protein and fat even with minimal carbs. Of course, I don't need to bolus very much, maybe 3-5 units depending on how much protein is in the meal. If one is not low carb, I am pretty sure that they probably would not need to bolus. These look very tasty! Especially the chicken curry soup!

I just discovered Sola bread, I think it's 3 net carbs per slice. Maybe you could try that? If you get bread cravings. I can get it at my Walmart but it sells out fast. The slices are smaller than other breads, it is not made with almond flour, I don't like almonds, so it tastes good to me, I think it's made from some kind of bean? You can Google it. It's under $5 for a loaf, cheaper than other breads that CLAIM to be diabetic friendly but full of carbs.

I tried the fried cauliflower rice with carrots, onions, garlic and sweet peas mix it with some bit of low soy sauce and a pinch of salt all cooked together in a pan and it was delicious then what i expected.

Tom is so faithful and committed in making a difference for so many people who are managing diabetes. Healthy nutrition is a key factor in the journey to good health. I happen to agree with you 100% regarding bland food! The good news is we don't have to forsaken delicious taste and flavor... we can eat healthy and still enjoy many of our favorite dishes by modifying traditional recipes. Substitute sugars with sweeteners that won't spike your blood sugar levels, reduce carbs, and eliminate refined flours and bread products by replacing these items with tasty low carb alternatives. @@lindaguida4074 Some diabetics, who have very mild diabetes, or who do a lot of exercise maybe, can have moderate quantities of bread.
However, basically meals which include bread, oats, rice, potatoes etc are not low in carbohydrates & usually if you have diabetes you need to eat a diet that is low in carbohydrates. I used to eat wholemeal bread daily but do not seem able to do so any more & now it is something I allow myself to have one slice of as a treat, but not everyday.
It is annoying & the variation in the information available I find confusing but I guess it is the same as everything else, people & the conditions they have vary considerably. The advice would be, I guess, is that you need to go by your test results. If your blood sugar tests come back OK & what you eat is nutritious, I guess you are eating appropriately.
There is a channel called Beat Diabetes, where the presenter eats different foods & tests his blood-sugar before & after so you can get an idea of the effect of different foods from that. Also looking up the amount of carbohydrates that are in different foods can be helpfull.
I was given advice by a qualified dietician that a lunch of a wholemeal bread, whole egg sandwich, with salad was a healthy meal for someone with diabetes but the tests I have had indicate otherwise. So go by test results not well meaning advice.

I'm afraid your meals won't work for those of us who eat a low carb diet. They contain too much produce and too little meats and way too little fats. I allow myself two half cup servings of very low carb fresh vegetables per day with a total carb count of 12 or less daily. Your servings are too large and tomatoes and peppers are medium carb foods that need to be limited in amounts served. You should never eat regular bread. One carb per slice protein bread is acceptable and in some areas keto bread with zero carbs is available. My normal diet is eggs and pork for breakfast although on occasion I make one carb per cake pancakes. Lunches if I eat them are any of a variety of foods(sardines, tuna, salmon, chicken, cheese, boiled eggs). Dinner is a meat or seafood and two half cup servings of low carb vegetables. Tonight is going to be pizza. Crisp crust made from eggs and cheese and prebaked, covered with a tbl or two of low carb pasta sauce, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, black olives, a small amount of peppers and onions, olive oil and both mozzarella and parm cheese. Tastes as good as anything you can buy at the pizza place and fresh made in a short time in my kitchen. Your ideas are good but need a bit of adjustment to get the vegetables reduced and meats and fats increased to be far healthier meals. The smaller produce amounts will also help with weight reduction if needed to reduce insulin requirements.

So don’t eat it? Create your own channel.
It’s a little presumptuous to criticize someone who has taken the time to produce content for diabetics that is both delicious, varied, and spot on for those who just want to avoid the dreaded glucose spike.
It is never a one size fits all, which anyone monitoring their blood sugar knows by now.

    • @haroldgreen1425
      @haroldgreen1425 3 місяці тому

@@truth-alwayswins I'm not criticizing you I'm simply trying to correct an unhealthy diet plan. Low glycemic is not the best way to eat for diabetes. Low carb will do far more to maintain your health. And the more you need to control diabetes the more you need to eat fats in your diet to provide energy that you're lacking on a low sugar diet. Butter, eggs, cheese should be included in every days meal plan. All vegetables should be reduced and replaced with meats and seafoods. Ultimately for many people a carnivore diet is the most healthy way to eat for a diabetic. The emphasis should always be on meats and vegetables should be a minor part of meals.

Since you mentioned cocktail sauce here is an appetizer I'm sure you will like. Take a whole avocado and slice a bit of the bottom so it sits upright. Then cut the top to reveal the seed. Pull out the seed and then fill the cavity with cocktail sauce and place the fat ends of three cold boiled shrimp tails in the sauce so the fat ends are in the sauce but the rest is upright. Eat the shrimp and use extra cocktail sauce to mix with the avocado and eat and enjoy. A nice low carb shrimp cocktail.
Also, if you have an Aldi's near you, it is a great source for berries all year. My breakfasts usually consists of strawberries, blue berries, black berries, and raspberries in yogurt lightly flavored with honey.
