    I've really enjoyed Carlos at Ferrari. Not only is he close with Leclerc but he is seems to have a really positive presence to him, which seems to be rubbing off in the Ferrari garage, the banter over the radio, him also being smart with race strategies. He has also finished ahead in the standings out of 2/3 seasons he has been with Ferrari, even if they were close. I feel like it would be quite dirty by Ferrari to not give him a respectable contract.

      He has finished ahead in the standings in 1 season. 2021. In 2021, Leclerc had a DNS in Monaco, engine issue in Britain and pitted too late in Turkey. Sainz only had the Turkey pit stop problem. Leclerc was better than Sainz, and if they had the same amount of luck, the standings would've reflected that. 2022: It was not close. Leclerc crushed Sainz. 2023: Leclerc had a DNS in Brazil, didn't get the tow when he was ahead of Sainz in qualifying in both sessions beforehand and considering how close they were at the end, if he'd had the tow and pole, Leclerc would've been third, shouldn't have gotten the penalty in Monaco which lost him a couple positions, and lost another podium in Bahrain. Despite all that and Sainz just getting the engine failure in Qatar and penalty in Las Vegas, Leclerc still beat Sainz.
      Leclerc is on another level.

There's no doubt he's still one of the absolute elites on the track, as shown by him putting the AM onto the podium regularly when it was competitive. My highlight was his duel with Perez in Brazil though. That was simply magic.

      Academies are more about getting the money to even compete in F2/F3, those series cost a fortune just to participate in for a single season. Nobody dreams of driving a Williams these days, yet there are several drivers in their academy. It's all about securing funding, otherwise your F1 dream is over before it ever even began. RB is a goldmine for this, they are absolutely the biggest investors in junior racing.

    Albon replacing Sainz at Ferrari makes sense. Right now Sainz and Leclerc want cars with different characteristics and we saw this year how developing the car towards one driver's style led to a drop in performance in the other driver -- it's like having 2 people pulling in opposite directions. Albon and Leclerc like similar type of cars -- on the nose, lots of oversteer, which happens to make very fast cars -- so Ferrari's car development won't be so conflicted.

    The thing is, watch carefully Formula 2 this season. That will be key in deciding seats in 2025 and 2026. One driver to keep a particular eye on is Zak O'Sullivan. He has the ART seat, and is a Williams junior. Obviously Bearman, Kimi and Martins are the favourites, but with Logan Sargeant struggling, and Albon possibly looking at a seat at a faster team, Williams could be very interesting in 25-26.
    Also keep an eye on Japanese Super Formula. That's a really interesting one. The 'danger man', Ritomo Miyata, who beat Liam Lawson to the 2023 title has been removed by Toyota, along with another top competitor, Ryo Hirakawa. Currently, there's only one foreign driver competing in the series, Theo Pourchaire. Both he and Ayumu Iwasa have a great chance to take the title there. Tomoki Nojiri and Sho Tsuboi are the only real top competitors from last season that have carried on, and Nojiri is not getting any younger.

      Doohan proved his mettle by dominating his teammate and clinching third in F2 this year with a team considered to be much weaker than the likes of Prema and ART in recent seasons. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽 Aldas, I’ve been following you since 2021 and I really like your videos, keep the great job!
    It’s interesting how some channels think about Checo as a midfield driver, I mean, I agree he’s not at champion level but in my opinion, he’s above the midfield drivers but below the title contenders (something between). He has been one of the few drivers capable of dealing with the second RB seat (which I think is the hardest one in F1), he made mistakes but also drove a car not suited for him, delivering great results for the team even with the 2023 irregular season; anyone else replacing him will struggle with the same issues, so it needs to be someone mentally strong enough to deal with that
    As for the lineup possibilities, I’d like to share what I would like to see rather than predict, so it’d be nice to see Checo driving for Mercedes, Ferrari or at least Sauber in 2025 but honestly, I think Sauber or something similar are the ones most likely to happen…
    Besides that, it’d be interesting to see Norris driving for Red Bull, to confirm if he can manage the pressure of being the second RB driver and if he can really fight with Max for the driver’s championship knowing that Max is the top priority for the team, that would be very interesting 🤔
    As for the rest of the grid, I hope everyone can find the best place for their careers 🙏🏼

If Ferrari are going to develop the car that will get the best performance from Leclerc (who they tied down to a massive long-term contract if rumors are true) they won't get the best performance from Sainz. Some things I want to add to this:
    1: Yes, Checo finished second this season. But that he only managed to wrap it up in the second to last race in one of the most dominant cars in F1 history, and more by Lewis and Mercedes falling off in the final few races than by his own power, is all you need to know. Especially considering RB's treatment of drivers that underperform, his seat is far from safe.
    2: Lawson already confirmed he will not return to AlphaTauri. For him, it's Red Bull or nothing.
    3: Ferrari's dynamic is actually pretty good right now, with Charles obviously being their star driver and Carlos being a driver good enough to push Charles on his day. Reminds me of the Hamilton/Bottas dynamic at Mercedes. That one worked pretty well, and Ferrari would be madly stupid to risk that.
    4: Aston Martin will always be handicapped just by Lance Stroll being there. His seat is all but guaranteed, and he may be a solid midfield driver, but as we just saw this past season, he is just not able to keep up with the drivers he should be around in better machinery. Just one look at the drivers standings proves this. He is miles off of drivers like Russell, Leclerc, Sainz and Norris and he even finished behind a rookie with Piastri. Man is just not made for fighting at the front in F1.
    5: Alpine have a sort of weird line up. Pretty evenly matched, with similar carrers, but just not both on that level to build a team around. If any of these both, I would bet my money on Gasly though.
    6: Williams would be stupid not to keep Alex. He is a valuable asset, steered the evolution this team made and made the team his own. Both sides would be crazy to separate. Sargeant is not that safe though. Rookies like Vesti or Antonelli would be a good pick though, would not be the first Mercedes rookie to excel at Williams and rial up the grid. Just watch the old GTG episode with the team principals from 2021, where multiple teams named George as the driver they would put in a third car if they were allowed.
    7: Sauber is a tricky one. They have a junior in Pourchaire, that is now a Formula 2 champion and obviously will want to force his way onto the grid. And as much as I like him, I think Valtteri is in the final year(s) of his F1 carreer and will have to make way. Zhou is well bedded in this team and had his highlights, he just needs some fine tuning, especially with his race starts.
    8: Haas is a team that I think resents picking rookies and that rookies will resent signing for after Mazepin and Schumacher. If either Nico or Kevin leave, I think they will more likely be a "collection basin" for leftover experienced driver like maybe Checo or Valtteri than being considered by a rookie like Bearman for example.

      Just to clarify 2. Lawson was guaranteed an f1 seat for 2025, it didn't matter if it was AT or RB, because realistically, if he was to go into the RB, it's another gasly/albon situation, most likely whoever performs better between Danny and Yuki will go into the RB 25 seat and if Danny gets bodied by Yuki, Iwasa and Lawson will likely take the AT 25 seat. And 6. Unless Williams make considerable progress to maybe proper midfield, Albon will likely leave as kinda evidenced by his recent podcast.

    You'd think that Carlos Sainz is "not as good" as Leclerc because Charles Leclerc is the fastest driver in F1 over 1 lap. I'm starting to doubt Him a little bit though as a dominant multiple world champ type, at least with a team like Ferrari. I think Sainz might be a more complete package and a better team leader. Toto Wolff is known to be a Leclerc admirer and I do think He would be a good fit for Mercedes if Lewis decides he's had enough. A Sainz-Albon pairing would be good for Ferrari. I also feel like Pierre Gasly could fit in anywhere in a top car. 2024 is a big year for the two Alpine drivers, and also Tsunoda. He needs to be awesome this year or Ricciardo is getting that RB #2 seat. Lance Stroll should be in a series that plays to his strengths, like WEC. This would free up Aston Martin to take a worthwhile gamble and put Lawson in to learn from being Fernando's team mate.
    Of course these are the things that *should* happen. They probably won't.

    OK, since I love playing this game, I'm gonna go in:
    Red Bull - Verstappen will be joined by Ricciardo (unless Perez makes a massive step-up next year). There are no young drivers ready for top seat and I have doubts about likes of Leclerc or Norris joining in;
    Mercedes - both Hamilton and Russell stay, since former doesn't show any interest in retiring right now;
    Ferrari - both Leclerc and Sainz stay, Ferrari would be idiots if they lose either one of them;
    McLaren - no reason to make any changes here;
    Alpine - Gasly gets contract extension and is joined by Doohan (I hope);
    Aston Martin - as much as I want to say Alonso, I don't know if his body can keep up with his mindset, nor do I know if Stroll will either finally give up or finally step up. Either way, if one of them leaves, Tsunoda gets in there;
    Williams - Albon is staying and is joined by Colapinto. I doubt that Williams will want any other team's junior drivers since their goal is to become more independent once again;
    Whatever Bulls - Lawson will be there, for sure, and I hope that Iwasa is the other one (since I like him the most out of all current RB juniors);
    Kick Sauber F1 - whether or not Audi arrives, Hulkenberg will replace Bottas and his lovely mustache and tushie, while Pourchaire replaces Zhou;
    Haas - they pick up scraps and sign Ocon (because he does have some skill) and Zhou (because money and he's better than Sargeant), since no one in their right mind would trust these idiots with rookies ever again.

    I think that two of the most important drivers bidding for the RB family seats in 2025 and 2026 are both campos drivers, specially Pepe Marti. It is really bizare that after owning like half the F2 seats for a couple of seasons, they suddenly decide to pool out a lot of them and sign an exclusivity agreement with Campos. And being Marti like their franchise driver after being there all of his career, feels like it's very telling hut we can't outrule Hadjar who has shown great speed and promise, and also is the only one who survived the purge in F2.
    For Iwasa I don't feel like there aren't really chances in RB unless he totally decimates Super Formula. Lawson will have one seat in 2025, and with Honda going with Aston Martin on 2026 I don't feel he really has a chance with RB unless he is clearly the best performing young driver and shows absolute speed

But right now any assumptions are like tossing a coin, we have no idea what is going behund the scenes and there have been a lot of talks behind the scenes. The only thing I know for sure is that Alpine would be better without Ocon, and just sing someone who can play for the team like Gasly even if he is slower, Ocon got already beaten by Pierre on his first year, so he is not even the best driver there right now.

      @@ags2989 The thing about Ocon is that he had on track troubles with every single one of his team mates, despite being able to be a likable guy outside the track. It's just that he has an irrational fear and war against his team mate whoever it is and I think that's slowing him down.
      He can be a very good driver, but he isn't showing it enough because for every time he pulls a performance like Monaco, there's an Australia, or a 2022 Hungaroring/South Africa or even this years Bahrain. And on a normal day he is pretty average so he hasn't the talent to justify his shenanigans with his team mates. As we have seen you literally need to be at Verstappen's level to pull that out, and even so he has shown a far greater ability to tolerate or even ocasionally work with his team mate than Ocon. It's a shame because his legacy could be completely different with another attitude, but I can't deny he has given us show and excitement, even if it's in the most drama-circus way possible.

      @@agent6599 He also got out qualified more times on the first season with a team mate that just got into the team. Also the strategy part is kinda arguable, he has been favored a lot of times too over Gasly, and he even ignored team orders in Las Vegas that prevented Alpine from playing the team game and got a lot more points in Las Vegas than his team mate while costing Alpine also a bunch of points, Gasly on the other hand complied in a race when he was the faster of the 2.
      Also which is it. Last year Ocon didn't seem to care about Alonso having a shit ton of DNFs, he still was giving himself the pat in the back and saying he was the better Alpine? Karma, right? Still getting outqualified by a team mate convincingly, getting matched on race days convincingly and failing to establish as a clear numbear one against a newcomer who is comming to His team and is driving a car made to perfectly match Ocon.
      Kind of embarrassing if you try to destroy every team mate even if it means putting them on the wall.
      As said earlier Ocon could be a great driver but he is not even justifying the renovation he got in 2021 when Alpine had a shining junior and a legend getting ready for 2022, which ended in a legendary silly season, which I am thankfull for, and one of the biggest driver line ups fiascos of all time. @@QuimFreecss How did he cost Alpine a lot of points in Las Vegas? You think him staying behind Gasly with an ERS issue would have given the team more points? I remember at the beginning of the season Alpine tried to send Ocon to the end of the race without pitting him till the last lap (Australia-Miami). Alpine strategists in general are probably worse than even Ferrari, but I feel like Ocon’s gotten the shorter end of the stick in terms of it. Also I agree that Alonso performed better than Ocon last season, it’s an argument I often use against people saying Sainz is better than Leclerc (nevertheless it doesn’t diminish the fact that Sainz is an excellent driver, just not on the level of his teammate like Gasly). I will agree that Gasly got the upperhand in quali, but then again quali has been one of Ocon’s weaker areas, and points aren’t made on Saturdays

    Mercedes- George Russell and Esteban Ocon. This is pending if Lewis retires, he's got to sometime, surely, we'll only get one Fernando in our lifetime. Feel like this would be a 1 year deal and they would refigure in 2026.

    Williams- Kimi Antonelli and Frederik Vesti. Or Valtteri Bottas, or Esteban Ocon if Lewis doesn't retire. Both young drivers have a shot to win F2 and could deserve these seats. Valtteri and Esteban could be the veteran presence next to a rookie.
    Racing Bulls- Liam Lawson and Danile Ricciardo. Liam deserves it and its Daniels seat to lose. Iwasa could take the seat from Daniel if he underperforms.
    Sauber- Theo Pourchaire and Nico Hulkenberg. F2 champion and German born driver for Audi.

    Which makes any driver swaps practically irrelevant. As it’ll be any of those four winning the title anyway.

    Here's my take on the drivers market:
    - Stroll has to go. He's very limited as a driver and can't adapt to a car. 3 good races a season don't make you F1 worthy
    - Perez? Not another year like this. Probably replace him with Ricciardo and let Lawson in Alfa Tauri in 2025.
    - Ocon and Gasly will stay as Alpine is French. Would never hire Ocon myself as he always winds up the other driver and doesn't care for the team. He goes rogue
    - Sargeant, *snore* bye bye. Same goes for Zhou and Magnussen. Didn't impress me enough.
    - Albon, hot property. Audi are you watching?
    - Hulkenberg, potentially a solid German driver for Audi.

    Red Bull have Max until 2028. Why would _anyone_ at the level of Lando want to go there until Max has gone? Even if RB decline from '26 onwards (which would be another reason to not go there), Max will undoubtedly be their main focus. Should he retire at the end of '28, which is a possibility, then joining for that year to become accustomed to the team _might_ make sense. But, if the car isn't a WC class one, why go there (unless you don't have a drive elsewhere)? If it is one, would Max really retire?
    That's all just speculation, of course, but it looks possible to me. That 2nd seat won't be going to a potential champion until Max is definitely going to retire.
    (Edit: I don't mean any of the above to be anti-RB or Max in any way. It's just common sense. Max is outstanding, why upset the apple cart? It's only if things happen that we can't predict will my thoughts change.)
