I can't believe someone said you were "too feminine" to be bisexual (& that you couldn't possibly be bi because of it) & maybe it's because I'm a fellow bi but you give off the BIGGEST bisexual energy to me I can't wait for when you publish the novels you're writing, they sound so interesting based on the books you're reading for it 👀💖
akdkskdkc honestly how could they not read my massive bisexual energy??? thank you so much for your excitement about my novels, i can’t wait to write them 🥺
And Then There Were None is SO GOOD! It was the first Agatha Christie I read and it had me guessing the whole time. I hope you get a chance to read it ☺️
My TBR is finishing off the stormlight archive. I was so scared to read it because some people said that the first book was boring until 700 pages, but I fell in love with it instantly. I’m addicted lol.
literally cannot wait for wubwub, i cannot express my excitement fully 😭 i’m also thinking abt tackling percy jackson this summer! but i also have a pretty big tbr anyway, so i’m not sure. i’ll probably pick it up if i’m randomly in the mood one day😌
while researching your arthurian novel, i'd also recommend the lais of marie d'france! they're kind of short poems written by a women that play on similar tropes but also have some commentary on gender :)
just started the lighting thief! been working a lot and my semester isn’t over so i’ve been super overwhelmed so it’s been the perfect cool down book :)
Aaahh. That copy of Le Morte d'Arthur is just stunning. I hadn't heard of The Decagon House Murders before but that's immediately gone onto my tbr. Hope you enjoy your books! ❤️❤️
OMG! KING! I AM BEYOND EXCITED TO SEE YOU READ PERCY JACKSON! This summer I wanna try and read two books a week, if I can't manage, I'll try and read two books one week, and one book another week. Some of the books on my TBR are ”Punching the Air”, ”Concrete Rose”, ”Little Women”, ”1984”, ”The Song Of Achilles” and ”The Hena Wars”! I hope I'll be able to get to all of them and hopefully more. As always you are stunning and I am so glad you posted! Love ya, bestie!
The Song of Achilles is probably my favorite book of all time, so I'm so excited to read She Who Became the Sun, but also a bit nervous. I'm also looking forward to reading Not My Problem by Ciara Smyth, The Heart Principle (The Kiss Quotient, #3), One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston, and The Sky Blues by Robbie Couch. And of course there are a ton of backlisted books I really want to get to as well.
also i'm sooooooo excited for you to read pjo and hoo (and to make your way through the riordanverse) T.T OVER THE MOON EXCITED!!! my emotional support series that got me into reading !!!
please please please keep in mind that percy jackson is made for elementary/middle grade kids!! it’s so sad to see older people read it and dislike it because of the writing when that’s what made it so readable to younger kids, which are the target audience.
I tried reading the series back when I was around 11/12 years old. I managed the first one but gave up with the second book because I did not like the writing style, however, I’ve been wondering if this was due to the translation or the original text.
I always keep in mind about reading middle grade that i’m not the intended audience! people who judge the writing who aren’t the intended age category confuse me 😂 but i’m excited to just reignite my inner child and explore a whole new world!
I’m usually a Fantasy reader but lately I’m craving contemporary so I’ve treated myself to a box set of Alice Osemans novels and the Heartstopper graphic novels. I’m also planning to get the Brown Sisters books.
I moved so fast to put She Who Became the Sun on my TBR! I don't have much of a reading list myself, but these are my top three: A Little Devil in America by Hanif Abdurraqib, Minor Feelings by Cathy Park Hong, and Lost Wax by Jericho Parms (I'm a fiend for essay collections)
I have nearly finished Parachutes by Kelly Yang and it is definitely underrated I would recommend that you add to your tbr. It has a MeToo aspect to it. Some of the books I am planning to read in Summer are: Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender. A Dowry of Blood by S.T. Gibson. The Henna Wars and Hani and Ishu's Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar. In the Ravenous Dark by A.M. Strickland. Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales. The Jasmine Throne (Burning Kingdoms, #1) by Tasha Suri. Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé. Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado
Your novels sound so amazing-lots of luck to your writing and these endeavors. You have such a great TBR, there's so many different genres, authors, etc. It's great to see recommendations that I haven't heard of! Definitely jumping onto She Who Became the Sun (I meannnnnnnnn I already know I'll sob). Thank you so much for your lovely videos and sending good thoughts and fellow badass bi vibes!
omg I never thought I'd hear chinese dramas talked about on booktube! I hope you enjoy Word of Honor; the dynamic between WKX and ZZS (and best boy Cheng Ling, ofc) is INCREDIBLE 😍 someone else in the comments recommended The Untamed, which I also loved, but imo the chemistry in Word of Honor is just unbeatable
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours but I already subscribed!! You seem so sweet and have such a fun and intelligent personality❤️❤️ also your books are 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 ahaha
woah so excited for your thoughts on percy jackson! i can’t believe i haven’t heard of hani and ishu’s guide before this video but it’s in my shopping cart as i type
loll literally put the decagon house murders on my tbr !! mmm a summer book recommendation would be somewhere between bitter and sweet by laekan zea kemp, which i read a few months ago and gave five stars! it's a contemporary YA with latine characters; a novel about love- love of food and the making of it, love of a community who uphold each other, love of family and the weight of it, first love, and the love our minds make difficult to show to our own selves. trigger warnings for mentions of self-harm, anxiety, and depression tho! a book off my summer tbr is these feathered flames by alexandra overy, which was pitched as a YA retelling of russian folklore with court politics of twin sister hiers and a f/f enemies to lovers romance!!
Excited to hear your thoughts on interview with a vampire that and the vampire lestat and the queen of the damned are one of my favorite trio of books, I stopped at like 6th one so def want to get back to the series bc Anne Rice is just iconic. Excited you're finally getting to Percy Jackson too. And wow the decagon house murders sounds so mysterious and fun!
My friend and I are doing a re-read of the Vampire Chronicles series this year and it's reminding me how much I love it!! Interview is good but the next one, The Vampire Lestat, is def my favorite. I think Lestat is close to being one of my favorite literary characters of all time
Just finished Eve Brown yesterday and it was AMAZING! My favorite in the series! Hope you enjoy it!! Same with interview with a vampire! One of my favorite vampire books ever!!
this was posted like a week ago and i’m only getting around to watching it now but joel said “i have to read it (talking about interview with a vampire) or our friendship is at stake” STAKE. VAMPIRES...STAKES AND VAMPIRES. i’m hilarious
I love Interview!! I'm in the middle of the series right now- currently reading the 5th book. Most fans says the initial trilogy is the best and so far I agree but I'm also just here for following Lestat and the other characters. It's crazy how much Interview impacted vampires and vampire lore in pop culture! I was watching The Vampire Diaries for the first time when reading Interview and I was like, wow! okay, yeah- Anne Rice is the blueprint! Then I proceeded to watching video essays on how it changed the landscape of vampire fiction. And I absolutely love how nonchalant the characters attractions and romantic and sexual relations are!
i’m so excited for this summer, i have so so many books to read (currently reading the Southern Reach Trilogy) especially cause i fiNALLY GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL 🤩 gotta read a ton before college
Ahh! Yes to the Mabinogion! Also if you haven't seen, there's a retelling for kids called The Mab coming out next Spring from Unbound - you should definitely check it out :-)
Would be really looking forward to your review of Merlin and how it holds up to the original literature if/when you do it! I know you are a booktuber but I honestly love when u review tv series like how u did the Winx saga bc ur so gd entertaining hahaha
also i want to read the brown sisters trilogy over summer, as well as a few 2021 releases like red tiger by amelie wen zhao and perfect on paper by sophie gonzales!
Love these selections!! My current plans for the Summer (though it'll be Winter here haha) are catching up on Casey McQuiston, the Kyoshi books, Adiba Jaigirdar's books too because I absolutely love the concepts and catching up on some TBR vets that I've had on my shelves for a million years like Shadow and Bone, and Eliza and her Monsters :D
My sister has a copy of Interview With A Vampire in Russian and i feel it mocking me whenever I see it. So that, and this video finally convinced me to get around to reading it 😅
I would love to see a video comparing BBC Merlin to the original stories! I’m doing a rewatch of the show right now, and I’ve wondered just how much they’ve deviated
I just bought The Final Empire today and I’m really excited to get into it!! This summer I’m planning on finishing The Poppy War trilogy and the Scythe trilogy, and I also really want to read The Ones We’re Meant to Find (I love sci-fi/dystopian!) and She Who Became the Sun, because The Song of Achilles still haunts me. 🥲
This edition of le morte d’Arthur is soooooo beautiful omg... really makes me want to read more folkore and more ‘ancient’ classics... Also, if you want a sci fi rec: you should check out winter’s orbit by everina maxwell (murder mystery + political conspiracy + slow burn romance, it’s really good!)
She Who Became the Sun is my most anticipated of the year along with the other members of the sapphic trifecta - The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri and The Unbroken by C. L. Clark
hoping to read the house of impossible beauties by joseph cassara (rec'd by my fav adri from perpetualpages), disability visibility edited by alice wong, and love after the end edited by joshua whitehead.
I'm so excited for you and your educational journey. Getting a masters changed my life and I hope it does the same for you. I'm excited to see what you end up writing. Interview with A Vampire is really good but the 2nd book in the series Vampire Lestat is my favorite. Lestat is the best villian to love to hate. I can't wait for Hani and Ishu! I have it coming through my library app in a week! Being bi is definitely hard. Bi-erasure is real and as we head into June I hope to be able to read more books with bi representation among others. Thank you as always for the amazing suggestions!
Omg, Le Morte De Arthur has been a work in progress for me for ages! It's good, but Ibfu d the French to English translation a it challenging. I love Interview with a Vampire 🧛♂️😍 If you get the chance, I reccomend the whole series. Definitely a favorite!
I also have not read Percy Jackson yet, and I need to get on it. I just bought The Seed Keeper by Diane Wilson, from what I understand it's an Indigenous story about healing and discovering your roots. I've heard some really amazing things about it and I'm excited to read it! I also got City and Brass and I'm reading An Ember in the Ashes right now and loving it! The book I will forever recommend since reading it earlier this year, is Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley! If you haven't read it, it's such a gorgeous book!
Hani and Ishu's guide to fake dating sounds really interesting and cute, def my kind of a book. I will buy it, too. And that paperback is adorable! :))
I am glad to hear that you will be reading Interview with the Vampire. A long time ago I watched the movie first and loved it which made me read the book. I have read all those books up to The Vampire Armand. Someday I will go back to her series. I didn't care for the fourth book which was The Body Thief, it was for me at the time too slow and when I read it I was a teenager. For this month I did take a book from your last upload, I believe, and it was The Travelling Cat Chronicles. I am already on page 25. For the rest of the month I am reading Fable by Adrienne Young which is my Buzzwordathon book, plus perfect for summer, Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix, A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Bird Box by Norman Malerman, The Infinity Courts by Akemi Dawn Bowman, and The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas. That's most of them, I feel I am leaving out one or two. Enjoy your books this month and congratulations as well as good luck earning your master's degree. 😊❤️❤️❤️
Ok I’m here mostly for the wuxia drama comment and that your friend’s name is also Tia. Watch The Untamed and 10 Miles of Peach Blossoms after. They’re my all time favourites.
Word of Honor is amazing! If you have not yet seen it, then also watch the Untamed - It's absolutely gorgeous😍 Also, what an amazing TBR - She Who Became the Sun goes right on my TBR!❤️ You'll not be disappointed by Rick Riordan's works, Percy Jackson has been such a huge part of my childhood and is still to this day the book series that I re-read the most.
you have now inspired me to reread Percy Jackson & read She Who Became the Sun!!!! loving the content bestie & I'm sending u good vibes about getting into your masters program 💘💗💓💕
Grad school is fun. 😂😂 I'm doing library science because 1. Library work is FASCINATING. And 2. I hate the interpretation aspect to being an English major. It made me dislike reading for awhile there. The fact that I still do it habitually while reading makes me so angry. I truly do hope it all goes well for you, though. Brain stretching is fun!!!!! Also: SO MANY ICONIC LINES. thank you for what is (to me) many a late night laugh.
OMG i need to know your thoughts on the expanse series. My brother is begging me to read it but I'm really not sure it's my jam, would you recommend it?
Ohhhh if you liked the homoerotic aspects of the Interview with a Vampire movie you're so gonna love the book! It baffles me that it isn't really famous for being hella gay - it has the vibe of the movie times 10 (and is also more explicit lol)
I can't believe someone said you were "too feminine" to be bisexual (& that you couldn't possibly be bi because of it) & maybe it's because I'm a fellow bi but you give off the BIGGEST bisexual energy to me
I can't wait for when you publish the novels you're writing, they sound so interesting based on the books you're reading for it 👀💖
akdkskdkc honestly how could they not read my massive bisexual energy??? thank you so much for your excitement about my novels, i can’t wait to write them 🥺

You are a bisexual booktube icon tbh and we love to see it ❤️
🥺🥺🥺 i’m glad you think so
Oh! Im so excited to read the Taking of Jake Livingston as well!

And Then There Were None is SO GOOD! It was the first Agatha Christie I read and it had me guessing the whole time. I hope you get a chance to read it ☺️
I’m gonna have to get it at some point!
Your novels sound absolutely stunning! Love the inspiration books you've chosen too. Best of luck with it all!
eeee thank you 🥺
I'm rereading the entire Rick Riordan universe this year. Finishing up Percy Jackson now and moving on to the Heroes of Olympus.
me too! i'm on blood of olympus now
oooh i’m excited to get to them!!
hearing people talk about WIP gets me absolutely psyched! Pumped for everything coming x
My TBR is finishing off the stormlight archive. I was so scared to read it because some people said that the first book was boring until 700 pages, but I fell in love with it instantly. I’m addicted lol.

My reaction😻 when I see Ghanaian authors out there! I’m definitely picking up His Only Wife because you’d be reading it

Ohhhh if you liked the homoerotic aspects of the Interview with a Vampire movie you're so gonna love the book! It baffles me that it isn't really famous for being hella gay - it has the vibe of the movie times 10 (and is also more explicit lol)
