I am honored to be featured in the beautiful Somerset Studios Winter 2020 issue! To celebrate, I want to share this FREE mixed media collage lesson creating the piece that is featured on this issue’s cover!
It conjured up powerful, fiery imagery in my mind. I decided to do a mixed media collage and play with creating an image that conveyed my emotion.
Collage is such a fantastic way to hone your design and composition skills so enjoy moving around the different elements and composing something that speaks to you! I speak at length about this in the lesson.

For anyone that might read this .. I know fear or worry can be very stiffling. But we all learn by doing and by mistakes. So just go with it and just do it!!! In the end it's just paper and paint and you can always fix most things and you can deffinatly always create it again if you just don't like something you did.

Very nice! What kind of ink do we print the picture with? Dose it have to be a specific ink like laser ink.?

I have always used posts paint pens to customize my collages but I like the better blended you are getting from paint. I am going to try that instead. Bought some of the brushes from the German artist they look beautiful

Will the image transfer if printed with inkjet printer or does it need to be a laser printer?
Yes it will but use a spray fixative first and do some tests. Ink jet inks can run in this process.
Is there an advantage to doing a transfer rather than gluing down the laser copy?
The advantage to a transfer is no paper edge. The transfer will be flush to the page but gluing on is fine too! You will just have the edge of the paper showing...but you can lightly sand it to minimize it!
Are you/she using acrylic or watercolor?
