Hey Pastor M., I just wanted to start off by letting you know that I love watching your bible study series. I love the way you teach and how you give us a deeper understanding of the history behind each book. You are thorough, clear and make things a lot easier to grasp. Thank you for your ministry, you are a blessing to many. I also wanted to bring something to your attention. You mentioned in this video that we receive the Holy Spirit once we are baptized but my Bible tells me differently. Ephesians 1:13 (KJV) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, I'm having a hard time connecting this to your teaching. This indicates that we receive the Holy Spirit once we chose to believe the gospel and receive Gods gift of grace.
A feature of New Testament writings is that the authors did not repeat all the information on a topic or teaching every time they made reference to it. The process of salvation is a common example of this practice. We know from the book of Acts that the proper response of faith to the gospel message is repentance and baptism at which point our sins are forgiven and we receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:37-41). When other writers are talking about the subject of salvation they don’t always repeat all of the details of that process (ie. Belief, repentance, confession of the Name, baptism). Often they will compress this information into a single word or expression as Paul in many instances one of which is in Ephesians 1:13 where he simply uses the term “believed” to refer to the process more fully described in Acts 2. - MM
In this passage Jesus is speaking to the Apostles and referring to the “empowerment” that they will receive (ability to speak in tongues, heal, miracles etc.) from the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday. This empowerment will be necessary to carry out the great commission to preach the gospel to all nations that He has given to them (Matthew 28:18-20). It’s important to interpret passages of scripture in context before coming to a conclusion as to their application then and today. - MM
BibleTalk.tv Thanks for the clarification, I have another question. Is water re-baptism necessary if we consider Romans 8:8-17 (Sonship through the Spirit) and Acts 1:5 ... am talking here about someone who moves Churches due to relocation or marriage? I hope my question marks sense
The only reasons for a person to be re-baptized are if they were baptized incorrectly (pouring, sprinkling and not immersion which is the Biblical method), or if they were baptized for a non-biblical reason (did it because it was their birthday or to please their parents etc. Instead of a response of faith in Christ). For an exam-le of those being re-baptized in the New Testament see Acts 19 where Paul re-baptized 12 believers because they had been baptized for the wrong reason (John’s baptism). - MM
Rom.6:4 teaches 'we are buried with Him by baptism into death', death to SIN, therefore, we are said to be 'dead to sin' (Rom.6:2,11, 1Pet.2:24.) So, can you explain WHAT this actually means?!!!
The Apostles received the indwelling when Jesus breathed the Spirit on to them in John 20:22. They received the “empowerment” to speak in tongues, do miracles etc. on Pentecost Sunday (Acts 2:4). - MM
On 23:09 min. of sermon MM says that there's no part of the gospel that promises the empowerment. Mark16:17-18 says that some promises actually exist. Could anyone able to comment this verse please?
hey pastor, yes John's baptism was about the coming of the kingdom, how do you best define or explain the kingdom in those days?. this is because I think the kingdom is jesus himself and when we receive him the "kingdom" the holy spirit is automatically given to us as a gift
Indwelling and empowerment are two different things. Check out the series entitled Luke/Acts and see lesson #14 for that info. bibletalk.tv/the-ministry-of-peter - MM
When Jesus in John 20:21,22 said "recieve the holy spirit", he was not giving it to them; he was instructing them on what to do when the spirit was going to be given. In Acts 1:5, Jesus (before he ascended to heaven) told them they were going to be baptized in holy spirit in a few more days. 2:4 said that they recieved holy spirit in Pentecost. The apostles did as Jesus did, they started to breath in and out like he instructed them.
No, and I believe that the Bible teaches that the gift of tongues as it was practiced at Pentecost and for a short time during the period of the Apostles has ceased (1 Corinthians 13:8). - MM
Romans 8:26 In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words. As a child around 10 years old in my bedroom hurting due to the physical abuse of my earthly father , I started crying out to my Heavenly Father with my tongue uttering gibberish but my mind knowing I was in direct pure communion with God the Father, I didn't know until many years later what this spirit cry was except it came from deep within me and when my mind started thinking evil towards my earthly father the speaking in gibberish stopped. I couldn't get it back. Romans 8:38 For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced-beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. == 1 Corinthians 13:8 Amplified Bible (AMP)8 Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]. But as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for the gift of special knowledge, it will pass away. Last Sentence = 1 Corinthians 13:12 Amplified Bible (AMP)12 For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face. Now I know in part [just in fragments], but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God]. These things are no longer needed as we are taken up with Him at the Last trump ...... Love never fails because we are never separated from Him.If it were possible to disembowel the Word of God, how would you do it? Is the Word without the Spirit alive? You make of no effect the empowering of the Holy Spirit.Prayer tongue verse prophetic tongue ..... foolish gibberish to man..... what is meant by God uses the foolish things to confound the wise. What happened at the tower of babble? If we are new wine skins (Our 1st Gift = Salvation....hearts of stone turned to hearts of flesh) containing new wine (2nd Gift = Indwelling of the Holy Spirit) of course we will sound like men drunk with wine = gibberish. Jesus began His ministry with conversion of water to wine......water baptism to spiritual baptism walking in the flesh to a life walking in His Spirit ...... and last (Our 3rd Gift = Eternity with Our Heavenly Father)Matthew 12:25-30 Amplified Bible (AMP)25 Knowing their thoughts Jesus said to them, “Any kingdom that is divided against itself is being laid waste; and no city or house divided against itself will [continue to] stand. 26 If Satan casts out Satan [that is, his demons], he has become divided against himself and disunited; how then will his kingdom stand? 27 If I cast out the demons by [the help of] Beelzebul (Satan), by whom do your sons drive them out? For this reason they will be your judges. 28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out the demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you [before you expected it]. 29 Or how can anyone go into a strong man’s house and steal his property unless he first overpowers and ties up the strong man? Then he will ransack and rob his house. The Unpardonable Sin30 He who is not with Me [once and for all on My side] is against Me; and he who does not [unequivocally] gather with Me scatters.31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy [every evil, abusive, injurious speaking, or indignity against sacred things] will be forgiven people, but [a]blasphemy against the [Holy] Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit [by attributing the miracles done by Me to Satan] will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. Does this still exist? No more demons are being cast out of people? Not by might, not by power but by My Spirit sayeth the Lord? Per tape 2 of your Tongues Sermon you wouldn't want me in your church because that's not your business/work?? If what I did as a child was not from Him then it is against Him.....there's no in between.Jesus said He came to fulfill the Law not do away with it.......Grass withers and the flowers fade but the Word of God stands forever
The “tongues” spoken miraculously by the Apostles and some of the early disciples were actual languages spoken by people who had not previously learned them. That is what the words mean in context in the book of Acts 2:4. Those who heard them even say that they understood them in their own language. Comparing this miraculous gift to the unintelligible sounds made by various charismatic groups is incorrect biblically. - MM

"for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now"

Someone said that John 20:22 is not the indwelling. They said it's an autority..
The Apostles received the indwelling when Jesus breathed the Spirit on to them in John 20:22. They received the “empowerment” to speak in tongues, do miracles etc. on Pentecost Sunday (Acts 2:4).

If someone obey the gospel and got baptized by a pastor in denomination is that baptism valid??
Is it true that the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and empowerment in the act 2? once provided?

If you lay over, you still come up with mixing law and grace!🤔
Do you speak in a spirit tongues....?
No, and I believe that the Bible teaches that the gift of tongues as it was practiced at Pentecost and for a short time during the period of the Apostles has ceased (1 Corinthians 13:8).

So knowledge has ceased also? 1 Corinthians 13:8, maybe that's why His people parish? Hosea 4:6
Paul was referring to inspired knowledge. We have received all the knowledge necessary for salvation. Jude 3
