The green bone saga is so, so good! It’s so underrated. I thought Jade City was incredible but Jade War managed to be even more amazing. Anden’s character arc is fenomenal, I can’t wait to see into what role he’ll grow in Jade Legacy.
My favourite books of 2020: • the long way to a small, angry planet (the representation, the wholesomeness!) • Humankind. A hopeful history (my favorite non-fiction) • Warbreaker (my first Sanderson - so gooood!) • The Poet X (I love the audiobook, 10/10 would re-read, also: I cried so hard at the end) • Emma (a classic?? On *my* list??) • A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (how did I sleep on this for so long?)
all the books you talk about are books I don't read but really want to read, I just seem to forget about them?? and then you come along and remind me, so THANK YOU
joel's favourite books of 2020, alternatively titled sappho's library's tbr (other than the loml cemetery boys). seeing you talk about these books has me even more excited to pick them all up!!
This made me even more excited to get to Jade War this year because I enjoyed Jade City so much. I need to track it down. Also need to read Cemetery Boys soon and have added The Space Between Worlds to my TBR. Great video as always :)
witches steeped in gold is SUCH a stunning looking novel and i cannot wait to pick it up! and jade city, these violent delights, and this is how you lose the time war are on my tbr for 2021 that i should be getting to VERY soon and im SO pumped
I am so glad An Ember In The Ashes was one of your favorite books for 2020. I read both 3 and 4 in the series in 2020. And they were tied for my #1 book of 2020. So I can't wait to see what you think of the rest of the series. Great picks. Have a great Friday and Weekend.
Omg I’m so happy you’re reading the an ember in the ashes series! I just finished the last book and let me tell you you’re in for quite the emotional rollercoaster ;)
Such amazing books! Glad you had amazing stories to devour in 2020🌈 I wish you a lovely 2021, full of great things in life and lovely books! I read An Ember in the Ashes years ago and it completely blew my mind. THE POPPY WAR IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVEEESSS! Witches? Oh, I'm definitely writing that one down!
Me: opens UA-cam, sees Joel uploaded video, start immediately, I mean come on, I have to watch this amazing human... Joel: Talks about his favorite books, in a mesmerizing and entertaining enthousiastic way... Me: puts all the books in my chart, sells here kidney and put the books on her TBR... Thanks Joel I think you're awesome and so kind, really enjoy all you're videos, I mean that editing 👌😍💕 with a little background music, just the best! I hope you've gonna have an amazing 2021 reading year and keep up the good work and please please stay so passionate about stories, greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱👌💕
OOOOOOOH I just did a little dance when I saw you had The Adventure Zone in your honorable mentions!!!!! I’m in love with the podcast and love the graphic novels too!!
I was literally reading ‘take a hint, Dani Brown’ because I was curious of it from one of your recent videos then I saw you post. i paused my reading for this, don’t regret it ❤️
Awe Cemetery Boys.. I love this book so much. My favorite ya of last year!! Raybearer was outstanding!! Poppy Wars so good I still need to finish the series!! My two Favorite books that are not on your list is legend born! And The House In The Cerulean Sea!!
I liked Take a Hint, Dani Brown but I definitely enjoyed Get a Life, Chloe Brown more. Don't get me wrong, they were both great reads! I can't wait for the next book to come out and to see which of the three are my favorite. Also, I just found your channel and subscribed! I love your vibe 💛💛
I read Raybearer because of you Joel and THANK YOU SO MUCH for recommending it! It's one of my new fav books!!! I'm defiantly picking up Witches Steeped in Gold and pretty much every other book on this list. Happy reading! (:
I LOVED The Space Between Worlds! I immediately ordered it when I heard about it last year. I knew it was a book I would love and I did! It could be an amazing movie. I hope they make it into a movie! I got Mad Max vibes from it. SO good!
Dani Brown, yes! I need to reread Raybearer soon. Cemetery Boys (best scene ever involving a ghost in a school bathroom-Jay Kay Ar could never). JADE WAR! I’m a little more lukewarm on These Violent Delights as a whole, but Kathleen is a queen. This Is How You Lose the Time War 👏 (I wrote down so many quotes as I went through it). I must go through this again for TBR ideas.
Hihi to everyone, i hope u have a wonderful day I have a quick question for you: Do you have any book Recommandetions for someone who is like kinda rediscovering their love for reading (aka me bcs i kinda forced myself to much to read the last year :/) ? I like fantasy (Urban, high...) and also romance typa books that aren't to to smutty ( to all the boys i loved before, love simon... stuff like that) and also books that make you think things (books like Aristoteles and dante ) If you want you can completely ignore this comment but if you can spontaniously think of a book than it would mean the world to me if u could leave an answer 😊 Have a great day
Absolutely adored this video and all the recs! I dont read a lot of scifi but I'm definitely intrigued to pick it up Space Between Worlds. I know you dont read a lot of contemporary but you must read One Of The good ones. It's such a phenomenal book that NEEDS more hype and acknowledgment in our community! It talks about black history in america, police brutality, homophobia, racism and so much more. I think that you're going to love it!
I'm not into sci-fi but the way you talk about Space between Worlds makes me really really consider getting it. The fact it has a sapphic romance makes me really really curious, so I just may I NEED TO READ THESE VIOLENT DELIGHTS. I knew the second I heard Romeo & Juliet + mafia AU it would be amazing and I need to get to it
I love love An Ember in the Ashes and I can’t stand Helene 😭😂! I’m glad you have City of Brass as an honorable mention; that series was one of my faves of 2020.
I love Helene so much though....it's interesting to me that most people either love her or hate her with very little middle ground. Although I will say that I didn't warm to her until the end of book 2.
@@drlc6051 I just finished book 2 and I can’t say I feel any warmth lol! I can recognize that she cares about her family but her loyalty to the empire and how easy it is for her to accept genocide and oppression is all the insight into her character I need. To me, finding her interesting and liking her are different 🤷🏽♀️
Um okay I love your videos they’re so pleasing to listen too, plz sign on to read an audiobook I love your voice, also UGH you have great recommendations 🥰
